  4. "Interview with Democratic Candidate, Mayoral Elections: Danielle Bordeaux" Written by Holly Miller, August 27 With the upcoming mayoral elections looming on the horizon, with the voting period coming ever closer, Los Santos residents are eager to make informed decisions that will shape the future of the community. LSI has pursued our commitment to be known as a reliable source of accurate facts, and we strive to provide our readers and listeners with comprehensive coverage whilst upholding our prime goal; providing unbiased and accurate information to the citizens of Los Santos consistently. LSI has taken the initiative to provide a balanced perspective, and prepared a set of predetermined questions not shared with the candidates until the interview, to prevent any research or preparation. The interview articles are posted on the same day to further prevent one candidate from having time to prepare. Both candidates had the opportunity to expand as they deemed necessary to showcase the attributes they uphold to make them a suitable future Mayor. By posing the same set of questions, we aim to provide a level playing field for the people of Los Santos to assess each candidate and help to make an informed decision when voting for their next potential Mayor. LSI have also opted to refrain from the use of advertisements on articles covering the political campaigns of candidates. LSI had the pleasure of scheduling an interview with Democratic candidate Danielle Bordeaux, obtaining her insight into the election and focusing on her plans should she be the successful candidate. The interview took place in Ms. Bordeaux’s home as the LSI facility was not yet complete at the time of interview. HANK PRESTON & FREDERICK COLEMAN INTERVIEW: CLICK HERE Danielle Bordeaux Interview, Holly Miller 17/08/2023 - Private Residence Holly: Campaigns are beginning to take off, but away from the social media posts and posing for the camera, who are the people voting for, if they vote for you? Danielle: They're voting for someone who focuses on the person, rather than the problem. Someone who's spent their life working tirelessly to help those in need of medical attention, wisdom and compassion. They're voting for a lady who takes pleasure in both the simple and grand things in life. I'm just as happy walking up a trail on Mount Gordo, as I am enjoying a cocktail on a marquis. But more importantly, they're voting for someone honest. Let me say this now and for all to hear. I do NOT have all of the answers to this cities problems. I'm not omnipotent, nor am I any kind of god. I'm someone who believes if we want to make a difference, we need a hundred people with one percent of the answer to come together to form a solution. Not people who claim they know how to fix everything. I believe fundamentally that everyone's experience in this city is different. They come from different levels of wealth, or none at all. They come from highly educated backgrounds, or those struggling to apply themselves. The fact I have an MD, does not make me more important than a sixteen year old from Davis struggling to find their way in school. Rather it means I have a duty to help, a duty to find a way to help that sixteen year old find their potential. Holly: Do you feel that this sets you apart from the other Mayoral candidate, Mr. Preston? Or more generally ... what sets you apart from your competition? Danielle: Well, I haven't met Mr Preston personally so I won't comment on his conduct as a person. That would be judgmental and unfair, despite the issues we're clashing over. What I feel sets us apart is Hank's party has been in power for two years in this state. His campaign focuses on pushing what I like to call.. the steady as she goes approach. Nothing that'll rock the boat, some promises he would have no way to act upon like this tax rebate policy. His approach relies on the establishment and the State. Between you and I Holly, did you know that taxpayer money goes directly to the State Government, a portion of that is then given to the city government to operate. I don't know how Mr Preston intends on bringing about those tax rebates when he wouldn't have access to the tax records as Mayor. They talk of transparency, something I agree is absolutely vital. So why has it taken two years for the Sunshine act to even be brought about? Why wasn't the Freedom of Information act instead updated to fit this state's need? Holly: So in relation to this, what are you planning to target first, if elected? Danielle: Well the people want to see transparency, so we'll be opening a way for citizens to directly request information off the city government. Rather than wait for the Sunshine act. But my biggest concern and something I'd have direct impact over, is how we deal with Vespucci. Being tough on crime is important in this city, but there's multiple layers that make up why someone may feel compelled to turn to it. For area's like Davis, my approach is to help the social issues that face them. But with Vespucci? I see their motivation for crime being rooted in hateful ideology. We aren't blessed with endless police officers however, we need to be logical in how we approach crime. Which is why I think a neighborhood to neighborhood approach would be most successful. But what good will that do if there's not a reform made to our penal