  1. This character thread will follow the development of John "Scatter" Madeira, and may touch on some darker subjects, you've been warned! Born March 21st, 1984 in Dallas, Texas, John's only sister, Adeline, followed a few years after. Their father, Adrian, was a stonemason, a hard working man on a nine to five grind, and while he may've had little education outside of it, he was the type of wise that a long, troubled life may land you, while their mother, Jane, was left to be a stay at home mom, one to resort to alcohol in turn to her own long, troubled life. The moment things got stressful—with two kids to manage, they got stressful a lot—she did just that, and in turn, violence frequently followed. As wise as this man was, he was blinded by a love for his wife, John speaking up on his own with Adeline too scared to follow doing him little favors in convincing him of who his wife had become, yet he always stuck by her side. "You're no son of mine", years later, the last words spoken to John by his father and the last words he needed to hear to know it wasn't worth the effort, the death of his sister, having turned to drugs, breaking apart the family as it was. John, on the other hand, turned to the army, Operation Iraqi Freedom, MNF-I; perhaps they were both distracting themselves from the past, just in different ways. From 2003, it was 2006 when the impact caused by the force of a IED explosion shot out his back. Though he temporarily lost the use of his legs, he considered himself one of the luckier ones. This left John medically discharged and turning to Los Santos, Sandy Shores to settle. A few months later, he met a woman, Linn, one that he grew quite fond of and started to see. She lived with her father in Stab City, Harold, AKA "Hardy", a member of the Lost MC, of course, she only introduced him as she was already expecting their daughter, maybe not the best start between John and Harold, though respect was enough to fix that. Adeline was their daughter's name, named after John's sister, John, much like his father, taking a nine to five in a construction company, where he'd often head to the city to do so. With John pushing himself, the old injury began to act up, so he carried on after in the less legal route, gaining further trust with Linn's father, "Hardy", by assisting him in his drug trafficking, though a dispute between club and client, one day, wound up with Hardy's death and one very distraught daughter. This and the whole illegal employment was enough to push Linn away from John, saying she needed time, and so she left the father and daughter duo on their lonesome, in no mental space to look after her. Though it's not like John's much better off, his daughter was and is his world, vowing to himself he'd never fail in protecting her or being there for her, even with his many, many flaws, trials and errors.
  2. This thread will be following the development and growth of Malcolm Andrews, a growing member of the Cortes Aryan Skin Heads. Malcolm Andrews also known as "Mally" or "Junior" (was born July 3rd, 2003, East-west Los Santos, Vespucci Boulevard, San Andreas) is a newfound associate of the infamous Cortes Aryan Skin Heads or otherwise known as "C-A-S-H" - the group is widely known for their practice in hate-speech, theft, drug abuse, and violent tendencies. Malcolm was raised in a rough, abusive household with his older sister Melanie; who left when she finished her Freshman year of High school... His parents "Richard Andrews" and "Bethany Andrews" split due to his fathers alcoholic issues becoming more troublesome over the years, resulting in beating his son most nights to relieve the guilt and stress. Malcolm's childhood was anything but pleasant. He continued to watch his fathers life spiral down as he continued to consume his life in a plethora of liquor. Malcolm spent most of his nights out on the streets, not wanting to go home, not wanting to feel another belt across his face. Exhausted and hungry he often found his home around the other degenerates that around Vespucci, most of those who praised the rules of hate and greed. Into his late teenage years, he continued to visit the beach, bringing his BMX to the boardwalk and the skate-park, most often could be found with his new friend "Boozer", a sickly looking individual that was consistently trying to assure Malcolm that there were better means of life around the corner - family, money, power, and respect. Malcolm started to grasp back at reality, living with his own set of rules, left the motel that his father was staying in, and started to hang closer to the scum around the beach. Eventually Malcolm was shown some ways on how to make some money on his own, by any means. Malcolm realized that there was some serious money involved, already slapping palms up with some of his newly found brothers, going to parties, and finding himself talking with various criminals, taking drugs, drinking and further being intrigued by the environment. Malcolm was always interested in furthering himself, trying to test his boundaries, knowing how easy it was to get money only made his ambitions heightened, darker and more dangerous for a youthful mind. No school, no father, no mother, and no sister. Family to him was the Beach. Money to him was everything. Fathers to him were a hold-back. Mothers to him were a lie.

