Considering our roles as developers is a voluntary thing, I think it's a bit disingenuous to expect daily bug fixes - especially seeing as there's only select people who can push to live - there's also the testing (+ integration) which is arguably the hardest part.

It's not short sighted at all. Jail is jail, sure. But if you're, at present, stuck in a small dingy cell for 50+ hours (with server restarts) because you decided to play the game a certain way, then that is frustrating and detrimental to user experience.

YOU as the player should not be punished for choosing to play the server a certain way - your character should be punished for their actions. Punishing the player for choosing that path is how you get people to quit, and would lead to a very stale environment if pursued.
