  1. Had the pleasure of roleplaying with you across three different communities. Top level stuff.
  2. LMAO. Yeah let's prohibit everything because some people are retarded. That worked great for other communities. I think we should add a special admin position "Head of VPN usage" and have them review VPN requests to see if that extremely rare and intricate technology makes sense to be used by Givonte, who is a gangbanger and thereby obviously incapable of even the most minuscule rational thinking
  3. I think this will either be the cool thing that everyone uses for about a week and then slowly fades into obscurity or the number 1 means of transportation of illegal/semi-illegal items which is kind of non-rp to begin with (UPS doesn't ship 99% illegal goods that's for sure). I don't believe that there is enough demand for niche items from shops that open rarely (like jewelry stores) and to be honest the only items that everyone wants always are illegal items (narcotics, weapons, bugs etc) and lockpicks/knives from pawnshops (everything else you can literally buy straight off the script). Creating a system that will allow the latter to be ordered from pawnshops to their homes will further decrease the already minuscule RP quality of pawnshops which are pretty much just stores with semi-illegal items in their inventory (lockpicks/switchblades) as opposed to stores where you can get cheap used items/antiques and make a quick buck by pawning/selling what you don't want. Maybe it would be a decent idea to integrate this into existing trucking companies as a beta test of sorts and if it ends up not being one of the aforementioned two cases then sure.
  4. Considering this: I don't think that we have too many Pawnshops whatsoever. Aren't there people CONSTANTLY whining about realism and portrayal? There are like 15 pawnshops (at least the ones that google maps decides to show) in Los Angeles alone (counties and outskirts aside).
  5. Why can't you use both examples? When you want to create immersion, use the former. When you want to advance a trivial situation faster, use the latter. If I'm trying to describe my character battling through a gunshot injury by crawling on the floor and bleeding his guts out on the floor, I won't use /me crawls to the couch /me gets on the couch /me bleeds on the couch. That just looks stupid. I'll take my time to describe my character's struggle as that would create the most immersion for myself and others. But then if I want to rp sipping my coffee, I'll just do /me sips his coffee as opposed to /me lifts the cup toward his lips, clamping them onto the rim of the cup, tilting the coffee mug............................. that's equally ridiculous.
  6. I mean, we're talking about the same people that go to/own strip clubs and put on Kanye West and Drake... You gotta remember that most of the people that play this game are not exactly... You know. Many of them are underage, many are indoor-cats and many have no idea what some things look like. Great examples from around the thread: "My character is a legal character and drugs are illegal" *50 cars parked outside of a club* "I go to a club to get drunk instead of pregaming" *afk /anim ravedance69* Most a good portion of people here have no idea what it's like to shoot or own a gun, drive an expensive car, be a cop, be in a gang etc. Through no fault of their own of course, it's just that the game enables you to experiment with those things without the real life consequences or life-changing decisions. Same for clubbing. They don't know what it's like to go to a club with an uber or a DD because you're expecting to be too wasted by the end of it to drive, they don't know what pregaming is or why people do it and they have no idea what music is appropriate to a strip club or a club (ok to be frank, when was the last time you saw a Hispanic-themed club in LS? we don't even have a good variety). Guides should definitely go up for those who are interested in portraying realistic characters.
  7. Interesting how the same people that vehemently protest unrealistic behavior and advocate for more realism in everything are actually supporting this. Either you keep everything IC and let the basic ruleset define everything or you set strict realism standards on everything. Choose. As it stands now, someone coming to extort you at your business isn't good enough reason to kill them. Someone beating you up isn't good enough reason to kill them either... (because "irl" it wouldn't happen that easily and if it does, it's rare). But Lil' Javier from Rancho can totally pick up the phone and act like he's about to buy a Sultan Classic, only to show up with a hit squad and rob you off $5k plus your CCW gun. (which I guess totally happens irl all the time and not in a few rare cases, huh?) Legit.
  8. I don't know why but when people say "truckers are poor, they work paycheck to paycheck, they can't afford a sports car" I just fucking sigh. I know three truckers in the US, ALL working locally (they don't even touch an interstate), one owns an M3 series bmw, the other one owns a fucking corvette and the other one just bought his own house at 25...
  9. Even assuming that this statistic is 100% accurate, which I imagine it is, this isn't an argument for whether people should or shouldn't pursue a firearms license in game. If we're talking percentages, then shit, GTA:W might as well be a different planet compared to the US. Close to 0% of GTA:W characters have any form of debt, whereas irl that's closer to 80%. On GTA:W EVERYONE owns a vehicle, whereas irl it's closer to 85%. Irl the population is split about 50/50 into males and females, but on GTA:W it's more like 90/10. You gotta have an actual argument as to WHY those guns are not a good idea. LS is crime infested. If you ask me, it's non-rp to not own a gun in this shithole.
  10. I don't think this is very accurate. Bullets travel nowhere near the speed of light. That just seems a little disconnected from reality to me. My good friends used to own Pita Heaven in Chicago. After the wife got robbed carrying ~5-10k in cash right outside the restaurant, she immediately enrolled into a gun safety course and applied for FOID and conceal carry license. According to THIS about 1/10 residents of Illinois own a firearms license (FOID). Why does a trucker that just got robbed acquiring a firearm seem unreasonable to you? Also what do you mean "having a firearm is more serious than you think"? Do you own one irl? It's literally a hobby for a huge amount of people. Irrelevant. Also there's this huge misconception that truckers are somehow lower class people when in reality they make bank almost anywhere in the world. I swear most people on GTA:W think civilians are mentally retarded. You can learn how to shoot a gun on stationary targets in an hour. You can learn how to dismantle a gun and put it back together in ~2 hours easily. You can learn tactical shooting in a week (not SWAT level, obviously, but hitting targets while moving is really NOT that difficult, even my 65 year old manager at work does tactical shooting courses). This just seems very disconnected from reality man... I don't think this came from actual first hand experience around firearms, firearm licensing and shooting.
