  1. Let things develop naturally. I always go into a character with a little backstory for reference if needed (some have a full on character story, some have basics) and a set of goals I want to achieve for them. The best part is letting everything just happen dynamically as they come because you never know what situation you can get into - use it to develop towards your goals or ideas. I think it's always good to have a little pros and cons sheet for your character. What are they good at, what are they bad at. What issues do they have, what are their strengths/weaknesses. My character has an eating disorder, it's been a focal point of her RP since her creation and hardly anyone knows of it ICly. I let small mannerisms give potential to raise questions but it's never in your face, it's extremely subtle - she might just order a soda from a drive-thru with her friends. She might make up some, "Oh, I ate earlier." excuse. Sometimes she'll even find ways to dispose of food. She also has a heavy reliance on marijuana to keep her mellowed as she is quick to react to situations without much thought. The combination of constantly smoking weed and dealing with the munchies alongside her eating disorder is always a dilemma - so while it's not something 99% of the playerbase would really notice ICly, it gives her some depth for me to work and get creative with. Every good character has flaws, dreams, ambitions and desires. I think as long as you go into a new character keeping your basic identity in mind, you'll be fine to let it alllllll play out dynamically!
  2. I tried my best with @Adero 😞 RPed as a veterinarian for months, had meetings with the Mayor and got Government approval. Meetings with PD/LSPD to discuss jurisdiction areas etc. Government gave us a budget and we had the Beaver Bush Ranger Station all mapped and open for RP as a visitor center type place with a veterinary surgery - but then it was denied by FM after a few months operation as they didn't want another LEO faction at the time as Sheriff's were about to be live a week or two later. (Which was fair enough looking back now). I'd love to see it happen in the future, we had a blast just RPing with random civilians out in the wilderness! Especially if animals become a thing in 1.1 - it would be such a cool addition!
  3. I know that Sharvit left Fire Marshals and it's probably just in a difficult spot trying to find it's feet again. I can honestly say that every fire inspection I've had has been quick, painless and a lot of fun to RP. There should 100% be some leeway in terms of times and dates - possibly even allowing FM to access a property if you're not online to ensure it's up to code. Closing a business should be an ultimate last resort if the player refuses to cooperate. If they have showed some level of trying to do what's neccessary, then they shouldn't ever be closed IMO. When I was a Fire Marshal for a very brief stint, I know those guys put a lot of heart into that RP - so lets not just trash them because of some difficulties it may be facing right now. As I said, Sharvit stepping down from that position is a massive loss and filling those boots won't be easy.
  4. I'm not a cop, btw. Regular ol' civilian. Just like in real life, cops have the advantage over criminals. Everyone knows if you're stood in the middle of the street in a shootout with cops, the cops are going to throw resources at you to stop the scene.. We're asking for clarification on the rule, whether it be from a LSPD/LSSD/Civilian/Illegal perspective - it doesn't matter that the situation I'm using is cop vs criminal right now, that's just because cops are suddenly being punished for something they have always done. What are we as players allowed to do if we are in a vehicle and a person is shooting at us? What is allowed and what isn't allowed? If a criminal has a car and the cop is in the middle of the street shooting at them - are they allowed to ram them? The reason you gave about the traffic stop also does not warrant a vehicle ram without roleplay as there's enough time to actually RP the ram in that situation as there is no weapon being discharged. The only rule on ramming is this. We're just asking for further ruleset clarification for what is actually allowed for ALL players - if a criminal is being shot by a cop, are they allowed to ram them? If someone tries robbing me with a gun, a civilian, am I allowed to hit them with my car? Because realistically I'd say so. Ramming players just to rob them is considered non roleplay, as It is not realistic.
  5. ..Why is instant-win bad? Why is this down to winning and losing? If a criminal decides to start shooting up a street and cops, you can't expect a cop to sit there and type /me rams guy or even get out of his vehicle to return fire - because the criminal will just win 10/10 times. I'm having a really difficult time accepting how people shooting at cops have "no defence" - Maybe using proper cover to ensure you don't get rammed - if you're standing in the middle of the street shooting then that's your own mistake. A cop isn't going to ram through a vehicle to get to the criminal and if they do then THAT can be punished. The criminal has a fire arm, they can shoot at the car from cover leaving the cop a sitting duck. None of these people chose to use defensive cover - that's on them, not the cop. If someone is dumb enough to pick a shootout with cops standing in the middle of a road without cover, expect /real life/ tactics to be used to take them down. And if the hit WASN'T justified.. leave it to Internal Affairs and the Courts to punish that player and keep it all IC. If criminals actually used cover, they won't get rammed. Don't use cover? Expect that it can happen to you. I see no instant-win there. These people have already been punished unfairly for something that happens in real life and I don't think it's fair at all.