system? Currently people go to TTCF, do far less time then they should for serious offense then go right back to re-offending. It's nothing more than a vacation for them. I also believe our prison system is a breeding ground for more crime. Which is why TTCF doesn't cut it for me. We need to restore the bollingbroke facility and have that serve as a hard time prison for those with laundry lists of felonies. Particularly relating to harm brought against the person. TTCF should shift its focus on rehabilitating more minor crimes, offering educational programs, technical qualification degree's and more importantly therapy. Now let me be clear, TTCF and the LSSD are a State funded agency and take their directives from the State only. I would like to hope that the Republican party in office works with us to bring about these changes. Once we're able to put away the worst of the worst, we can adopt a social approach to helping those who are being lured into crime. Those who's hearts are not darkened by evil, those who just feel neglected, unappreciated and unsupported by our government. Holly: What qualities would you say, a Mayor should possess in order to be effective? Danielle: I think a Mayor should be someone who cares equally about the citizens they're elected to represent. Someone who takes the time to sit and hear their stories, hear their suggestions and actually represent the people. This is why I don't feel hosting speeches and rallies accomplish that. How can you hear what the people have to say when you're just speaking AT them, rather than listening. A Mayor should be entirely incorruptible and held to account at every step of the way. Now I'm aware some contradiction comes from the term of Marcus Cambridge. But under this state's constitution, a Mayor is supposed to hold a term of two years. He was put in that position as the prior Mayor was caught buying votes. I'm aware he wasn't elected, but he was there to do a job by rebuilding our government from the mess that Mayor Rockford left it in. Holly: How difficult was the decision to run for Mayor? What pushed you to do so, considering your current responsibilities as Medical Director, and Director of Pillbox Hill Medical Center? Danielle: It was a difficult decision to make, I'm aware with my posting I hold no prior experience within the political space. However I have experience with helping people, experience in being here and I've seen this city change and progress over three years. Holly: The announcement of your campaign states that you will combine your experience and dedication to build a brighter tomorrow. What does that brighter tomorrow look like in your vision? Danielle: A world where we don't live in fear of being robbed, where people aren't suffering under discriminatory policing policies, where folk don't get shot outside of gay bars for who they are. Where drug addicts are given help they need, not prison. As well as no more empty construction sites. Those spaces can be used for social housing, help get people truly off the streets. Holly: What do you believe is the current Governments /biggest/ failure, if there was one you feel has had the most impact on the City, and not positively? Danielle: As much as I admire him for taking a difficult job and giving it his best, we don't have a transparent city government, nor did most citizens get a chance to meet their mayor. Being what you could consider a politically independent mayor, he stayed clear of taking a side some social issues, or even hosting events like meet and greets. He did a good job running the department, bad job of showing people that. Holly: Would you consider the success of Pillbox to be your greatest achievement? Danielle: I do, we built a team up from an apartment in Vinewood, to a large clinic in Rockford and finally the Hospital itself. Three years of sweat and tears to get to this point, but we did it. Holly: Well this is the moment where I open the floor to you. If you have anything you would like to speak on, ensuring the public hear it from you directly, now is the time. Danielle: As my campaign focuses on being there and hearing the community directly. I will decline this opportunity. I want them to hear from me directly and in person, rather than through a proxy. Holly: Can the public expect any upcoming events with yourself for this exact purpose? Danielle: Of course. We'll be having a meet and greet at Out of Towners tomorrow at eight PM. The grand debate hosted by Big Tony's buffet will be on Sunday at eight. I'll be doing a barbecue for folks next week at Mirror Park. I'll be cooking but it'll be a chance for everyone to come along and enjoy some food and ask their questions. Otherwise, they can expect my visits at events and their communities. We will NOT be hosting any speeches however, I fundamentally disagree with them. Los Santos Insider would like to thank both sets of candidates for their time during the interview process. We hope that further insight into the candidate's plans and campaign targets help our readers and listeners to make a more informed decision when selecting their new Mayor come the open voting period. 5. This essentially. But admins can also ask us to set a temp interior. I never ever deny a breakin, just because there's no int. I just do what I can to make sure I can give the player some sort of RP experience.
