  1. What exactly is the problem with magdumping? You seem to be the only one bringing it up so you want to explain how this is an issue?
  2. Gov is essential but will only be good if frequently used. I’m not calling for the gov to find ways to interact with the public everyday but I would like to see a government not comprised of alt characters. I wanna have a Mayor who only RP’s as the mayor. Not just once a month but every time they log in. If government can be active? I don’t see a problem with them taking more and more of an important role on the server.
  3. Huh? yeah diving under water for 20 minutes at a time? Stupid. water Evasions? Totally realistic. Hell I swam across a lake in my clothes at night to evade police (house party) IRL. Idk why this is such a big issue.
  4. Very interested to see this "Interactive" crime map you mentioned in the manifesto.
  5. Incredible refreshing RP, You guys do not disappoint. Keep it!
  6. LMAO shooting at cops should be punishable? I’m sorry but WHAT. “Robbing people when having multiple thousands” the server’s economy is not 1:1 with real life. “Multiple thousands” is barely enough to get by. Additionally I know characters who have millions but RPing being poor as shit because it doesn’t make sense to have that much IC. Also how do you know there is no background? Do you have evidence? I’m all for enforcing higher standards but let’s not go around making issues bigger then they actually are.
  7. CK’s don’t just happen. Your either significant downplaying the RP that goes into it to prove your point or you don’t actually know what goes into the CK application. People don’t get CKed because they dissed someone, people get CKed because they decided to run their mouth in a situation they shouldn’t be running their mouth in. IE they didn’t RP fear. CK’s are normally pretty air tight and always approved by pretty high level staff members. Additionally, CK’s are supervised by an admin from start to finish. Any slip up and it’s voided. People aren’t running around “permakilling” anyone who disses them and anybody who does get CKed for dissing someone 100% deserves it because there is no way that shit flies without admin approval first.
  8. Once you've RPed long enough you start to see why CK's are important. Yeah, said character is dead to you but not to anyone else. They'll just keep going like nothing happened and it completely undermines all RP. CK's aren't handed out wholesale, The process for CKing any character requires a lot of effort especially if you have to apply for kill rights. At the end of the day, If you make a decision that results in you being CKed, Its not for any old reason. You fucked up and You have to deal with the consequences. Another players RP shouldn't be undermined because a player doesn't want to face the consequences of their actions.
  9. Definitely needs to be addressed. I've PKed players before and had them show up later and in my RP and it leads to an awkward situation for all parties. Lets look at the character Cam Vance (I don't know your forum name, apologies). Cam and Aaron got in an argument, Cam hit Aaron with his car, Aaron tracked him down and PKed him. Neither of us exist in each others worlds, but here's where the problem starts. Now Cam Vance is closely associated to a character I frequently do business with, OOCly I know whats going on and although I would never do business with Cam for IC reason's, I also can't address this conflict with the third party because Cam is dead in my world. My suggestion? PK = Spur of the moment attacks or attacks where you can not confirm the death of the victim. CK = Attacks that have been planned out and carried out properly where the death of the victim can be confirmed. Or killings that are approved by staff using the normal CK application. Here's some example: PK: Rolling 60's insulted JTM, JTM decides to execute a drive by on Chamberlain hills, Although they kill multiple characters, They can't confirm that they are dead. CK: The Conti Crew discovers one of their associates are going to flip. They find the associate and kidnap him, Executing him and disposing of the body and evidence properly. Confirming that he is dead. Not the perfect rules but I think it leaves room for people to figure a bit of it out themselves.
  10. All that weapon flipping was because of PF license. Everybody and their mother had either a PF license on their main or an Alt who does. So you got all these people selling 1 pistol a month for an incredible mark up. Now I tried to get this across in my first post but I’ll reiterate: If your character wouldn’t be in close relationship to a supplier OR your RP is not up to that suppliers standards, You most likely will not be sold guns by that supplier. Suppliers are not street level dealers. Suppliers are supposed to be selling to the dudes who are selling to the dudes who are selling to the street dealers. The price will vary depending how far down that rung you are from the supplier. Hell some of you need to figure out if your actually buying a supplier weapon or if it’s a PF weapon because from what I’m seeing a lot of you are getting swindle by people who say they got the “hook up” but in reality are just trying to make a sale. This server seems perfectly fine when it comes to firearms. I think what it needs is more melee weapons in circulation. the first week I was on the server me and my buddy couldn’t find any guns. We ended up getting in an altercation with some Russian dude and stabbed him to death with our knives. since then I’ve been involved in shoot outs with AK’s, sniper rifles and helicopters swarming above. I’d take stabbing someone on the server over those encounters any day. Now. The point of this thread was to give ideas to “save” illegal RP so here’s my actual suggestion: Let @Knoxville do his job. From my experience he has been nothing but fair, informative and helpful. I’m sure that with The prison and new evidence updates it will provide more then enough tools to make illegal RP interesting again.
