Prohibit Adult Video Companies from using /cad and /ad

Why should it be banned? Why don't you hear IRL or the ad appear on the radio (for example)? Who said that the ads are heard on the radio, or in the newspaper? The staff has never established by what means we receive the ads, if we get serious, why do I receive ads from bars and clubs? The latter doesn't make sense either.

 

It's a business such as a club or a bar, it's advertised as a club or a bar, it's legal, it doesn't harm anyone and the game has a rating of +18, as the Staff hasn't established by which means we receive the announcements, I think each one is free to RP as you receive the ads, these ads can be received via email (spam) or websites (within the legal).

 

It's not realistic, but receiving ads for open bars or events aren't realistic if we are strict.

 

About the bad image, I never saw it like that.

 

If someone spams /ad can be reported.

There's so few prostitutes/escorts/strippers on this server it's very disappointing especially considering you'd expect there to be more adult red light activities in a city like LS, I disagree and I think this would only worsen roleplay. I think so long as it's not obviously illegal/a scam it should be fine. I think if you want to abolish adult industry business owners not to use /cad or /ad you should offer another method where a high volume of people can see because it's simply unfair to alienate an integral part of roleplay. Prostitutes, strippers, and sex workers exist and to deny them and hinder that roleplay moreso then it already is, to me, is a disgrace.

A simple solution would be a command like /nsfwad, where people could optionally tog these kind of ads on or off. I'm not objecting to people who want to RP it, but frankly it's tiring to see a million ads based around sex all day. That's me though, like I said the command could do justice to all types of people.

 

There could also be keywords set that flag an ad as NSFW, and put it in it's category.

 

It would also need some documentation on what sort of ads are allowed in /nsfwad, and what isn't. Right now there is no line drawn.

I think it should definitely be monitored. The whole ERP scene, porn scene etc on the server is quite a disturbing one if you look deep for many of the playerbase. Especially when you consider 90% of the characters that involve themselves in this are men IRL (on a female alt or main character) and some of the stuff that is done can be considered quite extreme. Which behind closed doors is okay.

 

I think these companies should be monitored and what they are posting, how often, should be carefully considered. They shouldn't be prevented from advertising completely BUT putting some limits on it like reducing the amount they can use /cad or preventing them from using it completely could work nicely.

 

I'm sorry if my opinion here on the whole ERP scene might offend people, I don't have a grudge against people for wanting to RP this type of thing and wanting to buy in game porn but I feel for the players who aren't into the idea of in game porn at all (like honestly who buys that shit for IC reasons and uses it ic'ly?) it should be limited. The players who want that shit should sitll be able to gain access to it easy enough but the players who don't want access to it should be able to hide away from it easily to.

Honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal, especially in comparison to some of the weird shit you see on FaceBrowser. It's not like anyone is forcing you to buy porn, you can just ignore the advert like any other advert you're not personally interested in.

Do we really have to create a bubble for everyone's sensitivities? There are already rules on offensive roleplay. The advertisements themselves clearly abide to those rules, as far as I have seen anyway.

If you are unhappy with the ads you receive simply use /togglead. I find the whole ads system very unrealistic but since I got the option to switch it off, happy days. Also the script itself prevents spamming, it won't let you send two adverts one after the other.

I'm tired of checking my phone and Googling something IC just to have an eXXXotica/Sexplore ad pop up for no fucking reason.
