    House market

That is, frankly, horrible if that is the case. But yes, no matter your roleplay type, you're able to get a house as long as the character is suitable and you hit the minimum activity and administrative record requirements. If you earn your money via illegal means, we need to see evidence of the money laundering. We then just check in with IFM and make sure that in terms of position or rank, this all makes sense, money flowing through is realistic etc etc. IFM are such an invaluable tool for us, but we have several members of the team who roleplay in illegal factions too, so we are quite diverse in knowledge. For legal roleplayers, it's about the same. No director that's been in a faction for a month is getting some giant Richmond house just based on position. No artist with AI art making 15 items a month and selling them for 100k and claiming millions is getting one either. Equally, business activity is checked. If people want to justify millions, we expect to see that reflected in activity. For example, if you claim your bar makes 40k a day, we're looking at how long you owned it, and how often it opens. But equally, 40k script money is not 40k irl. That policy is LONG since gone I would assume, thank the lord. When I applied for a house two years ago it wasn't a thing, in fact since I joined PM so I think perhaps more needs to be done to try and keep the community up to date with what's changed. We try our best, the discord announcements mainly because that's the most central place for updates to come. We post in there all the time, new complexes, changes to apps, polls for changes etc :)

    House market

Hmm not sure, I don't recall that so must have been before my time in PM. We'd never refused someone a house because they're illegal, that's insane to me. If someone gets to that point in illegal RP to justify such a house, we should absolutely reward them.

Huh? Where on earth has this information come from? Illegal chars can own houses? Of COURSE they can? We get a HUGE amount of requests from illegal characters and most of our house requests that meet the minimum requirements are actually accepted. You can own more properties, an apartment, businesses etc. You cannot have 2 houses at the moment though because we have a limited amount. I think this is very understandable. We are cheap for houses, and you pay mortgages to make them affordable. Please please join the PM discord and read all of the documentation we have, because this is worryingly inaccurate and I don't want to see people posting mis-information.
  4. There is realism, and there's what we can do on the server both development related, but also not providing something that is OP. I think a radio station is unneeded, it was discussed and denied before and while I disagree with one or two of the reasons why, fundamentally I agree not going with that route. My full suggestion waaaas ... as I said, limited view of /911. Perhaps a chat alert to say "POLICE SCANNER: A new call can be heard over the scanner. Five seconds later - Location. Five seconds later - Description. Could make it so there is the delay in getting the information. I have no idea how accurate police scanners are, if there are frequency drops and so on, but 1:1 should not, imo, the /goal/, only the inspiration. It should only likely be roleplayed when in a vehicle with a scanner installed, and laws around it's use should be investigated for legal faction use. Idk much about them in that sense. TLDR; less is more, imo. Give us basic details, let us figure the rest out. For the sake of accountability, we could mark a stringer unit as responding, which shows for our internal stringers but also in the logs.
  5. Stringing can be hours of nothing, which is realistic IRL but in game it takes the fun out, so anything to simulate dispatch so we can RP that is dope. I had made a request before based on a limited /911 view which does not show name, number etc but only a location or something would be huge. No TAC, no TS, nothing more than a brief byte of info to get somewhere. If that's a radio channel for dispatch that can be roleplayed as a police scanner that would be cool, but I'd request it is ONLY given to specific ranks in a faction and not anyone. We don't need accountants hearing about dispatch calls. I am against getting too much info. Investigative journalism is fun and we can RP with units for details.

    House market

PM provides housing for reasonable prices, and gives you a mortgage option. I highly recommend that route and not the player market, especially for those not rich in script money. Script money is very easily gained but just because you have 1 mil, doesn't mean your character can and should afford a standalone house. We condition the properties so they're not sold (or hoarded) for ridiculous prices, and so players cannot take advantage of the market to get the maximum amount possible for their property. In their defence, the rules say they can, this is out of PM's hands sadly. We get reports on people selling houses for millions but there's no action we can take if they're selling in line with the rules. TLDR; apply through PM, but remember apartment life in LS isn't so bad, not every cop or business owner can or should have a house. This is the only "drawback" buying through PM, you will have to tell us why your char should have one of the most sought after property types on the server because you will have others applying for the house you are. House apps aren't that scary. Backstory, finances, why they want the property. Job done. Doesn't need to be a novel, short and sweet but hit the points we ask.
  7. Some guys brake-checked my character and tossed snowballs at her car. She got mad IC. I laughed OOC because it's a snowball. When I worked in a school I had to cross the courtyard carrying a Mac to repair. Guess who was the target for snowballs? Little 5'4 me with VERY expensive equipment. If they're TROLLING, i.e doing it in an extremely dumb manner whereby other rules or risks are being outright ignored in favour of throwing snowballs, and it is not just "annoying" IC, then report them. I'd have questions if a well known politician for example started tossing snowballs at passing vehicles, but I wouldn't have questions if residents of Davis lobbed them at cops. I would question if someone is getting pursued, then gets out and lobs snowballs at pursuers. I wouldn't have questions if some ULSA student lobbed them from the roof. It comes round once a year, I think we can handle a few trolls who take the piss.