  11. What a story! Big +1, so much detail.
  12. Prices on weapons and drugs? That's supply and demand. If your buying a one off pistol or shotgun yeah I'm going to charger you a significant tax on a weapon. You RP with me and my faction? Your probably gonna get a better deal. However a lot of people just want the guns and to go so there for they get the tax. As more weapons enter the server and when people stop losing them as frequently then you will see prices go down. Chopping cars should be significantly more rewarding. Right now you make shit money doing it and while I understand this is an RP server and we should be choosing RP over $$ but its hard to convince someone to do something that is all Risk no reward. Overall we're seeing a changing of the guard for Illegal RP. You can't have a good faction without a good leader and it takes a special kind of psychopath to not only want to lead a faction but to do it successfully. For a really long time organized crime had a very solid leadership OOCly, guys who have been RPing for almost a decade and came from the same places as many of the San Andreas factions mentioned previously in this thread. Overtime, the next class of faction leaders will emerge and take their place. I can also say that Prison will change everything, between what I've heard from the Sheriff department and what I've heard from the Illegal faction leadership Prison is going to turn this server on its head. "The server is a roleplay server - not a simulator. Our ultimate goal is to provide a fun environment for everyone in the setting, even if in doing so it "evens the playing field" when it is not typical to do so. For instance, if an inmate is hiding an item somewhere and says you wouldn't find it, it is often better to leave it until a circumstance would essentially result in finding that item. An example - if an inmate is being searched after exiting the canteen and roleplays hiding a weapon in an area you wouldn't typically search, do not force the result of it being found. It is better to roleplay failure than force success. Follow this philosophy. Our positions are not to police the server, but to provide quality police roleplay." - @Bospy I think @Bospy's philosophy I posted above will "Save" Illegal RP. If staff follows through with half the shit they've said they were doing with this addition we'll still be in a better position as a server.
  13. It should be the same as in real life. Ultimately if you can't pay the fine, you gotta do the time.
  14. A must read guide. Especially with prison inbound.
  15. For the most part it’s the way PD speaks to people actually. My characters a member of a skinhead gang right? He’s covered from head to toe in tattoos and towers over most of the cops in size. That’s a pretty intimidating sight. Yet I’ve encountered many PD who are always attempting to get the last word. Making comments more for the lol’s then for actual IC reason. Last night I got in a verbal altercation with a black officer, the night before his character witnessed an associate of mine gun down a police officer and flee on foot. that officer decided to antagonize my character going as far as to yell out his name to my character and encouraging him to do something to him. If this was a one off occurrence? I’d take that name and track his character down and if I could I would CK him. It would probably take me awhile but it would be some fun rp. The issue is, it’s common trait in the LSPD. Instead of actively trying to be nice and smooth things over with the public, members of the LSPD try to get the last laugh or drop in a zinger or two. The type of behavior that fun fact doesn’t slide as often as you think in the real world. Why did I suggest screenshots? Because it’ll showcase what we don’t see IG. These “trials and tribulations” that LSPD goes through. I’m not asking for perfect screens or some photoshop masterpiece, Hell use LSRP+ If you want, it cuts the time in half. Just provide something on a regular basis that shows the rest of the server that your not just playing robocops.
  16. It depends on the situation. A /me should be required regardless to start attacking someone but depending on the situation /me fighting doesn’t get the job done. Mostly due to 3 reasons. 1. People don’t like to accept that they should lose the fight. Sometimes we’re put in positions where we can’t win. We have to accept that. If a 18 year old, 120 pound British girl is getting attacked by a 275 pound biker it doesn’t matter how hard she fights, she isn’t winning. But instead of accepting they lost and actually RPing it they go straight to /b, /me and /do to create an RP wall around their character, they dispute every emote you make and turn a 5 minute beating to a 30 minute ordeal. 2. People don’t like to RP the effects of a fight. The sad truth is, if I curb a player outside the convenience store and I don’t do script damage; some people won’t RP it, they’ll wait till you leave then pop up and head on their way. They might RP an injury like a black eye but many times I’ve seen players I gave a /me beat down walking around like nothing happened later the same day. 3. The scripted damage system along with the respawn mechanic punishes players who make the mistake of getting killed, losing your inventory and your memory of an event is a real danger when you downed by the damage script. Do you hold on and hope someone finds you or do you accept your fate? Script fighting is aids at times but it’s more fluid the /me’s as long as your not being an idiot and turboing around it should be perfectly with in the rules to start an attack with /me’s but finish it with the actual mechanic.
  17. I have a suggestion for PD. The issue that PD RP unprofessionally has been raised by many illegal RPer's, PD players have responded by saying that PD are just RPing the true mental strain of being an officer and their mindset. To the illegal RP snob, screenshots are everything. Your thread should be a god damn work of art. That being said I think PD really encouraging its members to post more screenshots in either individual character threads, department threads or the main PD thread would show us illegal RPers what goes on behind the scenes a little more and make us actually appreciate your characters stories. Its been said the LSPD has over a 100 members. Comparatively most factions have 4-15 members. I'm sure out of that 100 you can find more then enough Screenshotters to really flesh out the LSPD.
  18. Been watching your progress, I'm nothing but impressed. Carry the torch and make us proud.
