  1. As long as it comes with a chance for the tackler to fall over themselves, for example: "You attempt to tackle <target> but lose your footing and fall over". (tackle attempter is then forced into fallen animation for 3-4 seconds). This could be like a 30% chance and will add some risk to doing it, possibly allowing somebody to escape even better than if you didn't try to tackle. It would add more flavour to PD foot pursuits for sure (an actual chance to escape on foot if the cop falls). And I know a lot hate "RPG" stuff like this, but in competitive situations like a foot chase, you need the script to support it (nobody will stop running to type out /me's etc).
  2. I'd prefer actual hunger/thirst indicators which compel people to actually go and buy food and drink ?
  3. There would have to be some incentive to actually do this. The upgrades are so cheap, and money is so plentiful, what is the incentive to buy the illegal ones? Possible idea: How about we lock all level 3 upgrades behind this "illegal" method, so the max upgrade you can get via legal means is level 2, and then you have to use illegal parts to get level 3 (or add a level 4, if rage 1.1 allows that).
  4. I had the same issue when starting out. It's not easy but as others have said, just go forth and RP your character and over time, things will happen. For example, I often RP and chat to the truckers that deliver goods to the business I'm at. Over time, you see the same faces and connections are made. Also I found that taking a job in a store provided heap loads of RP and contacts. Plus there's the OOC contact route other people have mentioned, to get a foot in the door with some faction and arrange some IC situation where you'd meet.
  5. I originally thought it could be nice but the more I thought about it, the more I went off it. And I think the main reason is, if somebody has an interest in advertising a particular smell, they are self motivated to do a /do every so often at their choosing. There is no need for them to buy an item to achieve it, and they can be creative in the /do as they desire (for example, they can say the perfume is apricot and elderflower if they wish, without needing some specific item). Generally I just don't think things that can be RP'd by a human should be scripted unless there's a good reason. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I think the development cost (limited time of the developers who could be adding other things) vs reward isn't favourable.
  6. Not sure if anyone mentioned yet, but you could also stream your gameplay to YT, effectively having a kind of "live news report" from a scene in downtown LS, being shown on people's in-home TVs. Pretty sweet. More things to think about: Youtube adverts - might ruin things, it's a lot of work to remove them and YT updates how the ads are delivered often. Perhaps use another service. Syncing the video - Bob and Alice are watching a YouTube video, then Eve enters 8 minutes later. How does it get synced up so that they are watching the same time? Lag/Buffering - If Bob has terrible internet and the video stops for 5 seconds, what happens? How is it kept in sync with Alice?
  7. If PD don't want to deal with it, maybe it can be a nice IC job for the Gov faction? Something like department of transport, or even public works. A civ group that keeps the roads clear.
  8. Honestly, the PD could clear up Vespucci in <1 week: all they have to do is put plain clothes officers onto the streets at night and wait for them to be robbed. I reckon they'd catch at least 3 robbers per night easy.

    House Market

It's crazy how there is simply no housing available in Blaine county. At least in the city there are plenty of multi-apartments for people. Couldn't some multi-motel rooms (which we can buy, not rent) be placed somewhere in the county just to give us *somewhere* to live ICly even if it's not a perfect solution? I know house applications can be used but I don't necessarily *want* anything fancy or unique. I'd be happy with anything with an interior to call home.
  10. It'll be a RageMP issue, it started doing it with other programs such as Sandboxie also. I had to just remove em.
  11. I had an idea a while back that we should have "newbie town", a place for newbies to start in and where experienced vets can volunteer to help newbies get a feel for how to behave and how to RP. It wouldn't even have to be direct mentoring, just seeing how the vets behave would set the template in their head. Of course, it could also mean direct mentoring and some initial help on developing their character idea etc and even helping them get into contact with factions that might suit them. Newbie town could be optional but highly encouraged for new players.
  12. Do you mean /sp 20? I don't think that forgets the set limit if you stop at lights? Or does it?
  13. Maybe average wealth over time would be a good thing to keep an eye on? I think generally we'd want to avoid this going forever upwards, as it did on other servers in the past.
  14. Huh, I didn't even realise jail time ticked down if you were offline. Seems generous that you can go around committing crimes then just not play for a few hours and you're back out like nothing happened.
  15. Glad it helped! Yes it could be some attempt at anti cheat
  16. For me, I had to remove the program "Sandboxie" and it solved a similar issue. Seems like anything unusual or non-standard on your PC can cause RageMP to crash.
  17. I think names should always show on radios. If people metagame knowing the name from simply hearing a new voice (that they can't link to a name ICly), then they can be reported for metagaming. Logically, a mask masks your face, not your voice.
  18. The only way is to somehow proxy it through the GTA:W servers. The viability and cost of that is something only the devs will know.
  19. So where does this bug lie? In RageMP or in the sliders GTA:W made/use?
  20. Thanks for the guide, there is very little info out there on how to get started in all of this, so this was useful :3
  21. I'd vote for the "not restricting everything" path. It's a slow but slippery slope and you end up with pages and pages of convoluted rules that only encourages people to halt RP the moment they don't like something and start reporting. Additionally, I think the term "Deathmatching" had gotten way way too broad. People were getting admin penalties for shooting at cops during a traffic stop, because in the admin and cop opinion the person should have waited in their car and talked to the officer. Like, what? You can't expect every single person you pull over to act like a model citizen. DM rules are essential to stop people running around and just shooting random people, yes, but there has to be limits. Same for "Non-RP" punishments. If you dared to behave even slightly outside of what the admins deemed "normal", you were punished. It just made everything predictable and stale and stifled creative RP.
  22. While a lot of people hate the idea, I think games like this (especially where the city is so huge) simply need an area where new players can congregate. Yes, the idea of mall rats or other such "newbie areas" is unbearable to some, but without such a place a new player with no OOC connections is simply left in a very large, seemingly very empty city. So, my suggestion to server management is to consider creating some kind of "newbie/tutorial town". You can place it well out of the way of the main population, perhaps in the county so that those who hate the idea do not have to see or visit it. The tutorial could be changed to focus on this place, allowing us to walk to the bank, walk to a clothes shop, and so on. Get rid of all that driving around in a $100 rental that vanishes after 30 minutes, leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere and let us encounter other new players and form some early connections. The key thing here is, if you don't like the idea of a newbie town you don't have to go there! It shouldn't bother you if it exists or not. For those who want to help newbies and help the server grow, they can visit it and help newbies and even mention their faction or whatever to raise awareness. Flame on ? p.s. Would be happy to work with whoever to make this happen
  23. I'm a newbie and the teleporting thing is freaking confusing. I went into a shop, came out and was somewhere totally different and then I'm stuck with no vehicle and there's no obvious way to get back to where you were. Also yes, being stuck in the middle of nowhere without your rental vehicle sucks ?