  11. Murder of Officers Results in Mass response in Davis Written & Photography By Holly Miller 20/11/2023 (Pictured above: Suspect apprehended by LSPD units.) Crime and tragedy ripples through the community once again, as on the early hours of November 19th, units from local authorities responded to a distressing incident in Davis, whereby units within the area had utilized their "panic alarm" to call for immediate assistance. Units responded and upon arriving on the scene, they were met with a scene mirroring that of a nightmare. Four officers, currently unidentified, were found deceased on scene, leaving many asking "why"? Following those harrowing events, the LSPD conducted an investigation into the murders. During this time, a suspect was identified and on November 19th at roughly 20:50, merely hours later, units descended into the area and carried out a loud takeover, apprehending the suspect pictured above in a sea of blue. (Pictured above: Heavy law enforcement present during the arrest.) Moments leading up to the arrest, citizens of Davis were pictured by LSI Stringers simply enjoying life. Moments later, sirens echoed through the streets as the calm before the storm was shattered as the tense build up came to a sudden, very visible conclusion. LSI Stringers also noted an increased presence in LEO activity in the area leading up to the arrest. Whether this is crime suppression, raised tensions in response to the murders or preparation for the coming events is unknown. (Pictured above: Moments before the arrest.) The events that transpired on November 19th outline the challenges and risks that our law enforcement officers must endure each day. Any call has the potential for escalation, their lives on the line as they commit to helping the community. However, with limited information surrounding the deaths of the four officers, it is unclear if this was a targeted attack, or a result of heavy-handed policework. LSI contacted the LSPD for comment on the situation, however only limited information was provided at this time. Comments Are: Enabled Name: Comment:

  13. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of available apartments. Feel free to DM me the area you are looking in and I'll tell you what complex is free. Off the top of my head North Archer should have a few and Wisdahl and Emissary should too though I haven't checked those ones recently.
  14. Ooooh you mean purely the map for those. I genuinely have no idea for standalones, it is possible though that only MIs in DIM 0 show. We need something, honestly more so for newer players and I'm fed up with everyone buying two apartments just because they can. I will raise the question and see what's what although I think we already have a thread for this. I shall check.
  15. This is incorrect. No apartments are treated like houses. We used to have one or two "complexes" we had requests for but we scrapped it and instead we work with IFM to make sure local roleplayers are able to get properties in their respective areas, houses, apartments etc. Apartment's with lobbies fail to show up on the map, because the multi-interior script entrance is based in a DIM, and not within DIM 0. To combat this short term, I created several apartment complexes recently without any announcement and without a lobby to help normal players that just need a place for their character, to get somewhere. Hopefully in future the map issue could be fixed, but there are hundreds of apartments free, literally hundreds. Houses and businesses need to be locked for the reasons said in here. People know other people want them, so they buy, sit on them and flip them. We can punish flippers, but we can't catch them all and most of the time people genuinely will just complain, but not report them. We can't do anything without a report because we have 100 other things to manage. I'm not aware of a single "standalone" apartment that is gatekept. Please DM me any you think are and I can look into it. Sometimes it is a case of, they've been held for investigation or something and mistakenly not put back on the market, but we check this every couple of months and go on a releasing spree. Other times they get bugged out and get held by deleted characters, we clear these too.
  16. Let me "PM" this UP. Every situation is different - we adapt to each one. If you don't have the activity to hold a property full stop you won't be approved, there's other factors too. HOWEVER; Don't let your schedule prevent you going for a business. If you find business roleplay is interesting to you, as long as you and the business are active when you can be and it's not left for weeks or the script takes it, we aren't too punishing. The only thing we ask for is to open it when you can, and be present for the general running of the business. If you planned to open one Tuesday and suddenly couldn't make, we're fine with an employee going ahead with the opening. If that become a consistent thing where you weren't present at /any/, then we'd be taking a look. If you are consistent with it, I don't care if you open once a week for an hour. Businesses don't constantly need an IG presence to roleplay around them either, yes absolutely for the openings but you can make use of FB, forum PM "emails" and all sorts to get in contact with people to set things up for your schedule. While yes we still need you to have IG presence and open the place, you can "manage" the business outside of the game too. All of this to say, don't necessarily rule out a business. If you explain to us what you can do/commit, we are more than happy to work with you. It's when businesses get lost or not open for weeks that we tend to get involved. If you're unsure if you'd be approved for one for activity reasons - reach out to us and ask, we can advise on your specific circumstance!
  17. My personal opinion is that the issue isn't bad enough to take parking away from anyone else in favor for it. The DOT parking lot is often quite busy and used, at least whenever I'm around. You're encouraged to park downstairs, around the back and in my very unfortunate (for the character, I swear I'm a magnet for trouble), but frequent visits I've never seen more than one other car there. That doesn't mean there isn't an issue, I've just never noticed the lack of parking. Upstairs I park by the apartments or outside the front of the hospital and take the risk to just be told to move. There is the parking lot for the integrity hotel complex. I took a quick look IG because I didn't think it was scripted and I would have set it up but alas, it's already done. There is enough parking available in there for someone to park and walk over to the ED. One or two cars in the grand scheme isn't gonna fill that parking lot, and maaaany people just VP and log out. For something that won't occur everyday, I don't think it's THAT much of an issue and taking something away from someone else is never going to cut it. If the available parking doesn't fix it, I'd just keep it IC. Bitch and moan about the lack of parking ICly and just ... "deal" with it in game, I suppose.