Short description: Two changes to help Prison RP be more engaging! -With the new, more secure Visitation area, allow visits without a guard present. -Implement a realistic Job system within the prison. Detailed description: Hi! So, just two ideas I've been spit-balling to make Prison RP a little less of a grind, and to encourage RP on the inside. -Guardless Visitation I've personally had a lot of interactions with the current visitation system... it's not really fun. For anyone involved. The visitors have to sit and wait for a guard, a guard has to stop what they're doing to come stand in a corner, and the prisoner gets thirty minutes of engagement. It's a pain in the butt for not a lot of pay off! It also really hurts people with different schedules and time zones, which is quite a few players. But with the new Visitation area and it's security glass, I think allowing free visits would be reasonable! No smuggling or confrontations that would require a guard (and the alert system would be useful if something did happen; loud arguments, banging on the glass, etc.) Just a suggestion, with the higher security, it'd free up players to RP more with the incarceration system. -Prison Work Add a job or two within the prison! Like, a script job. The prisoners earn some Commissary money while RPing, it's something to do besides waiting in the common area for idle chit chat, and adds a dose of realism to the jail! Potentially include a mechanic where the prisoner reduces their sentence as well for their work? Increase the 3x multiplier to 4x or 5x while actively working? As for the script jobs themselves, three feasible ones would be; -Janitor: Keep the jailhouse sparkling! Something akin to the Garbage Truck script system; get sent to a location, perform the action (unclog toilet, sweep area, bleach showers). Actively RPing it all of course! This could also encourage use of some of the lesser-travelled areas in the jail, Showers and Chapel and what-not. -Commissary Clerk: Gotta get your ramen somehow! Script wise, it'd be like any Business job. Start shift, RP sales, a % of selling items, etc. -Laundry: Clothes folding, the ultimate punishment. But, akin to the Janitor/Garbage jobs, get assigned tasks and RP completing them. Start load, fold clothes, sort dirty stuff. That sort of thing. Obviously, not just any prisoner can get these allowances; have them apply for the jobs either IC or on the Forums. SD can check their records and make a decision. Adds some motivation to be a well-behaved prisoner! So the lady who had a fender-bender with a cop car isn't in the exact same boat as the repeated offender violent cop killer. Commands to add: Script job commands for the three jobs! /wash, /sweep, etc. Items to add: Nothing I can really think of! How would your suggestion improve the server? Add some depth, motivation, and realism to the current Prison system without requiring a drastic overhaul. Make it worthwhile to do prison RP! Additional information: I saw some other threads about Prison suggestions, but thought that a milder one would be a good step forward, because, as it is... no one really likes RPing jail time, which is a shame, because there's a lot of potentially cool stories from it.   6. Short description: Time will decrease 6x faster if you actively roleplay in the jail! Detailed description: At the moment jail as a place is dead. All the inmates are staying AFK. Nobody really roleplay's. We are getting from 2 up to 15+ OOC'ly days to spend in prison but there is nothing to do. Most of the times there are no guards (this week I am spending in jail 5.5 days out of 7, trust me). I believe that this thing would really motivate people to roleplay and come IG with their characters. If guys can roleplay in prison 2-3 hours per day, then they are cutting their sentence up to 12-18 hours which is great. I believe that it would be the whole concept for the jail to be more alive. Commands to add: Nothing. You can change it script wise. Items to add: Nothing. You can change it script wise. How would your suggestion improve the server? It would make our current prison RP more active. Additional information: - Short description: Add tattoos/Barber shops to a prison. Detailed description: It would give some extra RP for the guys in prison. Commands to add: Nothing. In general we need only the same script from current barber/tattoo to use it. Items to add: Nothing. How would your suggestion improve the server? Guys are spending days and even weeks in prison. There is nothing to do in there. Additional information: It would give a little bit more realism, people are getting haircuts/tattoos in prison. It would be something nice for the illegal side of the server. Short description: Expand the current gym area in prison. Add more details for the current map. Detailed description: I believe that the current map should have more details. We have a bunch of good mappers who