Force vehicles unlocked if windows down / convertible / bicycles / motorcycles

Detailed Description

I always found it funny how when someone leaves their cars windows down, or the car is a convertible that somehow the vehicle is still locked when someone attempts to open it / hop in. I believe the vehicles should be able to be unlocked by any player if it is a convertible or if the windows are down for many obvious reasons, you can easily put your hand through the window and unlock it. (EDIT PER WUHTAHS SUGGESTION): Add bicycles to the list as well, they should be stealable if a player doesnt have a bicycle lock and has it rp'ly locked up.

 

Relevant Commands/Items

None, just unlock the vehicles if the windows are down / convertible / bicycle  or allow them to be unlocked by any player. Bicycle locks potentially which can be purchased at a store. 

 

How will it benefit the server?

Keeps the realism going, forces players to be more tentative towards securing their vehicles by closing the windows / closing the convertible roof.

Yes! bicycles as well, bicycle locks should be a purchasable item. Gonna edit and add this for sure.

Motorcycles should be included unless you got an actual lock for them as they work the exact same as bycicles.

In terms of Convertible/Windows Down. If a Car is locked. Pressing L should be available to anyone, as you could just reach in an unlock.

However, unlocking from an internal door, would still set off an alarm, if one is present. As Alarms are usually triggered on and off from the action of locking the door via the fob

 There are convertibles that you can't put the roof back on once you remove if at the mechanic for totally OOC reasons, game limitations.

This has been suggested before, and fortunately has not been implemented for obvious reasons. It makes those types of vehicles easy targets where they realistically wouldn't be. All this will do is exclude vehicle types from general use, because they'll be a magnate for theft.

I mean isn't that more of an IC reason of the player keeping valuable items in their vehicle / not rolling their windows up? I don't see the major difference personally as you'll need a lockpick to start the vehicle up regardless.

I don't think this would work well for convertibles. Like Jennie said, some convertibles... Their roof is added/removed in a mechanic garage because the game considers it a modification. This would make those vehicles basically magnets for car thieves because they can just hop in. And the owners can't do anything about it unless they just opt to leave the roof up forever. All this suggestion would do in this scenario is either encourage every convertible owner to abuse /vp or just deter people from owning convertibles in general.

And Some other convertibles, their roof is considered an extra in the mod shop. Meaning it changes every time the vehicle is respawned and it doesn't appear consistent for every player. Some players will see a roof and others won't. This is another problem.
