Walk around more

On my old character (an unarmed, civilian resident of Rancho) I used to walk all the time to make trips to the grocery store, the Pharmacy in Davis, the mall, etc., and essentially just try to RP around my character's day.

Whatever people say about the crime rate is in a lot of cases a vast exaggeration. I've spent actual hours walking around South Los Santos over the course of 6-7 months and I think I've been robbed... twice? Obviously people's experiences may vary greatly, but now I'm playing in Little Seoul and again, walking around the neighborhood and passively RPing my character's daily chores takes a lot of my IC time. It's one of my favorite forms of filler RP and I encourage everyone to try it, especially in places like Vespucci or K-Town which have larger communities that facilitate passive RP.

I absolutely wish more people did daily chores and whatnot.

I don't think I've ever seen someone call up an electrician or a plumber to fix up the toilet in their home , or hire a gardener to do their lawn; and rarely on top of that have I seen people doing their daily grocery shopping at stores. Could lead to a ton of potential unique job opportunities if people made utility companies.

This is a great idea if this server wasn't Night City. Unfortunately people literally cannot live one second without running a poorly roleplayed armed robbery on the side of the road, so it's really not feasible. You try to go for a walk and you are a bag of money with legs. God forbid your character is female, because not only will you be robbed, you probably might get kidnapped and hit with a rape request.

I'll start walking as soon as the server stops being worse than Brazil on motorobbers and drive-up shakedowns. Until then? Catch me inside, how bout that.

As someone with nearly 1,250 hours logged of duty time as LSPD since June of last year I can tell you the crime rate absolutely is that bad. You got incredibly lucky, or played a character who wasn't a target. It's an unfortunate reality of the server at this point, you can't go to a business without running the risk of someone coming up and shaking you down for your 5k, Pf gun, etc. On average we get about 5-10 robbery calls a day, and those are just the ones reported. Most go unreported because they take phones, too.

I don't think many people are worried about losing items so much as losing time and enjoyment. It provides little to no constructive RP to be robbed. It takes up time to then deal with PD and the aftermath, and after the umpteenth robbery on your character or a friend, people just don't want to deal with it at all. It's not fun for them, and it's not conducive to furthering anyone's roleplay other than the robber who was after items in the first place. VERY few robberies are portrayed correctly whatsoever. The majority are cookie cutter moto-robberies where you're told to showitems in /b and then your stuff is metagamed off of it. Simple fact of the matter is, people don't like being subjected to that kind of power fantasy black BF400 garbage. So they don't walk, they park close to the door and they always have their CCW on them.

Apologies for the double post, on my phone so quoting is hard.
