  2. Evening all, (Disclaimer) I'm not sure whether this has been discussed or mentioned before and if it has, I'm sorry about bringing it up again. I've recently joined the community about 2 weeks ago so my information on how everything is supposed to work is fairly limited. It came to my attention twice that some property owners on the server are allowing multiple tenants to rent their property. This is going to be a touchy subject and I'd just like to let everyone know that this isn't to start an argument or to annoy anyone, I'm simply giving my opinion on a matter I think to be completely BS and unrealistic. I found a place to rent in mirror park last week. I was really happy as it was a one bedroom house with a garage. I thought I hit the jackpot in what seems to be a pretty difficult housing situation. Anyways, that's besides the point. The point is I went home one night after working at a bar and I noticed another player in the house. It then made me realise that whoever owns this property is clearly renting to multiple tenants to (in my opinion) abuse the script to make money. It simply doesn't make sense for a ONE bedroom house to have 8 tenants living under the same roof. (I found the number through an admin). Different circumstances could lead to multiple tenants living under the same roof such as a mutual agreement between friends but this wasn't the case. This was me living in the same house with a complete stranger. I rent in real life and if I was to come home after work to find a stranger moving his things in to my place I would be calling my landlord straight away and taking legal action. My point from this thread is for us to have a discussion about how we can make this more realistic. Property owners should have to follow fair guidelines and rules to prevent this non-RP happening. What do you guys think? You think a small interior with one bedroom can fit 8 strangers? Possibly 2 in the bed, one in the bath tub and the rest on the floor perhaps? (joke) I look forward to hearing your suggestions!

  7. I really dislike RP that involves taking others music. If you want to RP a musician but can't play an instrument or sing in tune - questions will always be raised around people knowing the process of recording a song, releasing it etc. If you make music, whether good or bad, then at least you're bringing something unique - you're showing that your character is capable of putting something creative together and that's what we should aim for. Stealing content, regardless of the circumstances (to RP a musician), isn't cool and we as a server shouldn't support it as it's extremely immersion breaking. It's like role-playing a video editor and having no understanding of making a video - so you just download PewDiePie's video and claim it as your own - it sucks and there should be a rule that stops people trying to claim other people's content as their characters entire role-play. A line has to be drawn somewhere, if someone can steal a song and claim it as their own, can they claim a video? a photograph? a poem?

  9. Daniel 'Blast' Portillo Birthplace: Paleto Bay AGE: 16 Orgin: Mexican/Honduran The New Kid Daniel moved to the neighborhood of El Burro at the age of fifteen when his mother won custody of his sister and him from their father. Daniel would frequently get out the house spending time with his dog Rocky to avoid the chaotic home life with his mother and stepfather. After sometime Daniel met Arturo 'Hopout' Diaz and Dylan 'Looney' Reyes. After some time hanging out with the duo Silent, Hopout, and Looney, Daniel was brought into the loop of the drug game. Enticed by the lure of money and financial stability Daniel began to sell more and more spending many hours outside of his home to push his product. Daniel didn't have interest in the gang life as it didn't appeal to him. His only goal was making more and more money and he got good at it taking advantage of fiends and Facebrowser to make sales. His Name is Blast Over time Daniel started to be lured to the gang life realizing that dealing drugs made money but didn't guarantee protection. Slowly over time Daniel began to pursue the gang life by choice as he watched those he called friends fall into it. During his early months in the area Daniel grew up in the heat of the war between Hillside and the 60s. After multiple affiliate deaths of Hillside and the war intensifying Daniel's change came at the death of Nicky Gomez who was someone Daniel found willing to listen to his issues. It was then he adopted the racist vibes of the area that the older members held which intensified due to the only smoke Hillside had at the time were with black sets. After a house fire that damaged his home and resulted in his dog perishing rumor from Armando Gomez circulated it was the work of a rival set which turned out not to be true. That night Daniel was taken to the 60s neighborhood by Hillside members in a attempt to strike back for their losses. A short search came up empty and in a fit of anger Daniel against his better judgment let lose a flurry of shots to a house in the neighborhood. From then on after members joked on Daniel's blasting at the home it was decided Daniel would be called Blast. Put on to Hillside X3 The following night affiliates took Blast again to the 60s neighborhood and like the night before it seemed to be an empty hunt. When the group prepared to leave a female walked down the road catching their eyes. When she was checked another car approached to pick her up. Armando 'Trigger' Gomez challenged them demanding they claim their set but the group didn't offer a response. Trigger opened fire on the group with a automatic and Blast followed up shooting aswell. It was unknown if the duo were indeed 60s affiliates but the group convinced themselves they had to be. That night Trigger and Blast were put on in a vicious beat in that made them full fledged Surenos and members of Hillside Trece Hellside X3 Younger members began to push the Hellside name and being misguided as they were old alliances forged by Hillside OGs began to become strained as younger members became careless and easily irritable to outside gangs. While remaining loyal to their Southside roots they began to show resentment for their fellow Southside sets feeling disrespected. Blast was one of the leading members who spurred others to this thought process. The resentment continues to grow and only time will tell the ending .

