  1. I do understand that those crimes are committed there and if you read the entire post you would notice how I explicitly stated that this kind of thing happening is cool, long as you do not do that on the main streets or driving up to people four deep to mess with them and ask them "where they from cuh". If you get caught lacking in an alleyway or some shady corner, I don't care, getting pressed is just shit that happens. Welcome to America. You still do not shit where you eat, like I said. The LAPD does not fuck around, whatever happens in parking lots, alleys, on corners and in tight streets does not count because not even the cops go there unless they get a 911 call. But main streets, with traffic, vehicles around and people walking by? You do not fuck with the locals there because there is a high chance someone will see you, call the cops and make them your next worry. Just because you can, does not mean you should. Just because there are no patrols and no Players around to witness, does not mean you should. The place where you choose to G-check someone might just not be a good one, as it may not be completely logical to pull up to someone minding their own business four deep and ask them "Where you from cuh?". I've never stated that I do not believe this kind of crime happens in those neighborhoods, they're called hoods and ghettos for a reason, it's fucking bad down there. But it is still America, not Afghanistan. Not mainland China. Just because we are basing ourselves off real life America does not mean our gameplay experience should 100% depict the absolutely miserable and fucked up state the country is in currently. We cannot possibly comprehend mass shootings and such, that's why they rarely happen on the server. There are not enough admins to overwatch such scenarios. There is a reason why Nervous has ruled that the COVID pandemic or UK-RU war are not to be roleplayed or even talked about. It is to keep Players away from those topics so they can log in and enjoy a gaming session without having to worry about the real life shit going on around them. Therefore, regarding what I said above, again - just because it happens in real life does not mean it should happen on our server. This is still a game, this is still meant to be enjoyed by me and you. It can be gritty, brutal, depressing and what not - look at Cyberpunk 2077, a game that made me cry on multiple occasions after seeing how fucked up the world is, is still enjoyable to me, because despite the fucked up lore and environment it can still tell a good story, it can be a warning to the future generations. Great RPG despite what people say about it. Let's not derail the topic though, just making a point. We're kind of comparing apples to oranges too, so.
  2. Glad the slight derail finally brought something. What you guys are talking about above is the example of what I meant by not being a shithead. If you are new on the block as a faction then don't press civilians and ask them where they're from and such. They probably live there and roleplaying their presence as being some kind of nuisance is borderline unrealistic. It is being a shithead just to have a potential escalation from a civilian. One wrong word from their side and some people will try to justify beating the shit out of them for that reason. A lot of people have said this already, but this was a right statement - as a gangster in real life, you do not shit where you eat. You do not fuck with random people on your black because real life is not GTA 5, you will get the gang unit called onto the block and they'll be your next worry. Just because GTA World does not have constant patrols and such going on in many streets does not mean you should treat the streets like it's a Brazilian Favela. Realistically, there would be people there minding their own business. I once again, going back to something a person wrote, will say this: Pressing someone like that in an alley? Cool, realistic, fuck with them all you want. But do not drive around four deep in some sedan, fucking with people and asking them where they're from while they're walking down the street next to businesses, vehicles and other people. Once again, just because you can press those civilians doesn't mean you should. Just because there is no server rule regarding lore/continuity that explains how these situations should be played out does not mean you can lack common sense to be a shithead and be that one character who asks a year-long local "Ayo cuh you new here?". This is not to bash the gangsters, this is to bring light to the issue of this kind of thing happening. If we, as a community, could get along we would probably understand each other better and know not to roleplay this kind of shit. We currently stand pretty divided between civilians and criminals but in reality a lot connects us. Criminals don't do crimes all day, they roleplay going to bars and pubs, they roleplay hanging out with each other. Civilians don't do esex and Menyoo all day, we also roleplay... sometimes, lol. Let's shake hands and come to an understanding. So yeah, wow, we actually fucking came to a conclusion in a general discussion. I am so proud of this community. I am glad we are actually staying on topic, so please keep it going smooth so this doesn't get locked.
  3. keep it truckin homie
  4. Yep, agreed. Exactly why I ended the post with "In roleplay you do not lose, you develop."
  5. Indeed this is also what I should have mentioned in the original post, this is more about that. This is also why I specifically asked everyone to not derail this into a thread that is going to bitch about criminals, since they are not the only ones in the wrong.