  6. What I do, is set a temporary interior for immersion. If there was no interior and the inv is full, I will then decide based on the RP, what the player is getting. I am a PM admin, thus I have the power to change the interiors, most admins do not, rightfully so. They can ask a PM admin (there is normally one online). A blank interior should not /stop/ a break-in if something can be done. If it's on the market, I'll leave the interior there, if it's owned I'll wipe it back to blank. Stashing your stuff in a blank interior does not save your stuff, it means it's ALL available to the thieves based on the admin's discretion. Ask an admin if a temporary interior can be set. If not, likely there's just no PM admin around to help, try again a little later and let the admin speak to us to get one in place for your break-in. No-one is hurt doing this, and those abusing blank interiors should be actively "punished".
  7. You cannot buy a business and change the concept, you must buy the business for the concept it currently is. You can also not "buy any business" in this manner. Please keep this in mind.
  8. I guess I'll go ahead and lock/close this? I appreciate people refraining from derailing or hopping on the bandwagon just because. Essentially as said: If you think a mod is being bias, staff report them. Refer to the FB moderation rules, don't refer to mods on FB, we are ghosts in the wind minus the spook. Feel free to DM me if there's any concerns, or any FB mod. Here's a quick link to the Facebrowser Rules Suggestions for change are different, and those can be posed on the forum as normal if there's rules/regulations you want to see changed. The FB rules were amended fairly recently.
  9. I'll chip in since I have more information about the original post, considering I had to investigate what was deleted and why. The original post from the other player, was deleted due to the OOC comment on the post itself and the OOC conversation happening in the comments section. There was a whole (( * )) conversation happening. That is why it was removed, and I reached out to the player and notified them of this, of which they were understanding and re-posted purely IC. FB mods keep a log of who deleted what and why, for ease of communication and to ensure there is no bias deleting comments willy nilly because it's in their interest. Your post was deleted because you mentioned FB moderation, as per FB rules: We are there to keep things IC, we're not there to be referenced. We just keep it rolling. I hope that clarifies this specific incident you've mentioned! Other incidents, I mean follow the usual staff reporting process if you feel something has bias. As for all, it will be investigated :)
  10. SANFIRE Internship With ULSA Paves Way For Hopeful Interns Written & Photography by Holly Miller In an effort to prepare the next generation of SFM hopefuls for their future careers, SANFIRE has joined forces with ULSA to offer an exciting opportunity for attending students, interested in a future career with the agency. An internship program has been designed and offered through the University, offering aspiring members of the SFM family an all important step closer towards their chosen career path. The internship offers students a role within SFM as a Junior PR Intern, which promises interns valuable first-hand exposure into the daily workings of an SFM employee and life in the world of Public Relations, while building a strong set of essential skills for future development. Following the announcement of this exciting opportunity, we were able to secure an interview with SFM's own Senior Public Information Officer Riley Miller, as shown later in this article. But what are the benefits of an Internship with SANFIRE? As explained in the interview, an internship with the department offers more than skills for the resume. Practical Experience: This internship scheme with ULSA provides the interested student an opportunity to work alongside the rest of the SFM family, getting hands on experience in the daily activities that the agency has the scope to deal with. As a Junior PR Intern, students will work closely with the rest of the PR team, preparing press releases, handling media relations and and offering a first-hand perspective and official statements on SFM matters. This may include everything from educational and promotional material, to official statements and press releases. Industry Exposure & Fire Safety Understanding: As can be expected, an internship with SANFIRE will broaden a students knowledge into Fire hazards and safety. While the department actively investigate fires caused intentionally as part of crime, they are also responsible for the education and promotion of Fire Safety measures. Taking part in this as an intern will enable the student to begin to understand the intricacies of Fire Safety. Salary: Perhaps the most exciting part of the offered internship, is the salary offered by SANFIRE during the student's tenure with them. As a Junior PR Intern, students will earn $54,000 per twenty hour salary, which is a hugely impactful sum for any student. The benefits of an internship extend beyond the points listed above. Each internship is unique, and with SANFIRE a competitive salary and working in an ever-changing environment certainly adds unique flavour. Interview with SANFIRE LSI have been able to conduct an interview with Senior Public Information Officer Riley