  4. Short description: Guidelines to more solidify the do's and don't when it comes to the /breakin system on the server. Detailed description: The /breakin system onto the server in it's current state is rather bare state. I've been asking staff and players alike to get some feedback, and from my very own experiences as a player, I wish to suggest these guidelines to possibly improve onto the entire /breakin system. When breaking in to places, admins generally 'spectate' or 'gamemaster' the player(s). Players are warned to be quiet in order to avoid neighbor suspicion, and on top of that, the general danger of alarm systems are included. I've personally had interacted with security systems, virtual, as well as physical in real life, and I wish to share my knowledge and bend it to a more server friendly version. That way, I don't complicate and clutter the /breakin system with trivial real life stuff. Allow me to further elaborate; Upon further investigation with both staff and players on GTA:World, it's come to my attention that staff have a general idea as to what they should do when it comes to /breakin's. I don't blame for certain people to have a below-average knowledge in regards of security systems, it's the reason why I wish to step in, and further solidify how I believe that /breakin's can be improved on. I personally believe that if I were to help GTA:W by setting up general guidelines, it would smoothen the process of /breakin's, improve the quality, and generally avoid any form of confusion where staff have to wing it. My guidelines will generally represent what I've seen in the server, how they'll work, and how to bypass said systems. A security system can be easily defined by it's name. A building with a security system installed will have triggers on each door and window, essentially every 'opening' a house or apartment might have, and monitor it by use of sensors. Businesses might have more special sensors installed, such as where a jewelry shop as lasers running through the glass which'll act like a sensor or the like. When the sensor has been interrupted by a door suddenly opening, the person entering is prompted to put their password in, generally through a keypad by the door, and disable their alarm. This, of course, if a very basic concept of a security system, but it covers the foundation to what I wish to add onto the server. If more of a definition is needed, then please let me know, and I'll add onto this. I'll now continue to list various components to a security system, how to 'bypass' them and the do's and don'ts. Staff may take whatever they please from this, and implement it accordingly. There are moreso RPly guidelines, rather than scripted in items (Other than the security systems, obtainable through hardware stores, of course). Do note that I wish to simplify the way security systems are used. The way I describe certain things, and how they are IRL, are not a full 1:1, or might not even come near. What I yet again wish to voice, is that I have pondered on many of the follow things for quite a while so that I could think of a 'server friendly' system. I also wish to state that in no shape or form I wish to claim that these are 'separate' items. It's safe to assume that these items are included within the security systems one can buy, and I simply wish to flesh out the components. - The use of security systems in houses. Houses and apartments have a rather 'standard' security system. They will have sensors to all of their openings. That includes, but is not limited to, all doors and windows. An example of said sensors are stated below. These are to be placed outside of view from the outside of the apartment, and when the connection is broken, a timer will essentially start counting. When whatever person fails to provide a valid code to the keypad, an alarm will trigger. Ways to bypass them is to cut the telephone lines to a building, something that's near impossible to achieve within apartment complexes, given the lack of interiors. To bypass, one could cut the telephone lines to the property. This will however not completely disable the alarm. It will simply set an extended countdown for the alarm. If say, the alarm would normally ring within 30 seconds upon the breach, it'll not take a minute, if not a minute longer for it to sound. RPly, people will be able to check for sensors on doors and windows, only after they've opened the property. They could check for any sensors directly onto the doors and windows, after opening them. This will give the robbers a chance to rethink their strategy or run away before the initial alarm were to go off. Any attempts to manipulate these sensors, will result in the alarm being triggered. These cannot be disabled, but merely delayed further, or possibly bypassed if the robbery party managed to find an alternate entrance to the property. I wish to point out that the alarm system is one huge network of several components, which each their own purposes. If anyone were to tamper with the alarm