  1. Hello everyone! We would like to kick off this staff update with a special thanks to all of you for your activity in game this month! We are super excited to have hit 833 players online at one time this month! This is a record high for GTAW in the 3 and a half years we've been active as a server! We are so pleased with the recent growth of our server, and our increasing community size. We were also very exited to test out the new staff application system on the UCP this month and found that it went much smoother than previous months. We are very pleased with the outcome and thank everyone who applied this month, if you applied and found any bugs or issues please be sure to notify @Groz of anything. We would like to give @Everett a special thanks for setting up the UCP staff application system, and recognize the many hours he put into designing and implementing it. We're delighted with the engagement of the second election in the server! This election was the first to be contested for the State Senate since the switch four months ago, and both parties ran a terrific campaign - as announced by LSNN both split the senate 5-5 with over 850 votes cast. Legal FM will be looking at ways to give more freedom to the state senate this session and introduce new and fun ways to have politics play more of a role in our server, so now is the best time to get writing to your representatives to push for the policy you want to see! It's also finally time for 1.1 deployment : we've successfully deployed the update on live server after months of testing and working with Rage to fix it. The transition was really smooth and we are still waiting for our first server crash! Some amazing scripts are coming soon thanks to it : Pool games, new clothes, hunting, graffiti and way more! We can't wait to explore all the development possibilities that 1.1 opened for us. We thank you again for your dedication, and aim to continuously improve the server experience for all of you! If you were a staff applicant and were not given support you can check your application to see if it was marked as denied or reserved. If you have been denied or reserved you will need to request your denial reason through the forums and title the forum PM Denial/Reserved Reason Request and send it to Groz and Odin. As there is often a large influx of denial requests Please allow us 48 hours to update the status of your application, once your application has been updated with (Denied/Reserved) you may then request the decision reasoning. Once requested please give us 72 hours to respond to any denial reason requests. All reserved applicants will be automatically responded to with our expectations for your reserved month, there is no need to request a response on applications marked "Reserved". Any denied applicants this month may not reapply until the staff applications open again in June for July 2021's staff update.

  2. Los Santos (AP) - Saturday, at the federal courthouse, the jury unanimously voted to convict all seven of the reputed Greek Mafia members. The American public got a look at an organization rarely seen by the world. A shady group of illicit businessmen who rack in thousands of dollars whilst also flying under the radar through illegal trafficking, gambling, and intimidation. This distinct group of elite Greek criminals are known as νονοί της νύχτας (translated as "Godfathers of the night") or simply put "The Greek Mob". Although the charges differ on each man, things such as a murder, loan-sharking, drug trafficking and gambling were listed amongst a slew of other charges. Sixty-two year old Julius Masalis was pegged as the head of the criminal enterprise by both the FBI and key witness Kevin Sorrento who was a part of the San Andreas La Cosa Nostra family. For nearly thirty years, the Masalis syndicate was able to get away with just about everything under the sun, much of it without the FBI knowing a thing about them. If you ask most Greek-Americans, they will tell you that the Greek Mafia is a myth, an attempt to defame the positive image of the Greek people in America. However, Greek crime syndicates are rumored to be operating in Florida, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Santos, and San Fierro. The Greeks stay under the radar by keeping a low profile. Prominent members could be counted on one hand and the rest are low level associates who do minor crimes for the mob. Rather than drive the organized crime in a city, the Greeks prefer to fuel by playing the second or third fiddle to larger criminal organizations such as the Italian mafia. The Greek Mob has perfected the art of legitimizing themselves. Through legal businesses and through the careful deployment of “daisy chain” tax evasion schemes that stitch together sometimes dozens of shell companies. These tactics make it almost impossible to track the finances of the leaders without an inside man. The Greeks are almost a shadow and its members are experts at avoiding police detection. It's often said you won't know the Greek Mafia was there until they've left, since its design allows for the group to quickly dismantle and disappear whenever a threat appears. Members are incredibly elusive and will frequently change patterns or rackets in an effort to elude law enforcement. Infiltrating the organization has proved difficult, many informants do not know of the organization or know very little due to the organization's wariness of outsiders. That story was the absolute truth for Julius Masalis, Mark Kostopoulos and the leaders of the West Coast Greek mob for almost three decades. They raked in millions of dollars under the nose of law enforcement and little leaked out about them. It wasn't until Kevin Sorrento, a made member in a Los Santos based La Cosa Nostra family, flipped on his own organization that the Greeks were brought to light. Sorrento played an integral role in Greek-Italian relations, relaying messages back and forth along with organizing meetings. In January of 2014, he was arrested on a drug trafficking charge. Instead of doing the time he decided to flip. He was wired up and was able to record dozens of conversations with Julius Masalis himself along with other Greeks. This allowed the FBI to put the clamps down on the organization and finally arrest them in September. The organization is believed to nearly be entirely behind bars now, several of the members left behind sons and nephews who may be involved in criminal activity. Historically, the idea of family has meant a great deal to Greek gangsters and their sons often got involved. However, the San Andreas FBI says that it is unlikely because "their sons are college graduates, living their own lives, they're not involved in organized crime".