  6. I wrote this to make a point that just because you can, it does not mean you should. That's literally the entire post summed up into one sentence. We need criminals to do bad things, we just don't need criminals to cause us, the Players to feel like that scenario has given us absolutely zero enjoyment. I enjoyed getting beaten up, robbed and victimized multiple times on this server, there are good roleplayers who understand the concept I talked about. This message is targeted more so towards the new players who might have a skewed perception that this server is somehow a competitive dick measuring contest, when in reality it isn't.
  7. Brief edit: This thread is not aimed to shill an idea that this server should be an utopia. Whatever we make this server out to be, it is going to be that. Our world, it can be a crime riddled shithole, but the brutal crime that will take place will not have to be inconvenient to another Player. This is about being mindful that other OOC Players might feel like they've gotten completely nothing out of a scenario you dragged them into. Absolutely zero enjoyment. At no point has this thread been about STOPPING CRIME COMPLETELY, so anyone who brings that up again, please read over this thread again. This thread is NOT STRICTLY ABOUT CRIME. This goes both ways and many other ways. ONCE AGAIN, the EXAMPLES below are EXAMPLES. Edit 2: The topic has been changed but point still stands. Harmless roleplaying, what I mean by that is an idea that basically goes something along these lines: "If my character can do this to this other character, that does not automatically mean that it is a good idea." or "If I can play this character type, it does not mean I should, because it could cause other Players to suffer instead of enjoy the gameplay." This concept has been prevalent in other roleplay communities, including GTA Roleplay communities for decades. It is rather simple and it is good, because it accounts for the enjoyment of the happening scenario on both sides. This is not a competitive gamemode and therefore I am here to entertain you as much as you are here to entertain me. We must stop the dick measuring contests. By victimizing people and borderline crippling them, causing them to start over at a hospital etc. you are not proving to anyone that you are a badass gangster, you are proving to us that you do not consider our enjoyment, only yours. This does not only go for these scenarios, just an example. Long story short, for the love of God please remember this the next time you want to kill that civilian who called the cops on you from across the street. Just because you can and just because you are a MS-13 gangbanger or whatever does not mean you should. Nobody cares how badass psycho that gang is in real life, we're just here to do our thing and we will let you do yours, should you catch us lacking in an alley or something. Can't we all just get along? It's been going on for years and fucking up this community. I swear nobody would bitch about encountering criminals if people weren't such shitheads when it comes to this. On both sides. Do NOT derail this into another criminal bitching thread, this is not about that and the scenarios above are examples of what should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. This is about the concept of not being a fucking shithead and causing suffering to another player. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. And remember, in roleplay you do not lose, you develop.
  8. I don't think there are too many foreign characters, remember that a lot of characters with foreign names roleplay being born in America. From my experience, most foreign looking characters have actually been born in America, many roleplay being born in Los Santos itself. A lot of the foreign characters are indeed British but that doesn't mean every single one of them is bad. No hate towards the British, but they do have their own sense of humor and yes, they do come off as dickheads, that's just British humor/culture for you. I respect people who can roleplay a character that makes my character uncomfortable or annoyed, it's just great portrayal. As long as your backstory makes sense, and your character contributes to our virtual society in any way, I don't care. We complain a lot as a community and I think that it ruins us and hinders our development in many cases, because people refrain from doing X or Y due to peer pressure and just block their development and roleplay. Do what you want, as long as - like I said - you contribute to the roleplay, society and as long as you are not a walking stereotype who's entire purpose is to be a social bot or a character used for ERP to jerk off and log off two hours later. So yes, TL;DR there are lots of foreign characters, but some only seem foreign and are actually American. A lot of characters who are foreign are not immediately bad. Social bots and ERP throwaway characters who are walking stereotypes are an issue but it is a low severity issue. You can avoid them by telling them you're not interested IC, and you will get development out of that because that situation might potentially change what your character is like. You have to look at things with just a little bit of positivity, instead of saying that everything is immediately a problem.