  10. History – A glance In the early 1900s, the first wave of the Korean immigrants settled at the foot of Pillbox Hill, which was known back then as “Old Koreatown”. Due to their social status, many of them found themselves labouring menial and domestic jobs, jobs that were otherwise considered below local residents. It wasn’t until the 1930s that the Korean population began relocating to what is now known as Little Seoul, establishing a proper community. “They moved there, because, as people of color, they weren’t allowed to live in other areas.” Little Seoul is a neighborhood in Central Los Santos, dubbed “K-Town” due to the formation of an ethnic enclave in the early 1970s. Whilst records show that Korean emigration to the United States began as early as 1903, Korean-American communities did not grow significantly until after the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. The communities saw a 2,500% increase in the Korean immigrant population in just ten years, which helped stimulate growth in the district. By the late 1970s, most businesses on Palomino Avenue and Lindsay Circus were owned by the Koreans. This played a crucial role in cultivating a sense of communal identity within Little Seoul, establishing itself as the primary hub of the Korean community in southern San Andreas. This has been strengthened by South Korean investment flowing into the neighborhood’s economy. Little Seoul, despite its name, is considered one of the most highly diverse areas in Los Santos, due to its composition being primarily Hispanic and only a third being Asian. “There were racially restrictive covenants in place until 1948. So, they were able to live in that area among African-Americans and Latinx and the Japanese-American community.” - Katherine Yungmee Kim, commenting on the migration of Korean immigrants in an article entitled ‘The best Koreatown outside of Korea’ During the 1980s, the neighborhood of Little Seoul was officially designated by Los Santos. Asian Organized Crime Organized crime in Korea began in the early 1940s during the occupation by the Imperial Japanese forces. They started as political enterprises, seeking to further the Korean National Independence movement, which eventually turned corrupt. In Korea, these criminal organizations are referred to as “PAs” and have rigid organizational structures. Their organizational structure is akin to that of its Chinese counterparts, Triads and Tongs, however, allowing more room between blue and white-collar crime. The South Korean dictatorship of Park Chung-hee, during the 1960s, saw habitual Korean mobsters, otherwise known as Kkangpae (깡패), flee to established Koreatowns around the world, including San Andreas’ very own Little Seoul. While Koreans had faced little trial and tribulation settling into Little Seoul, it is not to say that they didn’t face difficulties with local gangs in the area such as Crips, Bloods, and Sureños. Taking the initiative, groups began to form in order to protect their own, albeit they were frowned upon by the Korean population. They began forcefully recruiting teenagers from immigrant homes that were deemed dysfunctional to further their own causes. In 1990 the Korean government had declared a “war on crime” in an effort to crack down on violent and non-violent acts by criminally organized groups. Takedowns crippled organizations and gangs, but didn’t completely eradicate them as a play of being able to control them, which led to further emigration from Korea. Some fled to the United States where they would re-establish their criminal enterprises. New additions in Little Seoul meant that ties to home were strengthened, especially to the port city of Pusan. Come April 1992 race relations plummeted, following a trial which acquitted four officers of the Los Santos Police Department for excessive force in the arrest of an African-American man. Unrest spread like wildfire throughout the Los Santos metropolitan area and resulted in six days of violent riots. Koreans violently came to blows with the African-American community following the killing of a 16-year-old African-American high school student at the hands of Korean shop owner. Koreans disputed that the killing was in self-defense whilst the African-American community argued that it was racially motivated, which lead each side to stand by with their respective races. Korean stores were often guarded by volunteers as well as Korean gangsters armed with handguns, shotguns, and even semi-automatic rifles, as they could not rely on the LSPD. By the end of the riots, the Korean criminal groups had become solidified in the area and unified under their racial hatred for the African-American community in Little Seoul and saw to it black gang members were actively targeted, although these feelings were subdued over time after community leaders had discouraged this. Korean Americans not only faced physical damage to their stores and community surroundings, but they also suffered emotional, psychological, and economic despair. About 2,300 Korean-owned stores were looted or burned, damage that was estimated to be around half a billion USD, making up 45% of all damages caused by the riot. Modern day Little Seoul is still recovering from the chaos and economic disaster caused by the riots. The majority of the local stores that were damaged were never rebuilt as many store owners had little to no savings and they faced difficulties in obtaining loans that would help them rebuild their stores. In spite of all the hardship, Little Seoul today is one of the most attractive areas for investors, which has active establishments providing opportunities to local residents. It has also opened a window for illegal activities. These criminal groups operate in a similar manner as in Korea and engage in criminal activities such as drug trafficking, money laundering, extortion, home-invasion robberies, loan sharking, prostitution, insurance fraud, and alien smuggling. 11. Short description: A selection of lore-friendly low-medium range cars, motorbikes and vans. Detailed description: Okay so we all know that when cars are added to the server, a lot of the time they're of the higher end. But it would be nice to see more low-medium range cars added. So I've spent the time to look at multiple possibilities that I feel would make nice additions to the server and create more variety for players. This is purely a list for MODS, not base game cars to be added. I know a few will say "no, add base game cars instead of more mods" but for whatever reason, they haven't done that as of yet. I have not personally looked at each and every one of these cars in game, due to the time that this has gone up, but I'm more than happy to check them out myself, with other players or the modding team to determine whether they are of good quality.