Miller, who built the framework for the program and will work closely with interns throughout their time with SANFIRE. The interview has been dissected, hoping to provide more insight into the internship for students reading this article. SANFIRE's goal is to prioritize developing the future generation of potential Marshalls and Civilian employees. With this internship, the hope is for students to join the SFM family after graduation, becoming full-time employees. SANFIRE also recognize the need for continuous improvement, and this internship program will enable the department to find ways of more efficient working practices thanks to the students involvements. An excellent step forward in harboring new education opportunities in future, agencies and businesses working closely with ULSA offer more opportunities to students so they may get relevant experience and build specific skills to give them a head start in their chosen career path. An attractive salary is guaranteed to be a huge motivator for students, allowing them to pay off university fees and general cost of living while still studying. It seems that SANFIRE intend for interns to get directly involved, so students can rest assured that there is plenty of opportunity for learning and development during this internship under the wings of the capable professionals they will learn from. SANFIRE offers a multitude of possibilities for students completing the program, with the internship acting very much as a gateway into a career into SANFIRE, not limited only to the PR department. Students will be able to join lectures held by the best of the best to gain insight into the other aspects of the agency. The internship is an exciting opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career within SANFIRE, with a world of opportunities opening up to interns once they have completed the full term of their internship. The internship is live, and students may apply via the ULSA portal. Comments Are: Enabled Name: Comment:
  11. Blue On Blue Crash Leaves Deputy Hospitalized Written & Photography by Holly Miller (Pictured Above: Overturned LSSD vehicle in the aftermath.) On the evening of July 3rd, LSI Stringers were in the vicinity of a horror crash between two agency vehicles, leaving one overturned with a deputy trapped inside. Fortunately, the LSPD officer seemed to be unharmed in the incident, and was already calling for support over the radio. Units from the Los Santos Fire Department were swiftly dispatched upon receiving the distress call, and arrived at the scene of the collision where immediate action was taken to secure the scene and identify the seriousness of the situation. (Pictured Above: First responders on scene, tending to the wounded deputy.) Following the efforts from the Fire Department, the deputy was subsequently freed from the wreckage, allowing medical professionals to begin treatment on scene whilst he was stabilized. During this process, two further Fire Department vehicles arrived on scene, with the street quickly becoming of interest for passing civilians. (Pictured Above: Further units arriving on scene.) As customary in collisions involving officers, members of the involved agencies Traffic Division were dispatched to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The objective; to gather first-hand evidence by investigating road positioning, gathering statements and inspecting the vehicles themselves, as well as any other contributing factors. At this time, the reason for the collision has not been confirmed to media. After arriving on scene, units took immediate action to block the lane, ensuring the safety of units on scene, conservation of possible evidence and public safety. Throughout the Traffic Officers investigation, LSI Stringers observed the interview of the involved member of the Los Santos Police Department. (Pictured Above: Involved Officer from the LSPD.) During the investigation, the Fire Department conducted the transport of the injured deputy to a local hospital, where he would receive further treatment. At this time, his condition is unknown, although the Los Santos Insider wishes him a speedy and complete recovery from the incident. (Pictured Above: Units working to stabilize the injured deputy.) This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks on the road, the threat not discriminating of any factor, even those especially trained. Full Gallery Comments Are: Enabled Name: Comment:
  12. I don't think putting this behind another report is fair, or efficient. If someone uses it to troll - report them. If someone starts a fight and it escalates, it is the responsibility of those that escalate it, not necessarily the initiating party. A brawl CAN stop at a brawl, you do not have to escalate it. A brawl does not mean your life is at risk every time, you can take an L if you were unprepared. Is it realistic to pull a gun in a crowded nightclub to defend yourself when someone has thrown a single punch? Not really, there's a bunch of security guards and nearby alcohol fuelled club-goers that'll happily get involved no doubt. Fights and brawls are so so common in clubs, even just drunk people being idiots. It's a great place to spot people easy to wind up for a laugh both IRL and in game, restricting the illegal community further for this is not the way forward. Running a business means you have to consider the bad, along with the good. It is not plain sailing. -1.