  9. This, I know my previous post has been written in a way that makes it difficult to read but I'm glad someone was patient enough to acknowledge what I've said. This server keeps biting itself in the ass, we should all stop using Discord and go back to roleplaying how it should've been. We would go back to forums complaining about issues that actually hinder our player experience, instead of running to admins with the tiniest offences and random bullshit. This server actually has so much potential, especially now with new devs, and yet nobody besides the few of us openly talks about how blips being gatekept behind paywalls are the dumbest shit that keeps cutting this server's balls off as soon as they grow back. We must, as a community, openly criticize this whenever we can, because this is the only way we'll get acknowledged. I know why people don't bring this up - it's because they always get the same answer, that the limit of blips is 100 or that the server has to be paid for. Regarding that, I will unironically pay monthly to play here now. Why? Because of people like valelele and the rest of the dev team. Good guys who came here in the clutch and started fixing this pathetic mess consisting of many bugs and outdated scripts. The least I can do is give them and papa Nervous my token of gratitude and keep this project going forwards with a donation. Other people will follow, because I know for a fact we are generous and willing to support servers that show that they care. The reason why most businesses we see now are the same shit over and over and over again is because current business owners - not to offend anyone - are to some degree fucking braindead. There are people paying monthly to keep a business running and they succeed only because people who are not willing to do that have a tremendously hard time keeping their own businesses running. This is why those businesses we see are TRASH, they don't care about player experience, they care about grinding fictional money and maybe spending it on renovations once in a while. This is killing the server, on god. Legal roleplayers ain't got SHIT to do if there is nowhere to roleplay around. And ain't nobody gonna awkwardly stand in the streets, roleplaying something random because we are not in the ghetto. Like I said earlier, WE NEED COMPETITION AND MORE BUSINESSES NOW MORE THAN EVER. We NEED this to populate this empty ass map, we NEED this to create roleplay hubs, hell... we NEED this to create roleplay even without the fucking hubs. PLEASE for the love of lord almighty, Management, devs, everyone in this community, wake the fuck up. To remain somewhat on the topic - no, money being IC and OOC is not that big of an issue. The issue currently is that giving the server OOC money makes it easier to get IC money. This hinders player experience for masses who do not want to be bartenders, cops, managers and advertisers.
  10. Nah... Rockstar doesn't care about shit but earning a buck from GTA Online.
  11. Even if the media gets on our asses, who cares? Video games, especially roleplaying games have been stigmatized and shat on for decades now, be it by the most generic news outlets to some niche newspapers that nobody reads. I am sick and tired of this server being so politically correct and catering to the most normie audiences. I don't have anything against "normies", just using the term to describe someone who is generic, not that it is a bad thing. I want to roleplay in a realistic setting, if that implies that a school shooting is going to happen, then that's just what happens in the USA. Since we are a roleplay server we should do what we can do deter people from having these kind of ideas, but if there is proper development, proper escalation and proper preparation that leads to something like this happening, then who cares? This would most likely be punished by administrators anyways for being mass-DM, therefore I don't get why we are worried about school shootings happening. My point still stands - who, cares? We would get shit from the media if people weren't so afraid to speak out loudly that they roleplay cute girls on GTA in their free time, but nobody does that. Most people keep it low key because they think it's a loser thing, and that's okay, because we don't get attention from the media. Fuck media outlets, fuck social media, fuck anyone who dares step in here to tell me that what I am roleplaying is incorrect and sickening because something bad happened. I am NOT IMPLYING THAT I WOULD WANT TO roleplay a school shooting or anything else that is such a touchy subject to some people, I'm just saying this is LITERALLY JUST A GAME and anyone who takes it out to the real world to complain about how fucked up it is should go outside, touch grass and DEFINITELY get laid. This is entertainment like anything else, this does not have to be a politically correct thing. It can be brutal, thought-provoking and that is what makes it enjoyable. If this server was not so PC, we would get more action that is actual roleplay. Because people are scared or lured away from anything even remotely politically incorrect, they resort to gunfights, brawls and e-sex for fun instead. Shit that gives you absolutely zero development in many cases. I am not saying that your roleplay has to be politically incorrect and offensive to be fun, but I am saying that shit like this is what occasionally makes things fun. And once again, shit like this happening in a fictional world could be interesting to see. I am not speaking about IRL because that's obviously rather wrong and sad, but we don't need to talk about that now. And let's not talk about that now because there is absolutely no need to derail the topic. This is the single worst thing about this server - us being a community of losers, weirdos and niche roleplayers who want to have fun and don't give a shit about anything being offensive constantly getting silenced or outspoken by some "normies" who have never touched a roleplaying game before and are genuinely terrified of what could happen, in a FICTIONAL WORLD. It is almost ironic. These people come to us, join our GTA communities and then they're acting soooo fucking surprised that this isn't SIMS 4 roleplay in some utopian environment where crime does not happen. Everyone, this is not an attack on people, if any of these sentences come off as an attack, I just want to state that this is indeed not an attack on anyone. This is just me letting my frustrations out because like I said, I hate the fact that this server is going to shit because it wants to be so politically correct. And then you can't have nice things because something bad might potentially happen. I bet my ass everyone else is as fed up with this as me. Please let this become a thing and if shit happens, ban people who caused it. I agree that school shootings should be heavily moderated or not happen at all because it's mass DM at the end of the day, but let's also take a moment here to consider where the hell this server is going. If we can't even have a high school to roleplay in because people are scared of it turning into a shitfest, something is either seriously wrong or people don't know what roleplay server they signed up for.