system itself directly, the alarm will go off, this is a failsafe to all alarm systems. - CCTV Modern day CCTV tends to rely on bluetooth, and most commonly, WiFi. Certain establishments, mainly gas stations will have their CCTV used through a 'cable' function. However, the use of jammers and the like seems rather extreme and complicated to me. It could be a possibility, but I simply wished to point that out before I get to the subject. CCTV will work to record whatever is happening, and store such onto a computer, usually out in the backrooms. Only establishments such as jewelry stores, government buildings, and certain high establishments could have CCTV which is always 'manned', so to speak. Where a person will man the camera's, and have eyes on the location at all times. Therefor, I wish to suggest the following. Either allow CCTV to record whatever is happening, and 'store' it onto a generic computer within the establishment or property itself, or allow the use of 24/7 'manned' camera's, which enable for someone to essentially 'watch' the camera's at any given time. CCTV's cannot be disabled. When attempting to, an alarm will start to count down. They can be bypassed, and have the alarm merely delayed for but a minute or two. This can be achieved by tampering with an alarm control panel, if such a thing is present on / inside of the establishment. Essentially, the big security box which certain people hang up. If the power is RPly cut, the alarm will immediately count down. If the CCTV broadcast lines are severed, the alarm will be further delayed, rather than to outright go off. - Motion sensors I've noticed that certain establishments wish to use 'motion sensors' for their properties. This is about to take a rather complicated turn, but as I said before, staff are more than welcome to take and use whatever I present. If this doesn't fly, then it's alright by me. Motion sensors in real life are commonly bypassed by certain ways. By use of sytofoam shielding, which enables the person holding the piece of styrofoam to 'shield' their body temperature from getting detected. The use of infra-red flashlights. When said flashlight is concentrated upon the motion sensor for some while, it'll render the sensor nearly useless for the duration that the infra-red light to pointed onto it. By crawling underneath the sensor. However 'mission impossible' this might sound, most commercially available sensors have a standard feature to make it 'animal friendly'. Certain sensors are unable to pick anything up that's up to three foot in height from the ground, enabling people to bypass sensors by crawling onto the ground to hopefully pass the sensor. The sensor can only be bypassed in said ways, there is no way to turn it off. When manipulation is attempted, the alarm will start it's countdown. - Jewelry store glass In regards of jewelry stores, given how little there are within the server, I decided to keep this brief. Certain cases are protected through lasers. This, is far from the 'Dodge under the laser' sort of lasers. These lasers travel through the entirely of the glass, and 'bends' along to reach another point. When the laser connection is severed, a.k.a., the glass is broken, an alarm will sound. The only way to bypass this is to cut the glass with professionally made tools. The true 'score' for jewelry stores is a box filled with gems, which is generally kept underneath the/a counter. It rarely happens that gems manage to fall out of a ring, a neckless, etc. Or, gems are being kept there as a 'replacement'. The definition on it varies, but the main point is that the employees store said gems into a small box, in the counters which they work at. These are mere boxes which are not directly secured. Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? I personally believe that if staff have more solid guidelines when it comes to /breakin requests, that the overall player and staff experience will increase. No longer have staff to put themselves in confusion positions because they aren't up to date on how a 'MasterLock 4000' works. Whatever is in the server from what i'm aware of, is listed here. Plain and simple. Actions and consequences. Taking out the guess work, and replacing it with solid do's and don'ts so that staff know what to do when a certain player does something. Additional information: These are in my experience the main components to which I've faced during my /breakin adventures. If anyone has any suggestion as to what I should add/remove, please, do comment or let me know through my PM's. I wish to thank @Notbond, the members of GTA:W staff, and the countless of players that have inspired me to make this suggestion. As I've stated before, staff may take and add onto this as they see fit. In my opinion, this seems like a more than solid base for them to work off of when it comes to breakin's. Have something to refer to when they question the acts of the players, and give players a general idea on what will work, and what won't when breaking in.