  13. An entry fee like this is IC. If it was something scripted I'd understand. I could put a $500 entry fee on my business too. That's my own business suicide, PM doesn't need to be involved.
  14. I like this, but for logo's and such on businesses I think 6 months was the asked for time period. We don't want to be adding silly amounts of requests for the modding team with the high turnover of businesses, so that'll need discussing. It depends how many areas we do have for advertisements as well. Otherwise this is a wicked idea honestly. There's areas all around where there is GTA branded advertising where we could replace them, not just billboards. If some time was spent on this I think it'll be more immersive and free advertising to deserving businesses. I have ideas on how to work the requests into this, but that'll need development insight as well as the modding team, but I can think of a couple ways to do it so PM are able to decide if the business is viable (probably work some automated perimeters for minimum length of time etc), let the player select an available "slot" to apply for from a list so they're not guessing, and let modding see a complete list of requests and players can upload their images. We could charge them on a monthly lease as well, so there is actually a conscious "funding" idea behind it so the player needs to consider that aspect. The billboards would be more expensive, but the other areas would be cheaper. That'd be sick for the mall system too. Nothing mad expensive so it locks out smaller businesses, just something to keep it realistic. It also means it'll be terminated automatically if the player/business is inactive so there is less groundwork there in going through each one. I'll forward this to the rest of PM and we'll add it to the list of discussions. Would love to see what people brainstorm here, keep it rolling!
  15. Welcome to the team .. we don't bite? Mostly ..
  16. Reckless Pursuit Ends At Gunpoint Written & Photography by Holly Miller (Pictured above: Pursuit drawn to a close with suspect at gunpoint.) As evening fell on June 26th, an intense pursuit unfolded throughout Davis and surrounding areas of the City, as black minivan attempted escape from pursuing LSPD units. The suspect, who's identity has not been confirmed, fled Police using dangerous tactics to evade capture, being seen going against the flow of traffic and nearly colliding with a parked LSI Stringer vehicle. Earlier during the pursuit, the suspect exited forum drive and collided head-on with a tree, causing significant damage to his vehicle. However, desperation proved powerful as the suspect kept the vehicle going as the chase continued, putting bystanders and innocent road users at considerable risk. (Pictured above: LSPD units secure the suspect.) The suspect's trail of chaos continued until the pursuit was abruptly terminated on Strawberry Avenue, with LSPD units surrounding the vehicle and quickly taking charge of the incident, holding the suspect at gunpoint in a tense standoff. The reasoning for the sudden termination of the pursuit was not witnessed by LSI Stringers, however another vehicle is pictured heavily damaged at the scene. LSPD units were unavailable to comment. (Pictured above: Heavily damaged vehicles at scene.) It remains unclear whether there were any serious injuries as a result of this harrowing pursuit, and the reasoning for the desperate attempt still remains unclear. However what is clear, is the lengths that individuals will go to to evade capture, putting lives on the line and adding further charges to their repertoire. We implore citizens to think before considering such evasive action, as often times this ends catastrophically, resulting in severe injuries and even death. FULL GALLERY
  17. I use it all the time, but only for roleplay affecting my character's development or that agreed with the other player(s). I won't script fight, so if it came to that I'd agree/disagree on the outcome with the other player. BOTH should agree to the roleplay method preferred. If that is rolling, script fighting or using best efforts and common sense, both parties need to agree. You cannot force the roll/flip on another player, just like you cannot force a /me on another player. Same rules apply. If they do, report them and politely ask that another method is used to determine the outcome. Removing a feature is never the answer.
