  1. Short description: Be able to access the /torso menu anywhere Detailed description: Having a bugged /torso is just that, a bug. You shouldn't have to drive all the way back to the clothing store just because you noticed your torso clipping out. You may also want to put on / remove gloves and using 2 /outfit slots just for that is not ideal. Commands to add: /torso Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? Quality of life, less of a hassle in some situations. Additional information: It's not a big problem, but it can definitely be annoying at times and it only makes sense
  2. Can't log in for the time being. How did the update go? Do we have a new island? What's the news?
  3. And remove the like limit. It's not a competition, I want to like everything.
  4. Yeah, most likely, but it's still an issue with both the script and all aspects related to realism so it still has to be fixed (even if it wasn't necessarily planned to behave this way).
  5. It's funny how this topic is against people roleplaying being exceptions while there's a topic in general discussions right now defeinding people roleplaying exceptions. Either way, I'd like to change my vote. I'm not supporting this idea. I want to start a taxi company in-game and if I am able to abuse the rules in order to protect myself and my drivers and also not have to deal with this ICly, I'm all for it. So please, make this against the rules! 😁
  6. OOC trolling doesn't happen in real life though. I support this.
  7. You don't have to 'call me out' or whatever you think you're doing. That is my opinion that I've built based on my own personal experiences with these characters. There's exceptions, definitely, but from what I've personally seen, the vast majority of people fit my description in one way or another, more or less. There's also this misunderstanding that I personally have an issue with this (which I don't) and that I'm personally targetting people (which I'm not). I'm not talking about your character but rather the vast majority of characters I've interacted with that fit this description. My understanding is limited. Your understanding is limited too. No one has an unlimited understanding. Yes, there's many reasons why someone might roleplay the way they do and again, I am not talking about those people. I am talking about the rest. Just because some are fine, it doesn't mean that all of them are and believing that is a very ignorant thing to do. And yes, it is unrealistic just like it is unrealistic for people to want to be poor. It's in our human nature to want stuff, to want money and assets. That's how people work, that's how society works. I'm yet to meet someone who says 'Oh, I work minimum wage because I really hate having money and living in this trailer with almost no food is my dream life'. There's plenty of such people in-game, however. If you think that's realistic, we might be in different realities. So let's put aside this kindergarten mentality of 'calling people out' and accept the fact that someone might have a different opinion, alright? 🙂 That's how adult discussions work, calling people names will only get you so far.
  8. That's not the problem at hand though. People aren't going to soup kitchens (or at least the two I've seen in my 3 years here). Very small percentage of people RPing homeless do. Thiis is not just about homeless people, though, but rather people refusing IC help in unrealistic ways due to OOC reasons, which in turn creates highly unrealistic scenarios (like young people in gang-infested areas not even trying to get out of there because they OOCly want to shoot each other and sell drugs - that's fine, up to a point). Many people refuse to live in shelters, but way more do. According to this study (page 10, first paragraph), 65% of homeless people in the US live in shelters. The other 35% don't necessarily refuse. In GTAW, though, that number would be significantly higher because people would indeed refuse due to OOC reasons (it wouldn't be kind of homelessness as they want to roleplay), which would make no sense from their characters' point of view. Homeless people don't usually want to be homeless. Lots of gangsters don't actually want to be gangsters. In-game, they do. OOCly (which is fine, that's how you create a character) but ICly too (which is not fine, since you're creating an unrealistic persona - your character's story should be guided by what happens on a daily basis, not by the person controlling every aspect of it). But I totally agree with your point regarding IC charity, that's the only way to combat it. Make people stop wanting to give stuff. That's an excellent idea! If you want to give someone a house and that someone starts making you feel like shit or asking for more, then it happens again and again, you'll stop trying. Awesome point.
  9. While I do understand your point and no, I am not here to personally fix anyone's characters (not OOCly, not ICly either), but I do believe it's unrealistic for someone in need to refuse help based on OOC reasoning. That's one side of it while, on the other hand, I also understand that people may just want to roleplay their characters being homeless (I've done that too). I'm not talking about the millionairies rouding around South LS in Cheetahs and throwing money at everyone, I'm mostly talking about community centers trying to help youngsters who live in gang-infested areas and having no success because those people don't actually roleplay a realistic character (a kid who's being forced to live the life would jump at the opportunity of either getting out or disconnecting for a bit - there's thousands of stories of kids getting out of that life through different ways people helped them) but here, they don't do that. It's unrealistic to say the least. I haven't ran such community center but I've followed a few that popped up and ended up disappearing for this same reason. That's like being shot and wanting your character to CK, having FD come over and refusing treatment just so you can CK because that's your OOC intention. It makes no sense. Most people would jump at the opportunity but, at the same time, GTAW offers too many opportunities. That's the paradox that I was putting up for discussion. This is not a suggestion, I'm not trying to fix this issue, I'm just curious what other people think. The issue, in my point of view, is that most (if not all) homeless characters are 'crusties', as you called them. They don't just exist, they're the only type of homeless person on GTAW. I've yet to see someone roleplay ending up homeless and coming back up again (through IC development, not by using their OOC money and a poor excuse when they get bored of RPing homeless). That's probably because most people who portray actual homeless characters are, paradoxically, experienced RPers. The more you play, the less you want.