  6. It seems that this has suddenly become a "admin discretion" thing which has just pushed ambiguity that amounts to the ever-growing frustration when it comes to consistency in the community. Recently there's been a trend of LSPD/LSSD getting punished for VDM but with no indication that this is no longer acceptable. Ramming a suspect firing a weapon is a legitimate tool that officers can utilize to neutralize a suspect - and LSPD has used it multiple times, as far as I'm aware, with zero consequences. Here's an officer that got a MEDAL for doing exactly what these officers have done lately that are now being subjected to humiliating ajails (which as a punishment seems dated for certain scenarios that could sometimes be cleared up by having a discussion with the person in question and a 'hey you can't do that' rather than subjecting them to some public humiliation for an incident that they've never been punished for previously - sitting in an ajail for 30 minutes when they have a typically clean record/played on GTA:W for an extended amount of time doesn't achieve/help any situation. It just seems like the easiest, quickest and laziest action to take instead of just having a five minute conversation to clear up what the person did wrong and how to avoid it in future.) and faction removals: Officer NAME used his patrol vehicle to neutralize one of the gunmen before taking cover behind his patrol vehicle and opening fire on a second subject. Officer NAME, using his skills taught in training, kept cool in this hightly stressful situation and was personally vital in ensuring that none of his colleagues or bystanders were in any further danger of getting hurt. Some actual clarification of PD/SD (even civilians in situations where its gun vs vehicle) being able to ram a person that's in an active shooting would be really nice rather than just suddenly changing things and punishing people for something that has always been considered (and awarded) a thing. I don't think it's fair that these people have been punished when there's been no attempt at actually saying, "Hey, you can't do that anymore, we changed our stance on it." or if it IS an "admin discretion" incident, then surely there needs to be consistency in that ruling rather than allowing multiple opinions on the subject. If I was being shot at in my vehicle, I'm not going to sit there and type /me rams guy, I'm going to floor it in hopes of neutralizing the target, much like what would actually happen IRL - whether I'm a legal/illegal character. Makes no sense. This definitely needs to be addressed as soon as possible, IMO. And just to add on, if this happens and it was an incorrect decision? Stop punishing PD/SD for doing it - let it play out ICly with IA investigations, court cases and stuff. You're ruining more RP by interjecting on silly things like this. Admin discretion needs to go IMO. There needs to be a clear handbook for what punishment fits what crime.

just went through the whole thing, sets the bar so fucking high - illegal rpers should take notes here. Can't wait for more!
  8. Username: FR Comment: Locals only was a surfer term in 19 fucking 75 to the early 1980s and was quickly fucking pushed to the side when people realized how fucking dumb it was. Skating has always been cultural. Murdering an old man tonight just because he wanted to try BMX, you think that's cool? Learn what "Locals Only" actually means instead of trying to turn it into some racist skater shit.
  9. It happened to me, a lawyer tried taking me to court for defamation for calling them a fraud. Admins reached out to figure out how my character made the comment etc. Whole thing soured me towards the forum RP side of things, so now if I post it's generally under VPN like most do just to not get sued for making a comment.
  10. This stemmed from when people started getting taken to court for comments they were making. So I understand why people do it, if people didn't do the VPN thing and got taken to court for making a comment, it would kill forum RP IMO.

I don't see the issue in letting people portray their character how they wish for them to be perceived. GTA has limited options, hence why people mod their games. If someone wants to show their character how they envision them, I have no issue with that. You wanna call them out for it IC, that's your decision to make - but don't stop people trying to be a little creative with their character. I don't use Faceapp but I used to. These days I'm happy with how my character looks but in the past, I've had issues with things that I didn't have the skill to fix.
  12. Having witnessed what happened the other night, I don't think this is the issue. The issue the other night stems from the lack of RP that happened, there wasn't a single /me attempt. I'd argue giving security firms/civilians access to a bigger arsenal of weapons is definitely not the answer. A tackle script? absolutely. But they definitely do not need more weapons - especially one as powerful as the taser in game. If we take the other night as an example, if a guard was happy to shoot someone for skipping a queue, imagine with multiple tasers popping off into a crowd, it would just create even less RP where tackle attempts and grabs should be made. Think of robberies with tasers, or gang fights turning into LTL wars. I think this would be a pure shit show.
