Well, I don't believe neither the Democratic nor Republican party have ever pushed for a law just to represent the State of California or City of LA. Unless I am mistaken. Anything that is similar or replicates the IRL counterpart is likely to be just a politician who liked the idea and got it passed. My own law that was passed, called 'Shopkeeper's Privilege' is actually a law from the IRL counterpart, but the IC motivation behind it was to equip business owners with the ability to prevent shoplifting and giving them IC legal power to do so. ICly, my character thought it was a good idea, it got pushed, and we passed it. There was no OOC discussion regarding this law to be passed just to replicate IRL, however, and I hope that my response was thorough enough to really help understand. Now, you may have a point with other factions replicating the LA counterpart. I do not talk on behalf of that, just the State political level.

I don't think we ever really followed California law once. It's extremely important to divert from real state laws, because then, you'd start having people pull laws outta the blue and you would have zero political roleplay. The only roleplay you'd see is tons of laws being repealed. So, I don't believe your response has much basis for it. It's much better to allow the creativity and freedom in politics roleplay than to have to follow a real life counterpart. What happens when the IRL counterpart amends a law? Will we have to amend our laws too? Trying to replicate the State of California, especially with our current playerbase, does not make sense.

Truly love the greater San Andreas map. I’m already feeling that nostalgia. Might have to play some GTA SA single player. The only issue is that the map would be way too big IMO

Never played night city, I just want to comment for people who say not to take the crime rate IC. The only problem is that people do. So until there’s some way to take things IC, that would be ineffective and most people would take the murder rate IC and some others wouldnt.

The vast majority of the penal code is formulated by a team of legally knowledgeable people which is then looked over by IFM and probably a council of illegal players. However we have done individual amendments to the penal code. Keep in mind that as politicians, we have to keep in mind what will be favorable to our constituents. But that can also be overpowered if there’s strong push for an idea and a politician is essentially lobbied for it. This is all IC and I refer anyone to my first post that I made here. Bottom line: I think this can be handled IC. People who are just wearing masks all day long LIKELY have bigger roleplay portrayal issues than that.
