  1. Hello old friend.

  2. As the Chief Justice. I can endorse this, and it's just more things people can see about the server that can influence their decisions.
  3. Absolutely amazing. Great addition that can be used in journalism, and anyone just generally curious.

    Realism vs Fun

Here is your first problem. Thinking that Realism and Fun are separate dichotomies to begin with, to even warrant a discussion. Everyone here is here for fun, no matter what they say otherwise. If they want realism, it's called life. And they're playing a game to be in a fantasy of the life they wish to have, or would like to portray. Simple as that.
  5. I tried to avoid this thread and just let wherever the wind blows to hopefully flesh this out to a respectable level, but it's only been degrading farther into something I cannot simply standby and not give a reply. As someone who has been here since 2018, working from my positions in this community including one of faction leadership of which I am (with the exception of I believe Roadtrain), one of the longest serving government faction leaders still currently active in this community I believe this gives me a rather unique faction leader perspective into events that transpire from above down to the rank-and-file membership of these factions. Let me just start out with saying, I'm extremely disappointed. This thread, extremely disappoints me, and not for the reason you may believe. I won't address the internal PD "realism," arguments because frankly they're tiring and every single person has a different version of what that even really means to the point it's not worth an argument. People will have opinions there, and they will fall where they may. Here is what disappoints me about this thread. It doesn't provide a single solution to what is the grievance. Really, it doesn't provide a single one. So it brings the question of what the purpose here really is. This thread, is a pity party plain and simple. Orchestrated as a group of dissatisfied individuals (rightly or wrongly), who are going to give a story most favorable to themselves for others to buy into. The Los Santos Police Department is one of the worst factions on this server. I believe the numerous general discussion threads, and private messages I receive from players across this community this is damn near indisputable and I for one won't defend it like it's not true as I never have. Now is this Roozles fault? No. It's been made that way over a long string of decisions over multiple administrations of this faction, and I have been one of the people on the forefront of attempting to change the culture (And still trying to change it.) That being said, there's a difference in how we go about it. Regardless of decisions made, if you truly care about the faction you would try to bring as much unity to the faction transition as you possibly can even if you hold private reservations. This is how governments have to handle transitions, for that same exact reason (US currently is an exception to the rule atm, but still.) Not a single reply from the original posts lend support to the new administration. Not a single reply from the original posts are encouraging to lower ranking members of the faction who simply want to enjoy their roleplay. Not a single reply from the original posts are here to stir confidence. The only thing this thread is here for, is to stir dissent. And this, is why I am most greatly disappointed. And if I were to go further, I would hope that if I ever did something like this in relation to my own faction towards LFM or Management in this manner, I would hope they would have the balls to remove me so fast and take away all my positions and @Notbond, @Nervous, @Sharvit can quote me on that and save it for future reference to show I'm not bullshitting. This is a time where we should be lending as much support to the LSPD as possible, in this transitionary period. Yet all that is being done, is an airing of dissent with absolutely nothing positive added to the conversation. If you want to fix/help the LSPD fix it's problems, be a part of the solution. Actually propose solutions that will get the faction to the state you wish to see it. Don't go through a mass pity party, gathering all your group of supporters, to then just disclose your grievances publicly simply for the sake of. @roozles, I say this with the greatest amount of respect to you as a person as I attempted and was working with you on improving this faction and have received praise from you for it, but if you seriously believe this was the correct way to handle this situation regardless of anything else, you deserved to be removed and honestly banned from gaining any faction leadership position in the future and anyone in high-ranking positions who followed deserve the same treatment. I am so disappointed, as I have defended quite a bit, but this is intolerable. And to those outside of faction just tuning in, simply ask this question. "Do you really think anyone willing to simply go about business in this manner, was truly the right choice for a leadership position of any kind?" My answer to that, and I'm willing for everyone to know it, is absolutely not. And that's all I have to say, as I will take further messages in my discord or TS if anyone wants more.

Everything you have said here, I have zero disagreement with. It's spot on. My messages weren't so much directed generally, but more so at specific criticism which I was focused on addressing. My comments of "peace," were completely only in response to the idea that somehow a third faction if one were to exist, would disrupt the peace between PD/SD. Only reason that portion came up.

I could go on and list things, but this isn't the thread for that. My only point to you @Tseard, is pointing out that you would be hard pressed to argue against someone else coming to do these jobs, and that they would bring "more harm," because it's completely unsubstantiated and the same exact arguments were used to prevent the creation of the faction you are helping to run, and I doubt you agree with those arguments either. That's all I'm trying to say, and I'll leave it at that.