  13. Don't think it's been said enough. Massive respect to everyone at the LSPD who attended yesterdays event. Extremely well organized, great roleplay, perfect amounts of de-escalation and nothing but positivity on their behalf. I hope the new Chief is handing out some nice awards for all involved!
  14. Username: LFR Comment: Did you not see the video of the guy who initiated the fight? Hitting someone on the back of the head with a flashlight and also hitting the owner of Fantasia? He hasn't been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon has he? Pipe down you fuckin' melt.
  15. Username: LFR Comment: Enough evidence here to put people away. Felony charges for assault with a deadly weapon at a minimum. Instead the police stand around protecting them. Businesses, do your thing. Refuse to deal with Gruppe 6 whilst we wait for legal action to commence.
  16. Username: LFR Comment: Found the G6 employee. It's all on video man, it's all there. Stop trying to lie your way out of it like the statement and the interview, you're just hurting yourselves more you dumb fuck. You know what would have worked, "We apologise for what happened on the 23rd of January. We have terminated the employees involved, will work closely with the authorities to receive proper training so that this never happens again. We are sorry to the young mans family that we murdered. Instead it's just, "WE ARE HEROES, WE KILLED AN UNARMED BLACK, DID I MENTION HE WAS BLACK? WELL HE WAS BLACK. AND THERE WAS LOADS OF THEM AND THEY WERE BRAWLING AND THEY HAD GLASS BOTTLES THREATENING US SO WE SHOT HIM!" when the CCTV clearly shows what happened. Fucking pathetic. Glad they'll get no business in this city. Failed as cops, failed as security, maybe now Horny's burgers will have some employees.
  17. Username: LFR Comment: Absolutely criminal the amount this firm is lying. I'm glad everyone is cancelling their contracts. When the CCTV drops, it'll show everything. There were no glass bottles, no threats, no brawl - just a guy running away from Security guards trying to hit him with flashlights (who are so badly trained ended up hitting each other multiple times) before one of them shot the place up. They could have apologised but instead they've doubled down on their lies - they've set themselves up for total failure in this city.
  18. Not really a fan of that, I'd feel guilty charging someone insane money for items that don't actually appear on a character. People will always RP clothes differently - many illegal gangs use clientside mods that alot of players can't see, others use the inventory system to showcase jewellry, others will have something in their /examine etc. I prefer actually creating things that people can wear instead of some item in your inventory, it just feels a little lazy when the tools and possibilities to create things on GTA exist - so we've given all the mods we make to the server and will continue to give mods so long as Oggy wants to keep using them. With the main suggestion, I do think it would be great if there was a way to seperate things more like the mechanic menu. I'd be happy to go through each individual piece of clothing GTA has and place them into categories (street wear, sport wear, high fashion etc.) if this was accepted. Coming from a clothing store owner, I think a bigger problem exists in that clothing stores all work off of one menu. The owner of the store does not own the clothing script - it's server wide. So even if breaking things down into categories can't happen, perhaps looking into the clothing script being seperate so that when people purchase outfits for $100, the clothing store gets some of that profit. I'd view it as - giving clothing stores their individual /bmanager that forces them to purchase components like any other business but allow them to set their own price on the menu to cover the costs of those components. Right now having a clothing script in your store gives you zero benefits or negatives. PM fill up your components for free, you don't get any profit - it's a little shallow. Arguably, the category thing works much better - placing different clothes in different clothing stores but it's a lot of work that I'm not sure many people would want to attempt. I'd be happy to categorize all of the clothes should a developer wish to explore this, though!
  19. Honestly, I think now is a good time! Lets go back and remember how the server was early 2019, we dealt with little bugs or annoying crashes. I see no issue with deploying the update and patching it up over time - the pros outweigh to cons massively IMO. I played from 2pm til 1.1 ended today, never crashed once - bumped into one bug which was the floating vehicles. I commend the work you've put in already and I can't wait!
  20. Can we talk about the irony that the person making that post is the person that was fast-tracked into Cascade's position and is now Deputy Chief? I hope the community don't fall for these sob-stories or misinformations. Would be a good outcome to see him also offered the same demotion as Cascade, see how he reacts. Wonder if he'd write the same sentiments about himself? FM made a decision with Nervous - there was a reason Roozles was removed. Don't let his Donald Trump attempts of being a martyr and kicking up a storm actually work on you. Trust the staff who make these decisions as they actually want what's best for the community, not a clique of friends.