  5. Because the bypass is incredibly easy. Just change the name and RP the same thing! Investigation of such things takes a lot of time. Perhaps you should focus on being ingame and actively roleplaying. Leave administration to worry about roleplay quality. If it's egregious to the point you can't ignore it;

  8. At least 69 alleged Russian mafia arrested in European crackdown A Europe-wide crackdown on alleged mobsters from the former Soviet Union continued Monday, with arrests now totaling at least 69. The suspects are accused of racketeering, drug smuggling, money laundering, and other crimes. The crackdown, dubbed "Operation Java," has exposed the global reach of the Russian mafia, who some experts claim now dominate the criminal underworld in not only several European countries but also the United States. It is believed these Eurasian organized crime cells are also active as far away as Australia and Singapore. The Associated Press reported Monday that the crackdown started as a probe into the Russian mob by Spanish authorities. Spain arrested 24 suspects over the weekend, with more arrests in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, Reuters said. Armenians, Russians, Georgians, Chechens and other ethnic groups from the former Soviet states were arrested. Criminals from former Soviet states are often lumped together as the "Russian mob," despite varying origins. El Pais on Tuesday quoted Swiss prosecutors and a Spanish police source on the massive scope and reach of the criminal ring. (in Spanish) "This is a perfectly structured, highly hierarchical international criminal organization, directed from Spain and mainly active in robbery, burglary, and receiving stolen goods," said Swiss prosecutors in a statement relating to 11 detainees. In March, investigative journalist Ruslan Gorevoy claimed that mobsters from the former Soviet Union operating outside Russia now numbered as many as 300,000 and have come to dominate the criminal underworld in several countries, the Moscow Times reported, citing an article in the Russian-language Versiya. Gorevoy says law enforcement personnel in many countries – including Spain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, France, Mexico, “and even the United States” –have been surprised by how “confidently” criminal groups consisting of people from the former Soviet Union now dominate their national criminal worlds. Indeed, the Versiya report continues, the Russian groups, which include “up to 300,000 of our compatriots,” have succeeded in pushing aside local groups and establishing their own “spheres of influence” to the point that they no longer need to “clarify relations with the help of arms.”

  10. *This thread will follow the life of Doris Malloway.* Early Life. Doris Harrison (maiden name) was born on the Second of March, 1952 to the British couple, Irene and Norman Harrison who at the time resided in the small town of Jefferson, Texas. She was raised to be prim, proper, and always have outstanding manners. She was a polite young girl, and excelled in her education as she was incredibly bright. She learned a multitude of languages which would help later in life. She was quite shy and reserved, and only spoke when spoken to. Her parents always told her - "Children are to be seen, and not heard, Doris!". Talking to peers in her early education was often a struggle, and as a British girl in a Texas school, she was often the subject of ridicule, teasing and nastiness from her peers. She did however make one good friend, going by the name of Beatrice Wagner. Beatrice always stood up for Doris, always challenging her bullies, and protecting her from the pokes and prods she would endure as a young child. They quickly became very close and sought comfort in each other, as Beatrice's home life was not great. Her father would often use cruel punishments such as beatings, and screaming in her face. They were two peas in a pod. As Doris and Beatrice grew up through high school together, they began to get extremely close. The comfort that the shy young woman had found in Beatrice, had quickly evolved into a romantic nature. They would often sneak off during class to enjoy lunch together, or to kiss each other in private away from prying eyes. Doris quickly fell in love with her, and she would become the first of only two loves in her life. One day, in the blazing heat of summer, a group of friends walked outside during gym class and found Doris and Beatrice holding hands and were disgusted. They mocked them, and began to beat them up. Neither were strong enough to defend themselves against the torrents of fists, and both went home with bloodied lips and black eyes. When Doris's mother found out, she acted as if it did not happen and simply swept it to one side, fearing that her daughter was gay. However, when Beatrice's father found out, he beat her violently and near to the point of unconsciousness Loss of a loved one. After months of homophobic attacks, bullying and fearing going into school, the two officially ended their relationship. A month later, Beatrice committed suicide by hanging. She left a note which read - "My dearest beloved. It is with great sorrow that I cannot continue on this path, and so I must reunite with the heavenly father. My home life is as you know, not the best. I have suffered beatings, anger, drunken fights, and abuse both sexual, and physical. I feel as though there is no kindness in the world, and now that the flame of our undying, but forbidden love has been extinguished, so has the light in my life. Please know that this is not your fault, I love you more than I can ever express in mortal words, but without you I have nothing. Nobody cares about us, nobody cares how in love we are, and nobody cares about the suffering and pain that we go through. I love you. I am so, so sorry. My dearest, I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me, and know that I only harbour resent to those who have hurt me. A million stars up in the sky. One shines brighter - I can't deny. A love