  1. Why not? I don't think I've visited the Pinboard sub-forum twice since I began playing here.
  2. I know of many cases in which a manual monthly payment is required. This would make everything much easier. A small addition that could help a lot of people. Supporting!
  3. This would be a great feature. Not only would the process be much simpler and the integration be much higher but people would be automatically notified (and monitored) straight through the UCP, administrators would have a much higher control over both privacy and the report itself and it would make everything much, much easier. Something should be done regarding the visibility of reports. You should be able to invite witnesses/third parties to view/reply the reports as they might have something valuable to add.
  4. I think I'm going to change my answer and not necessarily be a fan of this suggestion. While this might be a problem and this might be one possible solution to it, I don't think this is the right way to approach it. Separating new players in an artificial way does not work well. Remember those servers where you couldn't rob someone if either one of you was under level X - it made sends OOCly but it made no in-character sense whatsoever. We shouldn't be limiting roleplay in any way, shape or form based solely on the wrongdoings of a limited number of people in a limited number of cases. These cases should be dealt with on an individual basis. On top of that, we'd still have people creating secondary characters for many other reasons. From abusing the starter paychecks to making burner characters in order to keep on playing those paychecks in poker and a wide variety of other abuses, these should not be stopped by limiting roleplay. It's everyone's responsibility to follow the rules and whoever does not shall be dealt with individually.
  5. I am personally interested in being around TTCF more and doing much more RP on custody duty. It can be really hard to get roleplay going when there's few inmates on, though. If there's 2-3 people in the pod, especially if they don't know each other, most of the times they'll just AFK. That's one reason why lots of people don't go on custody duty as often as they could - watching over three people who are AFK isn't the most enticing. The ideal scenario would be having lots of inmates online, which would bring more people on custody duty and more overall roleplay. The thing is that TTCF is still a relatively new concept and I'm sure that in time we'll get to a point where it'll be natural to see both inmates and guards having a constant presence around TTCF. What I'd personally like to see more of is prison 'events'. This is all just my personal opinion, though.
  6. The more the merrier. People competing the task without roleplaying is just like people using a /vbreakin command and waiting without roleplaying. If anything, these minigames are a great enhancement to role-play. They make it much more interesting and challenging than doing a command that has a random chance of working or not working. If you see someone not roleplaying breaking into cars, just report it.
  7. That's a good idea, actually. Okay, maybe not pink, but this suggestion, combined with coloring the names of new players into something subtle but noticeable could make this suggestion work. Although, all in all, I don't even know if it is needed. The people who create characters in order to engage in trollish or sub-par roleplay are being dealt with anyway (and it also adds to their administrative records) and there's lots of new characters which do, in more or less depth, engage in perfectly acceptable illegal roleplay.
  8. I totally agree with you and all of those examples. Being forced to use /showitems will one hundred percent generate one of the three situations you've given as examples more often than not. That's one big issue we're currently facing because of how widespread robberies (poorly executed ones especially) are. If you do believe someone's holding something back and you use report in order to find out, you'll either find out that they weren't holding anything back (while giving the staff team one more task - to check inventories after each robbery) or you'll find out that they were indeed holding something back and end up in one of those there situations once again. This isn't the solution either. The situations you gave as examples happen way too often and give the robbers a huge and unfair advantage over the players they are robbing. The problem with forbidding robbers to ask for /showitems is the fact that the wheel would just completely turn. The robbers would be at a huge OOC disadvantage. As a clear example. You, as a robber, go ahead and pat someone down. You do it thoroughly and they have $5,000, three phones, five diamond rings and necklaces and two pistols on them. They roleplay having nothing. What's your course of action? You would normally be able to ask for them to /showitems and you would see they were lying OOCly but if you're not able to? You would never be able to report them for lying and you would never even know that they were. If you go ahead and /report them just to make sure, you'd just fall into the situation given above. This would be the end of all robberies on the server and while I do like that idea, I don't support it if it's based on an OOC unfair limitation. Being forced to use /showitems gives a huge unfair advantage to the robber and being restricted from using it give a huge unfair advantage to the victim. There has to be some sort of middle ground that's standardized, fair to both parties from an OOC point of view and neutral, as much as it is possible.