  12. This shit would actually give (M)inors a place to roleplay, I approve of this. I believe this community can make it an enjoyable place and I am tired of the constant shit talk and bringing people and their concepts down. Give this a try, if it turns into a shitstorm, ban the involved parties and let it continue. Like the person a few posts above me said.
  13. I don't see reasons not to, I guess? Kind of defeats the purpose of a lifer character, but at the same time, at no point has it been stated that lifers are on life without parole (to my knowledge, but it also says jail-only so we could argue). Also, as far as I remember, the SD already has a program for parole which you can apply for, so this therefore should not be that difficult to implement.
  14. I had it happen once, I successfully distracted a robber and escaped, only to find out that later they've gotten themselves killed by the cops to avoid consequences. They respawned with no issue. They must've started blasting first. I 100% agree with this.
  15. It sounds good on paper but in reality for many people it's just gonna be a pain in the ass and an useless bar that you have to keep filled. Unless you add RPG mechanics related to it like fat, weight, strength, fainting when you don't consume anything for excessive amounts of time etc. it's literally an useless bar which would boost businesses on the server as more people would end up eating food, but at the cost of the feature itself being a pain in the ass for the players. RPG features associated with this would not be added like, ever, because people would fucking FLIP.
  16. It has no business being this bussin on pizza
  17. Like I said, I wanted to mention this briefly just so I don't come off as some snowflake who is triggered over transgender characters being portrayed as stereotypical fuckmachines with nine inch cocks. What you said is completely valid and whilst we're here, I think it is good that you mention it and bring it to light. It still has little to do with the issue at hand, I was talking about portrayal itself. The stereotyping and dehumanizing of trans characters to the level of ERP bots with traits that aren't even humanly possible. Transgender roleplay itself is fine, it can be funny at times, even. But I do see how this connects to the real world - trans people getting shit because of a loud minority, this can be compared to transgender characters on GTA World getting a bad rep as a whole because of ERP bots. Just like I said in my post. I just want people to realize that not every character is going to be like that and that those characters do not always deserve to be ignored, avoided or to be shit talked behind their backs on an OOC level. Like I said, IC prejudice, discrimination and harassment is 100% valid if your character has those kind of viewpoints. To be honest this goes for all characters. Do not throw everyone into one bag, be it trans characters, LEOs or gangbangers. Anyone and everyone deserves to be respected in roleplay, and I do not mean IC respected, I mean OOC respected. You do not go out of your way to NOT roleplay with someone because their character happens to be someone specific. This shit has to end and it is coming to an end, it is an issue that is slowly disappearing within our community and I am proud of GTA World for progressing past that bullcrap. I do currently roleplay a trans woman character and I've been having nothing but genuine fun, I do hope that my character can be an example of how you can roleplay being a normal trans human without the need to base your character around sexual stuff. To finish this off, this once again comes back to the real world. People who base themselves around their sexuality, make it their whole personality are frowned upon, ignored, and all for good reasons. They are fucking unbearable, I do not even blame people for being how they are, all things considered.