so precious, a love so true, a love that comes from me to you. The angels sing when you are near. Within your arms I have nothing to fear. You always know just what to say. Just talking to you makes my day. I love you, Doris, with all of my heart. Together forever and never to part. - Your sweet, your love, Beatrice" This note sent Doris into a pit of despair and hopelessness. She would often write letters to her deceased friend, and write letters to herself on behalf of Beatrice, acting as though she were still alive. This event would be something that she would never recover from, and would hold ramifications throughout her whole life. Early Adulthood. At the age of 18, Doris could no longer handle the trauma of the loss of Beatrice, and her and her family decided to leave Texas, and return to England. She would have achieved the necessary qualifications, and began studying communications at the University of Cambridge, and after 5 years, completed her master's degree at the age of 23. She felt accomplished, and decided to move back to her hometown of Jefferson, Texas to seek work. Only a few days after she landed, she saw a recruitment poster for the C.I.A and applied, and her outstanding resume along with her impressive range of language got her hired. She started off filing, and translating documents, but the director of the C.I.A at the time, George H.W. Bush, quickly took notice of her impressive ability to perform under pressure and keep a quiet and reserved attitude to her work. Within a year, she was able to apply for a field agent position, and was accepted in 1976. She went through all the required training and passed with flying colours, and was quickly given a position as an informant in the Italian Mafia in Liberty City, as the RICO Act was beginning to screw the big mafia bosses. Her duties were simple - observe and report. She did basic work for the mafia, taking calls for the boss, filing sensitive documents, acting as security and listening in on meetings. In 1981, she was taken off her position and her work proved to be valuable. She remained undetected the entire time. (Pictured: Doris Harrison as a Mafia Security Guard, Circa. 1977. Captured using the Kodak Brownie Six-20 F) Meeting Victor. In 1981, Doris met Victor Malloway during her debriefing period from her time in the Mafia. They were both positioned in the same area, unaware of each other and after the fact, they quickly formed a close relationship. They would go to the beach, diners, drive in movie theatres, and their relationship would rapidly become romantic, and they both fell in love with each other. Doris was finally getting over her grief and anger at the world for taking Beatrice from her, and although she kept her a secret, she was ready to move on and give love another chance. In the spring of 1982, Doris Harrison and Victor Malloway married, becoming Mr and Mrs. Malloway. They then took out a mortgage on a nice home and began to work together more closely at work and at home, never getting sick of each other's presence. Doris was more content than ever, and was finally at a point in her life where she was truly happy. She had a place to call home, a loving and devoted husband, and a stable job that she loved. (Pictured top: Doris Mallow and Victor Malloway as Mafia security, Circa 1977. Captured using the Kodak Brownie Six-20 F) (Pictured bottom: Doris Malloway in her home, Circa 1980. Captured using the Nikon FA) Adult Life In 1983, tensions were at an all time high between Russia and the United States of America. This only increased and was further exacerbated when President Ronald Reagan branded the Soviet Union an "evil empire" Because of this, The C.I.A. gave Doris a post as an informant in the Soviet Union, and her duties again were simple. Observe, Report. She succeeded for quite a few years. Regularly updating the USA with information and Russian information. However in 1985, a Russian operative caught her making transmissions to the USA, and she was arrested and sent to Perm-36, A Russian forced labour camp. She was held for 24 hours a day in a special regime facility, the only one of its kind in the country, to house political prisoners in twenty-four-hour closed cells. She was eventually freed in December of 1987, when the camp was shut down. As prisoners were being escorted out of the camp to more conventional prisons, she made a run for it and managed to escape, albeit with a bullet graze on her arm. She eventually made her way into a local town, where she broke into the Town Hall during the night to make an SOS transmission to the USA. Before the mission, they had agreed on a meetup area should things go south, and within 12 hours, US operatives picked her up just outside of Kuchino and got her out of the country. The mission was supposed to last until 2000 (provided that the cold war did not end) but she requested immediate evac. The mission was not a total loss, and she was able to provide the CIA with invaluable information, that directly helped bring an end to the cold war, and in 1997 she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her efforts and bravery. (Pictured: Doris Malloway after receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Circa 1997. Captured using the Nikon FA) **This image would have the medal around her neck, but due to OOC restrictions, there is no clothing item like that in Menyoo, as far as I am aware** For the next several years, she stayed off the field, as the mental toll and PTSD of being imprisoned in a forced labour camp proved too much, and she was no longer as sharp or witty as she once was. She remained in the C.I.A, but as a translator of documents and intercepted messages. She took an early retirement in 2003 after 27 years of service, to focus on her home life and her relationship with Victor. However, 3 years later, Doris was diagnosed with early onset dementia after several months of memory loss, mood swings and difficulty concentrating. In 2006, Victor also retired from the C.I.A to take care of Doris full time, and