to that point, the trick isn’t necessarily to actively avoid erp it’s to use it when it makes sense in character and not just as interactive porn

Do not try ERP, it's a point of no return. Lost a lot of friends. Join a faction, before creating a char, think about what you want to roleplay since the first day you get out of the airport and stick to it, no matter what, you'll make friends and find roleplay very easy. If the server seems dead at the time you log in? Try some passive roleplay to develop your character, or go search about the type of roleplay you are doing. Most of the times you'll find very good interactions while doing some random passive RP and it maybe open some doors for you.

 

Last advice: Stay away from money farming and mallrats it's boring as hell to pretend that this server is GTA:O.