  21. Having heard many horror stories about PD recently from members of the faction from P1 to Lieutenant regarding the upper "inner-circle" of friends, people being fast-tracked while other people in the faction were removed or demoted, I'm glad FM stepped in and did something if they thought there was an issue. The amount of resignations from long-standing community members speaks volumes IMO. Cascade, for example - long standing community member, long standing PD high command, trusted admin - being OOCly demoted in favor of one of your friends fast-tracking the ranks because she was "too nice" as I've been told. I have to say, considering the amount of LEO updates and mods that the server gets (even at the expense of ruining civilian clothing), I find it pretty inappropriate to say you were offered no support from FM. Having known Sharvit and worked with him closely, I know that he's not that type of person and tries to remain fair to all factions - but there's no denying PD gets favourably more support than any other faction on the server, so I find it pretty petty to try and put the blame on LFM. The LSPD is a staple of the server, Chief's come and go. The faction has the advantage of not being able to be shut down by LFM because it /has/ to exist - many factions don't get that opportunity. So when decisions are being made that rub people the wrong way, you have to expect the backlash. Not saying you did no good but clearly the bad decisions and lack of communication did more harm to the point of FM deciding they wanted a replacement. Again, just what I've been told over the past few months but seeing the resignations of certain community members who committed thousands of hours to PD along with the removal - this seems to have weight. This comes across as a Donald Trump move, in all honestly.
  22. I've had nights where my character has been coked up to their eyeballs, drinking anything given to them and had a taxi home (which was hysterical as it involved multiple stops for food, vomiting and to just talk to passersby). But those nights are really rare due to a mixture of things, for me at least. Most of the time when you go to a club, you're never sure how long that club will be open - so driving yourself is a lot easier if you need to bar hop. Nothing worse than getting a taxi, the club closing 5 minutes later, getting another taxi and the same thing happening. It makes committing to a "big night out" difficult as you're usually given a random "closing in ten minutes!" and then have to leave and hope something is open that fits the type of night out your character is having. Some clubs/bars charge an extortionate amount for a beer. A group of us went for a Christmas night out and a round of 7 people would cost us around 4k on top of the 600 dollar entrance fee each. I think most people will gladly buy one drink for the RP, but due to pricing get dissuaded from going all out. A fight ruins the vibe and quickly shuts off the club off from allowing this kind of RP to flow. Can't say how many clubs I've been to where a fist fight happens for little to no reason and ends with the club being in that weird space of, "stand around for a bit while PD do their thing before the club calls it a night". Clubs are all the same. Nothing original, exciting or different. I've yet to see a club that actually tries to be different from the norm. I think it's a mixture of things that really stop the masses from partaking.
  23. We brought this idea forward a while back when we handed our clothes to the modders for the server. We had a member of the development team who was happy to do the work but Nervous denied it (I can't remember the reason), so maybe this can be re-looked at one day. I'd love to be able to sell our clothes in our own menu It's make our store unique if there was just Hawaiian Snow stuff at Hawaiian Snow. By splitting up the clothing into categories (Formal, Street wear, gym wear, bikinis/swimwear, lingerie, for some ideas) or allowing people to select which clothes they'd like to sell per clothing item. Our store is a street wear focus, we wouldn't sell suits.. nothing worse than when a customer walks out of our store in a full on suit haha. It's going to really hurt our business financially when 1.1 drops as all of our items can be purchased for 100 bucks at any store - but our goal has always been to get good quality mods into people's hands without "knowing someone" or paying real life money for it, so we were happy to give them over to the server. I just hope it doesn't cripple us to the point of ruin.. so full support from me!
  24. and for those saying it forces people to have to partner up - people were more than happy to partner up with me and I never had issues finding someone to take me along on patrol. You get more RP when you're not sitting on TS shooting the shit imo. Big up @Westen who would actively go out of his way to ensure I had a partner when I was a P1 and knew nobody and he was a Sergeant who could have easily overlooked me. There's people out there that do value having a partner to RP with. On another note, people seem to be generalising PD RP as all pursuits and shootouts - theres more to LEO RP than shooting and driving fast and if the LSPD command want to demonstrate that the RP should always come first, it's time to sit down and accommodate those that arent lucky enough to be healthy.