  18. Short description: I believe there should be a feature of player owned banks instead of everyone from the start having a bank account at Flecca Bank. It isn't realistic and we're not a communist society. We shouldn't be forced to one bank. With this being said people who make banks can have their own interest rates in the account types they offer. The main four account types are Detailed description: Checking - The home base of all accounts, this is where you get direct deposits, pay your bills, where people keep the money they need to get quickly. With this you can have other types of accounts. Savings - A checking account and savings account go together like Batman and Robin. They make a great team, and if you’re setting one up, you might as well set up the other. A savings account is exactly what it sounds like: a place to put your money that you want to save. It’s a great spot for funds that you don’t need right away but want to have nearby just in case. Take car maintenance, for example. If you set up a car maintenance sinking fund (a stash of money for expenses you know are coming) in your budget for things like oil changes, tire rotations and tune ups, you’re going to want to put that money in a savings account. You don’t need it every week, or even every month, but you need it to be easy to get to when the time comes. And if you keep it in your checking account, you might accidentally spend it. Money Market Account - Let’s pretend a checking account and a savings account had a baby. This sweet little money baby would be a money market account. Like a checking account, a money market account might come with a debit card, although some banks don’t offer this feature. And like a savings account, a money market account earns interest slightly more than a savings account while keeping your money separate from your everyday funds. This type of bank account is a good place to store your 3- to 6-month emergency fund so that it’s close if you need it but out of your everyday checking account. Certificate of Deposit - A CD is a certificate of deposit. It’s like a savings account but a savings account where you won’t earn much and you could lose even more. Yikes! So, it’s more like a certificate of depression—not a place you want to put your money. Nowadays, CDs have an average rate of return of about 1%. And when you consider that inflation goes up about 3% each year, then you could actually lose money. Nope. No, thank you. There are a range of CD term lengths, or “maturity dates,” and if you withdraw your funds before that date, you’ll get hit with penalty fees. CDs come in short-term (less than 12 months), mid-range (1–3 years) and long-term (4–5 years) ranges. With a CD, you’re basically loaning your money to the bank and they’re “rewarding” you with a little bit of earned interest. The longer you loan them your money, the higher your interest rate will be. Remember though, that “higher” interest rate is still usually not more than 1–2%. Your bank would love nothing more than for you to lose patience and cash out a mid- or long-term CD early so they can capture those early withdrawal fees. Sources: Source One Commands to add: Depends on the business and what type of accounts they'll offer and how to edit their interest rates and such for making an account. Items to add: New banking system accounts described above and commands for them. How would your suggestion improve the server? It would give variety of banking and not make the server a one-bank-for-all system. "EVERYONE GETS ONE BANK ONE BANK FITS ALL IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU GET EXECUTED" This system is very communistic Additional information: Contact me back if you have any questions about the system.