  18. It wasn't you specifically, it's just a dumb idea over all to put anything behind an application. Also plus one on the Fire Marshals, I hate them with a passion.
  19. I don't want to be this one snowflake so please don't take this reply as such, I'm not a SJW or crazy on the opposite side of the spectrum but I am honestly fucking sick and tired of it too. Trans characters get the same treatment that trans people do in real life - someone in the loud minority of the LGBT community does some stupid shit, like saying that for some reason trans people need rainbow or trans-flag-colored sidewalks to walk on, otherwise they will not survive properly, and everyone flips their shit. To further prove that I am not going anywhere crazy with this, I wanna state that I do not associate myself with the LGBT community for this reason, a lot of other people who are gay, trans etc. also do not associate themselves with that community. There are some good things they do as a community, and a lot of dumb shit that they do which I will not call them out for because that would completely derail the topic and get me convicted of multiple hate crimes. This post is not my opinion about that community and I do not wish to indulge in any further conversations about it, just stating my position. It has to be said that trans characters are indeed, sometimes, roleplayed by idiots who do not do their research of what goes into transitioning. Does everyone do this? No. There are people who roleplay normal, everyday people but they happen to be trans. With jobs, with partners who do they do not cheat on, with careers and decent jobs. The problem also lays on both sides of the spectrum. And I will prove it to you in my next point. I really want to prove a point and I apologize for this not being an unpopular opinion but more of a fact, but it has to be said. I literally live in the worst county for LGBT people in the EU - Poland. And I am trans. And hear me out... I get less harassment, gossip, weird looks from people when they realize I'm not "real" than I do on GTA World as a trans character. This is not to say that trans characters are often victimized or bullied, but you do see massive amounts of people who just talk shit about them for absolutely no reason and avoid them like the plague. This comes back to what I said earlier - people not doing their research and roleplaying stereotypical, bland, overly sexualized and perfect characters. Lesbians have already been destroyed by this, now trans people get destroyed because more and more people are aware of the fact that "holy fuck trans people exist lol". Certain people on GTAW have gone as far as to propose that trans characters should be put behind applications. I think putting anything behind an application is the most retarded move you can make, so let's not do that. Let's call out people who roleplay these bad characters and report them. And do not report them because they are offensive, I can tell you on behalf of trans people in real life, we do not give a fuck about these characters being offensive, we have more serious shit to figure out lmao. Report them for breaking rules - portrayal, realism, but also for being unfit for our community and roleplaying something that is a walking stereotype. Unfortunately, transitioning is often very ugly, it has a massive toll on your mental health, it is an extremely long process and in the end it might not produce the proper results you wanted in the first place. The chances for very specific things to go wrong with you during transitioning are slim, but never zero. And these sometimes are not properly roleplayed by people, everyone is the perfect trans chick with nothing in particular sticking out until they happen to whip a pair of male genitals out. Working male genitals too, despite the character being on hormones that kill erections and sperm in the majority of trans women, especially when you're at that phase of it where you have the looks you wanted (multiple months or years). I dunno about trans dudes because I have honestly never seen a trans man on this server as a character, but they probably get shit too. I want to avoid talking about this on any deeper level, because someone might get triggered, but it literally HAS to be said. Not even to soften the harsh treatment that these characters get, but I feel like this has to be said because actually decent trans characters deserve some recognition in our community. Lastly, my unpopular opinion: trans characters getting IC harassment or hate is real and roleplaying someone who has prejudice against them is totally fine and realistic. Stop pretending like this server is an utopia, it's the same shithole real life Los Angeles is. You might get away with being trans because the state is progressive as hell, but someone will still spit next to you and call you the f-word. But also stop avoiding these characters only because some retard has ruined their reputation for you. Roleplay with them, treating them how your character normally would, if they show signs of being a dumbfuck, /report. End of the thread. TL;DR: I agree and I hate to agree. Trans characters get shit just how trans people do in real life, good job GTA World, you destroyed lesbians, now you will destroy the trans folk too. This isn't said totally seriously, the fact that people roleplay walking stereotypes doesn't somehow ruin my personal life, but it is sad to see.