support her needs. The loss of Victor. After just a year into their retirement, Victor fell extremely ill and was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and they had caught it too late. The doctors gave him just 7 months to live, and so in that time Doris and Victor began working down their bucket list. They went skydiving, scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, rented and drove a sports car around some of their favourite spots, and made many more happy memories together. As the year went on, they did as much as they could before Victor was bedridden. He managed to live longer than expected, but died after 14 months on the 19th of October, 2007. He passed away in his sleep, and his funeral was held shortly after, and his remains were cremated. This event worsened Doris's condition over the coming years. Her memory loss would increase, her mood swings became more violent and her awareness of her surroundings became extremely bad, claiming that she was in different cities and time periods. She would also fall into a pit of paranoia and loss, believing that her teenage love, Beatrice was meeting her for lunch, or coming for dinner, or writing her letters. Doris began her habit of writing letters to herself from both Beatrice AND Victor to cope with her loss and sadness. These memories would become some of just a few that she never forgot. (Pictured: Doris and Victor Malloway, Circa 2007, a few months before his death. Captured using the Nikon FA) Late 2000's - Present day. In 2010, Doris was forced to sell the home that she and Victor had bought, and decided to move to Los Santos where she bought a crummy apartment on Ginger Street, Little Seoul. She brought almost everything, including the entirety of the contents of Victor's study room, and so her apartment was rather cluttered, and filled with hoarded items. She also sold her car, and instead purchased a Faggio and a Surfer minivan to drive around the unfamiliar city. As the years went on and she was medicated, her feelings of paranoia mellowed out, as she forgot what she was even paranoid about. Her situational awareness became less dramatic in the new location, but she still suffered from delusions of Beatrice and Victor, firmly believing that both were still alive, just away on business trips, or vacations. Her life for the next decade would be fairly uneventful, she simply watched the years go by, not really doing much or making new friends. However, in early 2020, her pension ran out as the medical bills for her medicines, and Victor's cancer had forced them to spend a chunk of it, and she was forced to get a job. She decided to look around the city, and went into Trinity, where she met and befriended Valon and Lexi Gashi, who own the bar. She was honest, and asked the two for a job as a cleaner, or a bartender and she was brought onto the team to serve drinks and wipe down the tables. She didn't grow as close to Valon, but her friendship with Lexi quickly blossomed, and although they're vastly different in age, Doris considers her one of the closest friends in her life. They go drinking together, they go to clubs, and they hang out and chat over coffee. Lexi even helped her to clean her apartment, ridding some of the things that she had hoarded over the years. **The rest of this thread will exist to showcase her day to day life activities and important events.They will all form naturally ingame. If you have high quality screenshots, and wish to share your interactions with Doris, please post them as a reply to the thread, Thanks for reading!**

  11. As we all know, we're expected to roleplay to fit real-life standards, meaning that going 100mph down a street IG isn't justified based off the fact that the street is empty, because realistically there would be vehicles and other members of the public to consider. Taking the same criteria into account, as you approach the entrance to the docks, there is a station point for security. Obviously it is there for the monitoring the incoming and outgoing traffic. With respects, there's probably no one who would find any satisfaction of RPing Dock Security, but I'm sure it can be agreed that it /would/ be there, and is something to consider. When the only reasons for being inside the docks are either to collect goods for transportation, or to ICly apply/recruit into a trucking job (( script trucking )), It would make sense that a form of identification would have to be shown before passing into the docks itself to declare that you're there with purpose. It's made quite clear that unidentified traffic will be stopped and questioned on arrival if certain ID can't be shown, or if they don't appear to be operating a delivery vehicle: It is quite literally displayed quite clearly that "All vehicles must display dock permits upon entry" - which again, would add to my point of not disregarding the security procedures in-place, and that realistically said procedures would be enforced. With this being the main entry point, we can't forget the one as you go over the bridge either. Still with the same principle; barriers, station points, all the methods to keep unidentified, and unwanted traffic out. Main thing to consider with this is if you drove up to a dock of any kind, masked up in a blacked out vehicle, you would not be getting into the dock. Straight no. If anything, you'd have the police called on you by some concerned security guards. If you was to avoid the entrance(s) entirely by choosing an alternate route into the docks, again, 911 and a lovely trespassing charge before the opportunity arises to rob anyone. I know that it's GTA World, and things can't quite emulate real-life to the extent of which we would like, but these things contribute to the vision. I've always thought about this when I'm told about chain robberies, or even robberies in the docks themselves where you would be /LITERALLY/ loading goods with however many people around actually managing the area itself; just not realistic for robberies to happen here in my honest opinion.