  9. That is true and very fair, but how can it be verified and how would punishments be issued if this rule was to be broken? There isn't an easy way to check whether the person you're fighting with has under or over 5 hours. Secondly, there should be a clear distinction of what illegal roleplay is acceptable and what is not - after all, everyone's first action on a new character is breaking the law (driving to the DMV without a license). Would driving in the wrong lane, spitting on someone or provoking a fight fit under illegal roleplay or not? If all types of illegal roleplay are forbidden, then all characters will have a boring first few hours (not because of the restriction but because of the fact they're being restricted). Also, how would new players react to such a rule? It might be an easy rule to follow for experienced or old players but new players who are just started roleplaying and just joined the server would have a hard time following this rule. Lots of them make some silly but honest mistakes while learning the ropes and end up being great members of the community - starting their journey with administrative punishments would not be great. The most pressing issue is the first point, however.
  10. Short description: Changing the OOC levels in /vstats (and the mechanic menu) to some lore-friendly brands and component names. Detailed description: Giving the OOC levels in /vstats an IC lore-friendly name. All of the upgrades can have a unique name - say, "Vapid V8 Engine" instead of "Engine: 4" and so on for each of the upgrades (all of the upgrades would have the same names, wouldn't depend on the vehicle/brands). This would eliminate the idea of OOC stats, would give people something to write in the vehicle's description that's more specific than "performance package" or "great engine" or "upgraded brakes" and it would create more immersion surrounding vehicles and mechanic garage. Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? Great improvement to immersion. Additional information: This is definitely the solution but it is a solution, a step in the right direction.
  11. As some people have pointed out, it'd be a good idea but it would not work in practice. It's little pay-off compared to a lot of hard work and a huge burden added to the responsibilities of the staff team.
  12. I want to start this off by saying that I'm not a fan of most robberies that take place on the server and that I am not, in any way, involved in this type of roleplay, however I believe that /showitems should definitely have a place when a robbery is being performed. Being forbidden from asking to see the other person's inventory will lead to an enormous amount of abuse. If that were the case, no items nor money would ever be robbed from that point on - everyone would roleplay having nothing on them and the robber would never be able to report them for that because they would never know if they lied or not. There has to be some sort of standard regarding when it is appropriate to be shown the inventory and I believe that the best time for that to happen is after all of the frisking has been done. Once you're shown the inventory, you can't go back and frisk them again to find something you didn't find the first time. This would make it fair for the player being robbed by preventing the robber from finding out about their items OOCly and looking specifically for them and it would also be fair the the robber by giving them a chance of actually finding something. If the RP is not properly done and they don't specifically look in a certain area (e.g. /me frisks X compared to something more in depth) then that's on them. This would work best with a script addition in which you'd be able to set the location of all of your items (a simple /itemloc [id] [description]). That's the best and only way to make it fun and fair for everyone, in my opinion.
  13. This is a really good idea. Maybe make it like the Ban Appeals / Staff Applications sections - only you can see your own topics + other people who have the link.
  14. I would only support this if there was a fourth advertisement channel implemented for miscellaneous advertisements (news, protests, events, etc.).