  15. Some people will say it breaks immersion, and some will say it enhances it. It's just not worth it if it bothers too many people. Just RP that you're doing the music, because it would be a town that has musicians and actors in abundance. The character adds flavor. As I have a character that plays at being a music producer, I've tried to slice this all of the different ways being discussed. The actual music by the actual artist seems like the thing that not only bothers the most people, but it's on the shakiest legal ground. There are a few ways that I thought might be easier for other characters and their players to accept. 1. Cover songs- There are plenty of places to find public domain versions of commercial songs done by session artists. You'll usually see something like "Session Artist X inspired by Beyonce" or whoever does the original. They're royalty-free for the most part and you could play it like you're covering popular tunes to break into the biz while your Magnum opus is being written. 2. Mock-up- Just do things like album covers, song titles and maybe some lyrics. People who have done this were mentioned earlier in the thread and I agree that it was done well and was convincing enough to add immersion in a text RP environment. 3 Original Music - If you can write hit songs that will be loved by the masses, you really ought to skip playing this game and get on with your music, but some people do the music anyway as a hobby and I'm sure this would be welcome. My suggestion would be to just compose 1-2 minute simple things just for the game setting. If you've poured your heart and soul into your own personal music it might not be too much fun if your character isn't well-received. This community definitely has a toxic element to it that will tear something down just for the sake of doing it.

  16. It still doesn't help my main point - the fact that the person exists creates an awkward situation where people will always argue about it not belonging to that character. It's better as they have permission but that role-player cannot force that upon people by saying, "no this is my song". If we're defined as a heavy-rp server, then it's about making it immersive. If I hear Taylor Swift music, with Tay-Tay's blessing, being paraded as a character's, I'm not going to say, "Yep, that's not Taylor Swift." As Westie said: Roleplayer A decides to take an artists song and claim it as his own. Roleplayer B decides to take the exact same song and claim it as his own - who does the song belong to from an IC standpoint? The whole thing is lame and there should be a rule stopping people from using other people's work for their character development. Make it yaself. Haley Connor was an artist and she released her music text-based and wrote the lyrics. That to me is wonderful and how it should be if you are unable to actually create the music you wish to make.

  18. Then what about all your homies/all your paid men that would be "looking" out for your house, defending it, so on and so forth are offline as well? IRL a stash house would have people in it, IRL a stash house would have associates watching it 24/7. The only person to realistically steal from something like that in a criminal neighborhood would be Police & SWAT with a warrant. My character personally would be watching his house 24/7 because he knows whats in it. All his associates, as well. Everyone. When this first got introduced everyone freaked out for the same reason, then it was removed?
    1 point
  19. No, I agree with this. I think it's stupid to force people to store their weapons in a house because if you're offline, you can't defend your property. That is extremely unfair, too. Realistically, anyone breaking into my house would be getting shot; but if I'm offline, there's not a damn thing I can do about it. Let people store weapons in their cars.

  21. Nothing should stop me from commenting on that video ICly, "This isn't you, this is _______ singing." And that's where the problem lies in regards to immersion being broken. People /will/ call people out for taking another person's song, as they rightfully should, whether they give credit or not. If that was posted on Facebrowser, she technically isn't allowed to put the OOC part as it's entirely IC. You can't use that argument of IMVU or the Sims - we're talking about OUR role-play community where we're defined as "heavy-rp" - we should protect that image by placing a rule to avoid issues such as people claiming something is theirs and then being called out for it being someone else's (unless the RP they're going for). That's immersion breaking which we as a server are attempting to be immersive as possible. And just to add on, I really love that video. You can tell the creator invested time to nail the vibe and aesthetic and I absolutely credit them for that. But again, the issues arise when someone comments, "That's not you singing. That's ______".