Why not be able to have multiple of up to 3 safes (maybe donators get an extra 1~2 safes slot on top). 13. There are people who play that are so unoriginal and one dimensional with their characters that they have the same name, profession and personality. People fail to realize that an important part of a character is a sunset to the story. But people will cling to characters like it's part of who they are as a person.

  15. Quite honestly, you can tell if a car is desynced or not.. When a car is perfectly parked on the sidewalk/red line and perfectly aligned with the curb? Chances are nobody slammed into it and made it park there. This entire debate is all IC, As a Traffic member our role is to enforce traffic laws, which includes illegal parking, Whether you like it or not if you decide to park on the street you're running the risk of getting a citation... If you're in a private laneway then it's a different story however I have seen countless people park illegally on red lines, alleyways etc. And they get ticketed. Now before people start accusing others of being on a power trip and just ticket everyone they see... I can dispute that right now by saying issuing a citation is alot of paperwork... And ask the people in PD I interact with on an OOC level and they'll tell you how much I hate paperwork. My character strives himself on being a community police officer, working with the community so I use OOC judgement to the best of my ability to determine whether a vehicle deserves to be issued a citation and so do the officers under me in Traffic Division. There's an entire process with citations, Most citations are under $2500 (Citations relating to spawned vehicles that are illegally parked). However if your vehicle is illegally parked and unregistered/uninsured? Then that's just your fault as the Penal Code clearly states under section 420, that you cannot park on a public roadway with no insurance or registration.. And the fact it's parked clearly means you've been driving which is also in violation of 420. If you're constantly getting cited then there's clearly something wrong with your parking or choice of parking, as it's highly unlikely that a citation every day is down to desync.

  16. It's not always easy to tell if someone left there car proper but due to desync it got shoved aside. Some people actually do park like that, I've seen it happening. Id be harsh to say officers should go out of their immersion to see if something is IC or OOC. I usually thought that IC is what we common players deal with and OOC is Admin territory. Obviously, if I see a car left on the middle of the street, engine running what not, I park it up myself, cause who knows he might have dc'd, but if the cars engine wasn't on, I'd probably just tow it cause in the end just cause you have desync, shouldn't affect others negatively and be pulled out of their immersion. So common courtesy from both sides should be applied. And if you say it was desync then report it and have the citation avoided if it affects you that much.

  19. You neglected to mention this is due to you nearly killing two EMTs with the hood of your pickup truck in the middle of an accident scene. IC disagreement is fine but making OOC assumptions because you got in trouble for committing a felony IC is silly. For the record as well, as this is the anti Sush thread, I take photos of every vehicle I cite or impound. They are all included on every traffic report surrounding a ticket/impound. I would not issue a citation on a vehicle without reason as I do not have corruption permissions. I do issue a lot of tickets, yes, but it's a small portion of what I do IC and the (frankly too much) time I'm in game provides more opportunity. According to my ABAS I'm at about a 50/50 on and off duty rate. End of day, and this doesn't just apply in my case, if you don't want your vehicle to receive citations for illegal parking or insurance violations, don't park illegally with unpaid insurance. I have tried to refrain in the past from issuing citations like this to brand new players as they may not have a firm grasp of our IC laws yet and bullying them over that would be unfair. However, the majority of people I cite have been issued traffic citations previously and have been on the server for months at time of incident. I have never seen threads dedicated to how being jailed for other crimes is unfair. TLDR: if you don't want to be cited for a crime don't commit the crime.