can help us out. Every single item can add some extra rp. At the moment the prison is very blank. Commands to add: Nothing. Items to add: Add more items in prison in general. More things/furniture and etcetera. How would your suggestion improve the server? Just a better role-play environment for the guys who are trying to role-play in prison. Additional information: Short description: Add some craftable items for the inmates. Detailed description: As an example prisoners can craft knives while using toothbrush and shaving razor. Commands to add: /craft knife Items to add: Toothbrush and razor is already there. How would your suggestion improve the server? This thing is very realistic. Additional information: Short description: Add /payphone in prison so inmates can call for their friends/relatives outside of the prison. Detailed description: Now it's not even possible to do this because there is no function for that so everybody has to metagame about being in prison because people just disappears. Commands to add: /payphone Items to add: There are phone booths in prison already. They are not working. How would your suggestion improve the server?   7. Short description: Thanks to a post by @cmrnkenzie & @Smilesville, this inspired be to write about one of the features that are essential and overlooked the most - Prisons. I feel that players who get arrested should have to pay their time IC, not given time for (x) amount of hours or minutes and then they just log out until their time is up. This takes away from the roleplay quality and closes the doors to many employment opportunities and etc. This suggestion will take into consideration the limitations put by RAGEMP and I will try to provide a "soft-version" until mods are fully supported in RAGEMP. Detailed description: So to start, I will say as always that this is a suggestion which I would love opinions and help from all of you so we can all create a comprehensive feature, together. This being said, I am open to comments on how this can be improved and/or changed. Without further ado... THE ARRESTING PROCESS: * Once a player is handcuffed and processed at the local PD and given their sentence (Time/Crime/Etc), they are held in a cell until they can be transported via a Prison Van. This can be done by either Prison Employees (or) an escort unit within the PD. * All player items would be stripped from them (including cellphones and licenses) until their release date. This can be available in the player's inventory, but nothing would be able to be used - Drugs would be excluded unless found. * The arresting officer will need to have processed the player with all their charges which creates a "Arrest Report" on the player's record. This would activate a boolean for example: isArrested: True - Allowing the player to be prisoned using /prison when arriving at the prison. NOTE: When the player(s) are given their sentence, the time served will not begin until they are escorted to the prison. This will help to bring out the use of lawyers, questioning and more possibilities for roleplay, including a "break out" if the situation deems realistic (eg. a high-value target such as a mob boss). ARRIVING AT THE PRISON: Once a player(s) is/are transported to the prison, they will have to be taken into the "Prison Processing Room". Here the player(s) will then begin their adventure within the ambitious prison system of Los Santos. In this room, the Prison Guards (LSDC) (or a Police Officer if no PG is online) will use the command /prison [ID]. /prison [ID] - This will start the "Time Left" counter and the player will begin to serve their sentence. What else happens once the player has been transported into the prison? 1) The player will then be put into an orange jumpsuit (or prison outfit), stripped from their civilian clothing. * Back-end wise, the clothing they had can be saved by a Boolean Array based on the int number stored on the character. * The outfit is in the "Heist" update and can be found in the "Prison Break" mission. 2) The player will then be teleported into the main prison block and given a cell number. They can either come in and go as they please or be subject to lock down if they get solitary by a Prison Guard. 