Once again, the riots in front of city hall didn't start and weren't started because of George Floyd's death, they were a continuation from the riots in Davis which were caused by the SD's comments. YES people mentioned the name, YES people also mentioned the name of their IC buddies who had been killed by police, but NO the riots weren't started over the death of George Floyd. Quick ninja edit: I DO AGREE that the mention of George Floyd is a little jarring don't get me twisted and I'd rather people use actual IC events when possible but it's no where near a make or break situation as some people are wanting to make out. np Posted July 5, 2020 Share Posted July 5, 2020 The fact that some sort of situation went down where protest RP became a thing is incredible. I’m glad more avenues of roleplay are being explored. That being said, IRL events like the murder of George Floyd and the murder of Breonna Taylor should be kept out of the mouths of players in game. It can turn a completely IC situation into an OOC altercation very quickly. Link to comment

Yeah those yeah. The people shot on Covenant were not unarmed. Maybe there was someone struck in crossfire not included in the footage I reviewed, but the two people shot (including Jamal) during the catalyst event were swinging hammers at the SD/PD. I want to clear this up OOC. I even could see officers with guns drawn dodging punches to avoid shooting an unarmed suspect. Link to comment
jcat Posted July 5, 2020 Share Posted July 5, 2020 Anyway, it seemed like a Purge to me, and what it purged was boredom. People who constantly say nigga got upset over somebody saying nigga. People who wanted to be violent got an excuse to be violent, not that they need one. People who wanted to rob and loot got to rob and loot. Random people who had nothing to do with the incident going there to beat, rob and loot isn't that unbelievable. I know rich university students smashed and looted a main shopping boulevard one year, and they blamed it on the homeless, but cctv showed it was students. So, rich people coming to get into on the action isn't particularly immersion breaking for me. People who wanted to scream racist things got to scream racist things louder than usual. People who wanted to scream anti-gay things got to scream them louder than usual. Way too much real life garbage got brought IC. It was like listening to OOC conversations. Cops and FD got to do their thing. It was pretty much people who like violent and crime rp doing what they like with a bit more glee than usual, just people taking the opportunity to do action/crime. A lot of characters got the chance to show who they really are. It was a big joke, all fun and games, the "protestors" were taking the piss. I thought it might be cool, but expectations lead to disappointments. Thanks admins for getting rid of the rulebreakers. Keeping the protests on the IC topic would've improved the rp a lot. Characters talking about real life really ruined the immersion of the rp, since they would have no knowledge of it. Characters yelling about anti-gay, or anti-whatever-race that had nothing to do with the cause of the riot made it plain it was all just a joke/purge and not an immersive rp event. It will all be reset like nothing happened in a couple of days. It would be cool if there were long term changes, like FD refusing to enter Davis without police escort, community reconciliation rp, stuff like that. Link to comment