  11. Owl was a fuckfest where everyone thought they were hardcore rpers whereas in reality they were borderline freeroamers. I rp'ed shooting a double leg on someone and the guy literally said /me walks to the side, dodging it. Then the admin sided with him even though I gave him plenty of material to prove that such an action was impossible. I have a billion other examples like that, that server was pure garbage, but I dont want to digress. What benefit does it bring to the server to remove the robbery limit? In my mind, all it does is create a shortcut for mediocre roleplayers to get rich quickly by staking out someone and robbing him. This in turn will lead to more administrative work as I'm sure people won't just surrender their money like that. But I fail to see even one positive. Why does it bother you if someone walks around with 50 million on him? Ever heard of "none of your business"? This is the perfect instance for it. Next thing you know you'll be complaining that the inventory size of 5kg is unrealistic because you can technically carry like 500 bullets on you. Then you'll complain that the insurance system is dumb cause you can just vp your car to fix it. I think it would be a great idea to focus on your own roleplay instead of attacking the server by saying "I'm stuck here so I have no choice but to heed to the insane restrictions.". None forced you to apply and none is forcing you to stay. There are a billion other places to go.
  12. If you're talking about owl gaming, that shit was everything but heavy text based rp. You should probably elaborate on the rule set of the server so we can see if it's a fair comparison. If the game had mandatory asset wipe upon CK, then it makes sense.
  13. So... you've never called customer service in your life only to find that they're not adequately trained,to which they always respond "let me talk to my supervisor"? OT: G6 is fine as it is. My only recommendation is to start upping the prices. Make yourselves an upper class service, not a basic commodity. Currently, I can rent you guys out for like what 10k/week? Not even. I'd up that to 50k/week if I were you and provide more consistent service (like 16 hour shifts for the guards or whatever model works for you). Maybe I'm wrong, just my 2 cents.
  14. As opposed to the impeccable rp on your end?
  15. Yes x2. You don't really have a choice. You can try getting security like g6 or your own guards, but then they'll just get arson permissions and burn your business for 14 days, you can say no and then they'll come over every time you open and cause trouble or you can try to fight them but then how exactly do you do that? If you kill them, it's dming. If you beat them up, they'll come back in 2 hours with x10 people, if you go to the cops they'll say call us when they start causing trouble (which will def get you cked for ratting). Extortion is a fucking cash grab honestly and I'm super surprised that IFM hasn't gotten in on it. Every random joe and their mother can make up a little illegal crew and start demanding money. If the owners refuse, it's a dm excuse, if they don't you get some nice cash every week or so. How I deal with it nowadays is I say "sorry boys the owner isn't around come back in an hour" or whatever. imho, they should either add an extortion monetary limit (like 10k/week), or they should add an extorted business limit per faction (like 2 businesses), or they should leave it as is but make it CKable if you extort the wrong people and they decide to hunt you down. Something needs to happen to get the wannabe Tony Montanas off their high horse.
  16. I don't know if that's possible (the chat mainly), but it is a great idea. Might actually be able to do it on ahk too.
  17. I think extortion either needs to get some admin attention and get locked behind some kind of chain rule, OR people should be allowed to CK extorters. It's incredibly silly for every single gang that pops up to want to extort a business. Practically every single business in LS is controlled by someone, even the ones in rich areas. I'm very sceptical of whether the percentage of extorted businesses is actually realistic or not.
  18. Have you finished the single player tutorial? Try downloading a fully completed save game and loading that into single player.
  19. Yup, that particular one that you're showing on the screenshot literally never despawns them. This should be addressed.
  20. Have you tried a complete uninstall of RAGE? Use a program like Revo Uninstaller to delete all instances of Rage. The javascript warnings that you're getting are perfectly normal, this is from my logs: [0926/123517.102:INFO:CONSOLE(1)] "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'scrollHeight' of undefined", source: rui://main/js/app.70c0578d.js (1) Try revo uninstaller on rage, then re-install it maybe even in a different location or different drive and give it another shot.
  21. So we're just talking about a badge that says "Official"? No IG bonuses? If that's the case, I think yearly badges would make more sense ("One year Faction", "Two years Faction" whatever). Saying that something is "official" is very misleading and a totally incorrect use of the term. But yeah I'm all for some kind of recognition for the long lasting ones, sure.
  22. The current system is really good. I don't like those "make GTA:W into LSRP V2" suggestions. I can speak from experience when I say that "official" factions and their monopoly on illegal goods ruined LS:RP and created MAD asset transferring for real money (we're talking thousands of dollars being exchanged monthly for guns). As it stands now, the faction scheme allows factions to operate at full capacity and prove themselves. If they are not up to standards and abuse/exploit their capabilities, they get removed. I'm game for additional incentives for factions that have been around for a long time and have provided unique and quality RP, but gatekeeping factions and forcing newbie factions to kiss OOC ass isn't something that I particularly fancy. If you want to add more incentives, add more weapon/drug supplier slots, cheaper prices for stuff, more property slots etc.
  23. Try re-installing both. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, sorry.