But it's not worked on, nor have any attempts been made to fix it. It may not be under your jurisdiction of the faction to control it, but you would be hard pressed to make a legitimate argument against someone else coming to do this job, because it's not like the SD as a 2nd LEO has brought more peace on the server to begin with. And this isn't a shot towards the LSSD as a faction, or an argument against their existence or anything like that. I'm merely pointing to the objective fact that the SD has been involved in quite a lot of events on this server that have lead to some chaotic scenarios both IC and OOCly, some of which still ongoing due to the incidents a few days ago on the forums. So the argument of "Well just having us brings less harm," is just about as an effective as the LSPD saying that about the LSSD when it opened when that same line of argument was used against a 2nd LEO. I'm pretty sure you would have disagreed with that too, so please don't try and then make it towards someone else. Because the argument runs much deeper then simple three agencies.

If only PD and SD talked to each other and stopped being territorial about everything, maybe. But the simple answer is, PD and SD's DB's do not talk with each other, and would actively aim to be a territorial force for casefiles, then work together. Happened on LSRP. Happens here. idk what you're talking about at all that something else would bring harm, just saying.
  10. LSPD Rap. The images here are what is being referenced in the rap. Will always love this faction. ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/CEWud-AFuFD/ https://youtu.be/cvdFpwXp8FE
  11. Thanks fam. It happens to all of us, sometimes we all can miss changes and not keep up. Just a fact of life ? .
  12. Nervous doesn't/didn't write the laws on this server. Nervous isn't the one who is giving you a traffic ticket, or taking you to jail. Everyone follows the Penal Code. So for all intensive purposes, Nervous's opinion here doesn't really matter. If Nervous wants it like that, then he will actually have the Penal Code changed to reflect it. But as it's been the way it is for like a year, and it's what PD/SD have been enforcing, I doubt that it's happening. You don't need confirmation from staff that it's illegal to punch someone in the face. You simply read the Penal Code which is enforced IC. Period. I now know were the confusion is coming from. Let me make this perfectly clear as we are saying the same thing. The Penal Code specifies although with more legalese language, that you are to stop at a red light before proceeding. This can also be referred to as a form "yielding," as really the point is just to ensure no traffic is there before proceeding as you would not have the right of way. You do not need to actually wait for the light to change green from red to go through it, which is what Nervous is also saying here as he makes it clear that "Lights do not need to be followed," which is correct since we do not fully follow them as they were IRL. There is no conflict in what is being said, merely the interpretation is wrong from people it's told to. It's simple: 1.) If the light is red, stop and ensure nobody is there before proceeding. 2.) If the light is yellow going to green, treat it like green. 3.) If the light is green, you do not have to yield/stop. That's the rule.
  13. This is exactly how it's written in the Penal Code too, btw.
  14. I'm curious about the loss of assets portion here. How would you propose this be done, that can't be gotten out of by like a namechange or some OOC mean to ensure the stuff is given right back even if it was taken away?
  15. Hello! I'll try to keep this short to encourage discussion, so I'll just get right into it. For years when it comes to roleplay servers, there has been debates over how to really handle punishment when it came to committing crimes. Some servers had a really lenient system of punishments for offenses under the philosophy that although yes people do need to have some punishment, they didn't believe in them being long and thus you ran into instances of people going to jail for major crimes for only around like six hours or such before being back out on the street to continue doing whatever. Other servers were extremely strict, making punishments really long so that characters regardless if it was online or offline would have to have the character spend a good while in jail/prison before being released to make them accountable for their crimes. This philosophy has also extended to even things such as handling traffic violations, to whether to make certain crimes misdemeanors or felonies, etc. My question here is rather simple. What in your opinion, really makes people care about the punishments they can receive from the IC judicial system regardless of what that system is in terms of sentence length, punishments, classes of crimes, etc? Are people afraid of high fines and thus if you make like speeding maybe a high fine, it will discourage speeding on the server? Or do people not really care about fines for traffic offenses so no matter what it's set to, it won't make a dent in peoples behavior? Do making some crimes felonies instead of misdemeanors encourage people not to commit them? Or does it not matter because of the numerous ways they can just OOCly get around the punishments (PK's, Namechanges, etc). Or does no matter what system you adopt, people just simply won't care about crime punishments no matter what they're set to? I want to hear the communities opinion on this as I see a lot of topics on various problems of crimes, but although we have argued about fixes on the IC and OOC level, I have not seen discussion on what exactly discourages people from committing crimes in the first place on these servers if such a way exist at all? Or if discouraging crimes from being committed in general is something that's even truly desirable which if so, then what is desirable when it comes to crime on these servers? I want all that to be apart of this discussion, and truly just want to see where the opinions on this fall. Discuss!