  20. On the side, that scent is fucking magical so anyone who uses it IC gets a pass from me for having it in /examine Actually no, explain that is has notes of vanilla and pink pepper and whatever the fuck else they use. Most people won't know what half of these ingredients smell like anyways but at least it's a step in the right direction.
  21. i am tired of replacing my swear words with bababooey, how the fuck am i supposed to bully whitenames? plus juan
  22. 1) - What sort of business do you find yourself wanting more of on GTA World? I want to see more businesses which provide services of any sorts. Corporations to roleplay in, public works, maybe the postal service or delivery services which aren't strictly trucking. We could do with a few more restaurants too. Hell, even travel agencies could be fun if your imagination is crazy. 2) - What types of businesses aside from clubs and bars would make the city feel less empty in your opinion? The city currently feels empty due to blips being gatekept behind a paywall. It does not matter what type of business, it matters where and how dense the area is. We are at a point where we desperately NEED competition between businesses. If you even had three different bars in a single street, you could have something for everyone. This would lead to people roleplaying more in a dense area, therefore eliminating the empty street feeling. Let's say that besides those bars you had two restaurants open, within walking distance. You could literally get fucked up in a bar or club and then go eat at a spot two minutes away. This would be great. The question said no bars and clubs, so there you have it - businesses that are there ALONG WITH the bars and clubs. Restaurants, hookah lounges, food trucks, beauty salons, just everyday regular grocery stores or some hippie vegan bio stores. We're in a California-inspired setting after all, how come most of our businesses are so fucking boring when real life Los Angeles is booming with different stuff around every corner? 3) - Are you pleased with the current state of the GTA World business scene? No. I am not pleased, I hate some of the aspects. There is a complete lack of competition due to the paywall behind blips. I do not find the over-mapped nightclubs entertaining, I do not go into most bars. I avoid working at most of the server owned businesses as there ain't shit to do besides /ame breathes when nobody is watching you roleplay. I like to interact with the game so trucking and the businesses associated with it from the companies to the ones you deliver to are a fun addition but I think that trucking itself is way more entertaining and stimulating than slaving away at a 24/7 or gas station. I can only speak from the experience in trucking and some other jobs, I'd say trucking creates some dope networking if you work independent. Other businesses don't really give you that option. Also please do not take this as me derailing the topic but the Fire Marshals can go fuck themselves with their closures of businesses which violate the fire code or whatever. I understand that it adds to realism and such but they, as a faction, do not bring anything worthwhile to the server and yet they hold such a high power, where they can shut down a business over the fact that a Player couldn't give two shits about their stupid paperwork. I am bringing this up because said paperwork and bureaucracy is ridiculous. I work at a corporation in real life, we have a very loose and chill workflow but we are still a corporation and nothing will change that. And yet still, I file LESS stupid paperwork than I would if I wanted to open a business on this server. 4) - Do we need more server-owned businesses with some ''RPG'' elements to them? Or are player-owned businesses strictly the best option, or would a mix of both be better? Both. Some businesses would benefit from being owned by the server or at least being overwatched by an administrator or a team of administrators. Let's say we wanted a corporation to roleplay in, or at least some kind of office where we could roleplay and get the 4k paycheck for putting in work. I think that there is a only handful of players who could fit the role of any executive at a company like that. Same goes for how it is in real life. Whilst we do not need real life CEOs and directors to run a corp on a roleplay server, I think that having at least the right mindset is the bare minimum. I can see Aurum is doing mighty fine so kudos to them for being an example, I hope more large companies open up. I am certainly not against having the 4k paycheck there for everyone, with the possibility of an increase in pay the longer you work at your workplace. Not even depending on the position you hold necessarily. This would allow players to create actually fun and entertaining businesses, instead of picking out something from a list that hasn't changed for the past 5 years. If you think for a moment you will definitely find ways to establish a company and give 10+ people jobs for different positions which might require actual roleplay work, from paperwork to management, marketing or even PR. The bureaucracy surrounding most businesses should not be totally destroyed in my opinion, it's cool to keep things in order and have them on track. But it needs to be lowered from where we're at now. 5) - Should businesses/companies move towards the county? Do you believe this would increase county RP's popularity? Yes and no. They should move towards the county for sure. It will probably not boost the popularity by a lot due to the fact that many players prefer the city itself.