3) The player sentence will begin once the command is activated. PRISON TIME: In contrast to the system put in place right now where players could log off and serve their time, this system assures that the IC punishment is carried out IC. This urges the players to interact within the prison with other prisoners, enhancing and enriching storylines, hence a more unique interactive experience. Allowing players to simply log off and serve their time OOC defeats the whole purpose of judicial law and order system that's in place in Los Santos and is highly unrealistic in my opinion. Simply put in development theory: if (player == online) {continue jail timer} else if (player != online) {stop jail timer} Once a player completes their sentence, they will spawn outside of the Prison parking lot with their inventory available for use and as well as clothes they were wearing when they first came into the prison. To add some aesthetics, a parking lot with a few benches, phone booth, plants, etc. would be nice to compliment the beautiful desert area of the prison... (Sarcasm). PRISON ARCHITECTURE & GATE MECHANICS: I'm aware that GTA V does not have a proper prison interior and there is not a possibility of mods due to RAGEMP limitations. That being said, I am suggesting a combination of custom interiors with existing ones for the interior of the prison itself. I believe it's possible to have a solid base prison built with a wide room to house the inmates; LSPD interiors can serve as the processing room & administrative offices. Gates Script In addition to the prison, to maximize security I believe a new mechanism with gates could be useful. If deems fit, I think it would also be great to implement the features not just to the prison, but to the rest of the server as well when needed. Gates can be added by PM and can be used by law officials & prison guards. Gates could be useful, more generally for maximum security for entering/exiting the prison. * How will it work? * To best utilize this, a good approach would be a script which can be attached to an object placed in the world. A gate, for example, would "slide" to its side when the command is used by those authorized. This can be achieved by activating the script through a command to move the Object's X-Y Position relevant to the desired position. * Commands and it's effects explained * /opengate (/og) - Opens the gate [ Moves it from its old X/Y (CLOSED) to a new X/Y (OPEN) ] /closegate (/cg) - Closes the gate [ Moves it from its new X/Y (OPEN) to its old X/Y (CLOSED) ] This can be used for cells as well, or a more traditional lock through door locks can be used. I'll leave this solely up to devs. (See below for more on cells) Design of the Prison: The location I'm suggesting is the original prison, Bolingbroke Penitentiary, which is located in Los Santos County. As stated, the LSPD has certain parts that can be used for administrative offices and processing areas. To achieve separation from a whole LSPD building model, areas can be blocked off to accommodate the prison's architectural plan. More on this below the image. I've drawn a simple image to better show how the layout would look: For interior ideas, there are MANY parts of Los Santos that are hidden and you have to discover to see them. The teleportation system can be utilized in this case to apply some interiors that are not available through vanilla interior IDs. Below I have added a video with all hidden locations which can be used as see fit. Cells & Cell Numbers A neat feature which could also be implemented is the option for guards to control the cells individually through a "Control Panel". Depending on the number of cells, the feature would be similar to how gates would work, only the command would control individual gates in the housing area. This would allow guards to seize control of the cells in case of any rioting/emergencies or just to put a silly individual in solitary. /opencell [#] (/oc) - Opens a specific cell number /closecell [#] (/cc) - Closes a specific cell number /opencell all (/oca) - Opens all the cells at once /closecell all (/cca) - Closes all the cells at once The controller would be located in the guard tower, or, guard control room, where only Prison Guards or authorized personnel would have access to lock/unlock. In order for the Control Panel to work, the guard would have to be inside the room within 2-4 meters of the panel. Los Santos Department of Corrections (LSDC) If you have a prison, you need employees, right? This will open up a whole new career field for players and add more variety to the life of GTAW. The proper term for the position would be "Correction Officer" or "CO" for the job title. The hierarchy is solely dependant on the server admins. A patch which is used in SP by the San Andreas State Prison Authority What does a correction officer need when watching over a bunch of mean, ruthless and most times completely harmless criminals? GUNS! No, I'm kidding. However, I do suggest the idea of "Riot Gear", which I can expand on with the help of everyone's comments. Though, COs would need some sort of protection and good looking uniform. For this, I suggest the outfits which are used by San Andreas State Prison Authority in single player mode. A baton with a taser and handcuffs I think would seem fit for such a job position. * Correction Officer Duty Commands * /coduty - The player starts/finishes guard duty and changes into their uniform (In the locker room) /coarmor - The player grabs/drops their Nightstick, Taser, Handcuffs & Armor (In the Armory) Below you can see some screenshots of the uniforms.