  10. More customization and variety for characters, vehicles, items that you can carry and use (and are not weapons). I'd be fine with the same graphics and everything, just more customization.
  11. That's very true, but I'm not talking about those people. I've seen (and met) people who roleplay homeless and do it accurately (as far as I can tell) but I've also met people, many of them, who straight up refuse to take part in any sort of development because they've made a character in order to role-play as homeless and any step forward would mean the end of that. While I understand that stance, it's something someone said before - they value portrayal way more than development, while real life is exactly the other way around. While there's cases of homeless people being abused and such, I really doubt that if you went over to a homeless person and offered them money, they'd say 'no, thanks, I like starving and freezing to death' and leave. IC generosity is definitely an issue though. I know when I first started, I had around $30,000, a car and a rent-free place in my first two hours just because. That can definitely spoil everything. I'm not only talking about homeless people, but rather valuing portrayal in favor of development. Same applies to gang members, especially the young ones. If you were to start a community center in the hood, you'd definitely have people stop by for a drink, some food or to play some basketball or such. There's usually programs to help the youth keep on track with their studies and all and, lots of time, these programs yield some sort of results. I've never see anything of the sorts kicking off because people don't want their characters to develop. I'm, of course, speaking from my own experience but this is what I've encountered so far.
  12. I see this as an issue, but I want to know what other people believe. People choose to portray different types of characters - legal or illegal, rich or poor and the such. Lots of the characters on the server are victims, in one way or another, and living in not-so-great conditions (in a gang-infested area, homeless, financially struggling) but when the opportunity presents itself, they don't take advantage of it. What I'm talking about is different organizations like soup kitchens, community centers and NGOs (an idea that I want to implement). While in real life, an organization that creates jobs would be highly sought-after in communities of poor people, or a soup kitchen for homeless people, or a community center for people who live in the ghetto, all of them having the purpose of helping these people live better lives, there's a huge possibility of this not working on GTAW because of an OOC factor - people want their characters to be victims and OOCly influence their roleplay to keep them as such. The best way to explain this is through an example - John makes a new character, who he wants to be a homeless person living in the sewers, stealing food from grocery stores and living day-by-day. An NGO pops up in the area and attempts to help the homeless person get a job, rent a small place, buy food and such but John doesn't engage because this would make his character not homeless. This echoes into many different types of roleplay and is, after all, an unrealistic approach since any sane person would not only accept, but probably jump at the opportunity. Instead of evolving character development leading the story of the character, we have the OOC person doing it which is counterproductive and unnatural. I find this kind of interference to be negative but I want to know what people think about this.

    The Reality and You

I'd say that as long as what you're preaching is realistic and believable (as well as widely accepted and somewhat abstract) then it's fine. What I mean by this is that it's generally accepted that the buildings were built by a company and people, but saying it was built by "Skyscraper Corp LLC" is not okay. Saying that you're going horse riding and roleplaying that is fine, saying you're riding a one-of-a-kind one million dollar horse is not. There's also some lore-related aspects like the city being 3 miles wide. I'd say that that is true. We're using a mileage system in-game (for cars too), we're measuring speed in miles per hour, there's a certain amount of houses that can fit on a 3-mile street so yes, that's true. I think that you have to personally make the distinction and if someone disagrees, figure it out on the spot. I haven't encountered many situations of disagreeing on certain RP-ed aspects like the ones mentioned and the kind, however. After all, driving from the Airport to Vinewood and saying you're 40 kilometers away and you'll be there in 2 hours, including traffic while you're actually 4 miles and 3 minutes away is ridiculous. I don't think that photoshopping your character on a horse is a big deal, as long as, again, it's nothing too fancy and the image is somewhat realistic (not a paint-style crop on an artistic wallpaper).
  14. If it's just a teleport system then definitely no, that's not okay. Even putting aside all of the ways the system can be abused, this would just create precedent and we'll end up with TP-based airports and TP-based bus stations, also TP-based train stations. Let's just wait however long until the NPC trains / subways / planes are synced. Or maybe it's possible to have actual people drive the subway / metro?
  15. Just one thing - talk to FD, ask them to ask people they're transporting if they want actual medical treatment or if they want to just RP it. I, for one, would sometimes choose to go to the hospital (depending on the scene and my OOC mood). I wouldn't go there on my own and just make up an injury (physical or mental), that's boring.
  16. Oh, I get what you mean. It's true, but at the same time, that's not really G6's fault, nor is it fixable. People who live in poorer conditions generally do not use home security and there isn't really a way for G6 to fix this.
  17. I was actually thinking of doing that but really, no one would pay for it. As someone was saying, people are just going to become surgeons and treat their gun-shot wounds instead of goign to a hospital and paying.