    New Business

Not true, it depends on the concept. Trucking business - must come to PM. They are lease requests only. Something like a food truck, something to use the item scheme etc that's fine.
  19. This is something we see sadly, we've tried promoting unique businesses and so forth but at the end of the day, it's whatever the playerbase want. We've had changes made to scripts, for example the unique item script, the fast food scripts, the racing script, and even still we're going to see the same issues. Hopefully with time, we can continue to work with devs to create scripts that are enticing to use and encourage people to open these unique businesses because it's less of a chore, and just HOPE that players go to them. We've previously limited the amount of clubs, bars, casino's and all the generic business types to stop over-population and even still there are comments that there aren't enough businesses, but there's thousands. We just rely on the players wanting to make it happen, we'll help wherever we can but we need that "want" to come from the players during their RP.
  20. Just needs a player to "want" to do it, anyone can! Tailors exist, and I recall @Dies Irae creating my char a BUNCH of outfits to his dismay for her own private thing. Just find a prop, get creative with the idea, apply and boom!
  21. Horror Crash In Burton Leaves Multiple Injured Written & Photography by Holly Miller (Pictured Above: Suspect in Custody) The evening of August 16th found LSI Stringer's on back to back scenes in Burton, with one incident leaving multiple injured as a high-speed police chase ended in a chain reaction of vehicular crashes which brought the chase to a sudden and disastrous stop. Unit's of both agencies, LSPD and LSSD, were in pursuit of a suspect being charged with Felony evasion, motor vehicle contest and trespassing. The chase found both agencies in a wild goose chase across the City and County, before finally coming to a violent conclusion on Las Laguna's Avenue in Burton. In it's wake; a trail of chaos, property damage and injuries. Stringers on-scene witnessed the event unfold, with the suspect's vehicle being the first to crest the well known "death-trap" of the hill down Las Laguna's avenue. The vehicle had an impressive amount of air before colliding with a parked FD unit, attending a previous scene. Soon to follow, were a unit from LSPD, and a unit from LSSD. Both took the same high-speed approach to the crest as the suspect in their efforts to keep up, and both added to the carnage the previous vehicle left in it's path, creating a multi-vehicle pileup in the residential area. Other units took a slower approaching response and secured the scene. (Pictured Above: Vehicular carnage following multi-vehicle impact) Throughout the mayhem that had ensued following the vehicle crashes, units moved quickly to apprehend and detain the suspect, who miraculously sustained only minor injuries. The suspects identity has yet to be officially disclosed and it is not confirmed whether the vehicle used in the pursuit was stolen property. Medical personnel from LSFD were already on scene following a prior incident, and all injured parties were quickly assessed on scene for life-threatening injuries. Further information surrounding the status of all involved has not been disclosed to LSI at this time. (Pictured Above: Injury assessment of LSPD unit involved in the crash) The aftermath of the crash saw Las Lagunas Avenue alight with a mess of debris and shocked by-standers. The incident remains a stark reminder of the dangers of high-speed driving and pursuits through such a busy area of the City. It is incidents such as this that call into question; where is the balance between risk and reward for high-speed pursuits in residential areas, and what standards are officers held to for driving high-speed and contributing to such a disastrous incident? (Pictured Above: Units gathered for discussion) LSI Journalists were fortunate to be greeted on scene by Deputy Sheriff and Acting Sergeant Collins, who gave a brief statement on the incident: (Pictured Above: Apprehension of pursuit suspect) Have something to add?