  18. Joint Agency Warrant Executed in South Central Written & photography by Holly Miller (Pictured above: SANFIRE & LSPD units on scene for warrant execution) In the evening of June 26th, operatives from the Los Santos Police Department and SANFIRE convened together in South Central to execute a targeted warrant for both agencies, further to the investigation into the Grove Street fire on June 17th. Both authorities spared little effort in ensuring the safety of officers, with units arriving in force to secure the scene which took place in one of the most notorious areas of the City. Both agencies originally convened at the SANFIRE Headquarters in Rockford Hills for their briefing, before descending to the targeted property for execution. (Pictured above: Units enter and exit the building, outfitted in tactical gear.) The assigned units for the joint operation left little doubt on their understanding of the dangers that could face them, both in terms of the nature of the warrant but the area in which they would execute it. Geared up in tactical armour and many armed with automatic rifles, units ensured the safety of themselves and accompanying units. South Central is well known for heightened tensions with law enforcement agencies, and ever increasing levels of crime. Both agencies moved with coordination and purpose, converging on the property as many made swift entrances and exits during the investigation. In a display of effective teamwork, the building was cleared for SANFIRE investigators to move in to continue the investigation, pertaining to that of the aforementioned fire. (Pictured above: At least two civilians were escorted from the property, their involvement has not been confirmed.) While the specifics on the outcome of the warrant's execution has not been disclosed, units on scene displayed a relaxed demeanour, despite utilizing their tactical gear. LSI Stringer's noted an Ice-cream truck arriving nearby the scene, and members of both agencies eventually descended in a more casual approach to policing. (Pictured above: Units "take a break" and enjoy an ice-cream.) SANFIRE representative's provided a statement to LSI journalists following the warrant execution. FULL GALLERY
  19. Drunk Driver Causes Accident in Paleto Written & Photography by Holly Miller In the evening of June 25th, Los Santos Insider reported to a scene which brings home a stark reminder of the dangers associated with drink driving. On the quiet, North-Eastern side of the scenic Paleto Bay area, Sheriffs responded to a call of a vehicle crash with a driver later shown to be under the influence of alcohol, who miraculously escaped serious injury after falling asleep at the wheel. (Pictured above: Pick-up truck involved in the DUI traffic accident.) The incident took place on the quieter portion of the area and despite being on a highway, no other vehicles were involved in the accident. Nevertheless, the responding units were still left concerned about the potential consequences of such an incident. The driver, who remains unidentified, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no other injuries are reported. The Los Santos Sheriff's department's quick response ensured that the driver was given prompt assessment for injuries and the surrounding area clear of potential hazards to other passing drivers. After a short investigation, the driver was handed over to the Los Santos Fire Department, who transported them for further treatment and investigation. At the time of writing, the driver's condition was reportedly stable and not life-threatening. (Pictured above: Responding LSSD unit along with dispatched tow truck operators.) Units on scene were soon joined by a unit dispatched for towing duties. Once the vehicle was identified and the scene reviewed, the tow operators were quick to get their truck into position and proceed with the removal of the damaged vehicle. The truck was towed to the Paleto Bay Impound lot, pending further investigation. (Pictured above: Tow operators arriving and removing the vehicle.) Driving under the influence of a control-impairing substance see's an alarming number of incidents year by year, resulting not only in property damage, written off vehicles but also serious injury and unfortunate death. Driving under the influence severely jeopardizes not only the life of the driver, but passengers and those on the road around them. As seen in this case, those not on the road may also be at risk, on sidewalks and in ground-floor buildings. Alcohol severely impairs the drivers judgement, response time, coordination and builds a false sense of confidence, which often ends in tragedy. The incident in Paleto Bay highlights the continued need to educate drivers and bystanders further into the potential risks, with the aim to reduce the impact of the consequences of preventable incidents. Law enforcement agencies, notably the Los Santos Police department, work diligently to combat drink driving and raise awareness through a number of methods, including awareness campaigns but more frequently, their DUI checkpoints which many will be familiar with. (Photography Credit: Los Santos Police Department) In this incident, the swift response from the Sheriff's department ensured that further risk was minimized, but it was also clear that their role does not stop there. The deputy showed a commitment to the further support of the driver involved in the incident, hoping to aid them in their recovery from alcohol addiction. By offering that assistance and making resources available, our local law enforcement agencies continue to play a pivotal role in reducing the number of incidents we see stemming from driving under the influence and addressing the underly causes of alcohol and substance dependency. We implore our readers to stop, think and take a cab. Take responsibility for your actions and hold yourself accountable for alcohol consumption and driving. Designate a sober driver, hire a taxi or use the local public transport to get home safely. Los Santos Insider would love to hear from you on this topic if you have been affected.