  18. What do you mean by them being oriented towards the richer? They are charging something like $2,500 per month (real life month). Considering the costs of running that whole operation, the profits are almost 0. They're compromising money for roleplay, which is something I've always appreciated. I'm really interested why you think they're focused on the richer part of the community. I know that Executive Security charges WAY more. I once used their services and it cost approximately $20,000 for two hours, four guards or such. That's almost one whole year with Gruppe 6. Executive Security has amazing RP (and people), they're both targetting different aspects of security but G6 is still less asset-oriented than ES (not that wanting assets is a bad thing, it's normal as long as the RP is good). I've roleplayed with G6 at some point this summer in the administrative wing and, from my own experience, the faction does a great job portraying a security company. I haven't actually patrolled or anything, but I've seen what they're up to and got to talk to a lot of people. The problem I personally had (and this is feedback directed at @zaXer. and @Soup) was the lack of interesting RP - at least on my end, as a sales manager. Compromising almost all profit for affordable and realistic roleplay is good, but only up to a point. I was making almost no money. I did know this when signing up, but making money (thus progress) is an important part of character development. Otherwise it's just like going to the gym but, after a bunch of years you still look the same. I don't know what could've been done differently, but it definitely affected my initial motivation and it is what led me to quit. Maybe having some executive meetings, making decisions, strategies and such, expanding to some event security and being able to, I honestly don't know what but, do more? Cluelessly going to random businesses and asking if they want security and, if they do, get the team and leave, going to the next, and the next and so on is really no fun. Contacting people, half of who don't respond or are inactive, to get the monthly payment is, again, not cool. All for a few thousand bucks a week. What could be done, I'd say, is keep the low prices for the services you're currently offering but expand into a different direction. Either security or something else (have a medical division, I don't know - security companies do that or well, literally anything else) that also generates money, such that a financial stimulus is also existent. Otherwise, the roleplay won't be as interesting.
  19. I would much rather have it OOCly, on Discord, rather than pop up in my chat every now and then.
  20. As someone was suggesting, you'd be asked whether you want a license or not such that these incidents don't happen. Yeah, it's not a big deal but it is a useless one. Think about it this way - why do something we can just avoid doing? This driving test does not improve roleplay, does not aid character development, just gets in the way. The first thing someone does when they join is drive to get a driver's license (which is unrealistic already, you wouldn't be able to get a rental). Why do we get some intial money? We could work for that 5k or whatever, but we don't have to. Why is the newbie vehicle dealership near spawn? It could be anywhere in the city. Why do we get to choose the clothing and facial features in the menu and not have to drive there ourselves? It's all because they system should allow you to dive straight into roleplay without having to spend 5 minutes here, 5 there and so on to just set yourself up and this is something that people just forgot about. Yes, that's one reason why it is important, however the speed limit is a really, really, really small part of it. The rest is just pointless driving around with a huge possiblity of failing the test for a hundred different unknown reasons. No character uses the driving test as part of their character's development, I've never seen it. It's just an unnecessary chore you have to do when you create a new charcter. I'm all for doing it if something IC led to you having your license revoked, but not just because. Just remember that all people who speed around or drive unrealistically have went through this test. People who are driving normally and carefully are doing so because they want to be more realistic, not because the test told them to. It has nothing to do with the test, but the person. The test does nothing and helps no one. Just have a prompt asking whether your character needs a license or they don't (in case they're underage or whatever other reasons) and if you choose yes, have a very short summary of the rules printed in your chat or something. The driving test is just a very old concept that dates back to the very first RP server which was automatically passed from one to another (just like ads, factions and such, except that this one's useless).

  22. As far as I understood, there's an economy update coming that will implement bank accounts and credit cards, and such the 'what's on you is on you' rule will include money. Not sure but that's what I got from Nervous' post.
  23. Then we shouldn't roleplay robberies at all, because the majority of times, people aren't getting robber. Or extortion because you know, most businesses don't get extorted. Thing is, there's some niche roleplay and this is one type. Would I rob taxi drivers in real life if I were a criminal? If the system was the same as the one GTAW uses, of course I would. Wouldn't you. It's literally a person asking to be robbed. Cash on them, in the middle of nowhere, nobody knows they're there, doesn't know you and can't track you. If you're smart about it - aka not dumb about it (you don't tell them your real name, you don't use your personal phone), there's no way in hell you can be caught. If we're talking about the IC aspects of it then yes, it definitely has to be changed. Not through an OOC regulation, however. If a park is deemed unsafe, what do you do? Increase police presence, work on the park such that criminals stop hanging out there or just slap an OOC safe-zone to stop the crime? This is not an important thing and it can be fixed through IC means so we should do that. If you're character is stupid enough to drive in the middle of the desert with $5,000 on them, no weapon and nobody knowing they're there in the middle of the night then no, it's not the robber's fault. This is not people doing stunts (which requires OOC clarification), it's people being stupid about their characters and/or the IC government and companies doing nothing to protect them. If the RP is unrealistic or lacking in any way, it should be treated as such on a case by case basis. That's my POV.
  24. I was thinking of something lightweight too. We don't need a frickin power plant, just a charger or two in the city, maybe one in Paleto - added at a Gas Station.