  15. Short description: The ability to use an alternative spelling when looking up an address using /gps & being able to set the /gps to an entire street without a specific address Detailed description: Right now, the GPS script only works with full addresses. It's great that we have such a feature, but I believe that some much needed improvements can be made. The first suggestion is to be able to look up for alternative spellings of an address. Basically, not being limited to use "/gps 1234 Joshua Rd." but also being able to spell it as "/gps 1234 Joshua Road", "/gps 1234 Joshua Road.", "/gps 1234 Joshua Rd" etc. You sometimes know the exact address but there's lots of situations in which some guesswork is required. This would also include an adaptation for apartment complexes - right now, you can't go to an address if you don't know the floor and apartment you're looking for. If you're being told to meet at 1234 Joshua Rd., you have to write "1234 Joshua Rd. Floor 3 - Room 13" in order to get there and so on. The second idea is to be able to use GPS in order to reach a certain street rather than addresses. If you want to go to Harmony and have no idea where that is, do "/gps Harmony". If you want to go to Joshua Road but not necessarily an address, do "/gps Joshua Road". This would a lot of businesses - lots of them advertise being GPS marked but because of the high number of blips, it's most of the time hard or even impossible to see which blip is which business. They can just include the street as well and people could get there much, much easier. Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? Quality of life improvement. Additional information: These could have been suggested in the past but I did not manage to find anything.
  16. While I don't use Facebrowser for either of my characters, I think this would be an amazing idea and it would encourage lots of RP. It's a basic feature, after all. Let everyone use it and highlight/promote events made by donators (just like posts and pages) maybe?
  17. This would be a nice thing to have. Maybe even expand it to two commands - one to check the items around you (a list, just like /inv, each item having a unique ID) and one to take a specific item.
  18. Vehicle impounds are slowly being taken over by the GOV Public Works department which is great to see. It'd be a neat thing to be able to start a towing company though, I fully support this!
  19. Notifications are definitely needed. I had no idea that if you revoke a license via the MDC, the other party does not get notified. If we're at it, a notification should be sent for outstanding tickets as well (not sure if this is a thing or not). I love the fact that lots of actions can be done via the MDC when the players are offline though. It'd be a hassle getting to everyone when both players are online.
  20. I definitely support this, it'd only create more immersion and maybe a little less confusion but I don't think it will fix anything really. There's two main reasons: CCTV is and will always be something that has to be agreed upon by all parties involved. Even if there's a CCTV camera, unless you're standing right in front of it, it will always be debatable whether the angle is or is not captured. The point of the CCTV rules surrounding some types of establishments is to prevent crime on an OOC basis in places where it would not happen - not necessarily because of CCTV systems. You might be located in front of a police station, bank, hospital or what not. Even if whatever illegal actions is not directly captured by CCTV, there's a huge chance that said action will be witnessed by many people and the authorities would be alerted. The only way actual CCTV could work and not require any OOC permission would be if there was an actual CCTV script that would record and save recordings from all cameras, thus clearing all confusion but, unfortunately, that's most likely not possible to do.
  21. I also agree with @zaXer.. It's a good suggestion in theory but in practice it could go south really easy and really fast. How do you draw the line between an acceptable mileage and one that's done for trollish purposes? How can you prevent people from RPing their vehicle being a 1920s first edition with 800,000 miles on it? You can't really tell someone who's RPing such a character properly that their character is trollish when it really wouldn't be. This would also render mileage useless in the long run. We'd have huge differences between most vehicles with a mileage <2000 and some with crazy high mileages. These vehicles would also be unsellable or they would be really cheap, which could mess up the whole idea of selling a vehicles. We'd have the same situation that happened when insurances were first introduced - people mainly looked for vehicles that were already insured and were selling them before the insurance ran out. In this case, we'd have people buy vehicles right after being serviced, drive them for a week and sell them and it makes sense - why pay $100,000 for a good Cara when you can pay $50,000 and get another one the next week? I don't know. It's a nice idea but is it really needed? Can't it be done by a request through /report? It's not like that many people will need their mileages bumped up artificially.
  22. That's exactly why I suggested it. There isn't much continuity when it comes to such measurements. You can have your game calculate distance in kilometers while the speed is in miles per hour and your inventory is being measured in kilograms. The weather currently states both F and C temperatures. I don't think this relates to continuity though - it's just an aspect that improves quality of life and makes it easier for most players to navigate (considering that most people on GTA World do not use / are not familiar with the imperial system).
  23. I also support what others have suggested - both wind speed and humidity.
  24. That would be a great solution.
