Player Reports Section

From what I've read so far the suggestions are as follows

  • Have a mandatory 1-3 forum reports being handled by each admin monthly.
  • Harsher punishments for repeat offenders; mainly for repeat offenders but harsher across the board.
  • Onus also being put on us as community members; try and use shadowplay, return to a "no snowflake approach" where petty stuff is overlooked but actual genuine rule breaking isnt. (Petty stuff like these OOC beefs over Facebrowser or someone calling you a dick in /b after killing them)
  • Toxicity; general toxicity towards one another but also towards staff members. We're all humans at the end of the day.
  • Enable support staff to support admins with reports; perhaps allow them to bring up logs or handle minor reports?
  • Split the report section; add a section for where you have a clear cut video of the rulebreaking as opposed to logs needing to be checked.

All of this, plus some kind of focus or priority put on answering older reports first.

Sums it up really well. Adding in:

  • Enforcement of rules on reports. If it looks more than a couple paragraphs, close it. Instruct them to file a new one. Keep it simple. If there are arguments going on, close it. Issue forum warnings. Have them file a new report.
  • I don't think anyone should report without chat logs at the bare minimum. We still have a chat log parser right? Screen shots are a better option and obviously recording would be best for those that can record. Any reports without one of these three should be closed at admin discretion. Chat logs are easy, screen shots are easy. There should be some evidence provided if you're going to report someone.

I really appreciate the feedback here guys. There's a ton of good things that the forum moderation team can follow. @kilerbite should take a look, there is a great tldr by OP in the first post. 🙂

If you guys have any more recommendations/changes that could work - pros/cons to them, keep giving them out!

Head of moderation picking up easy reports once in a while but then taking another two weeks to give simple reply of okay, scene is voided or X will be ajailed.

Maybe the first change we need is to have someone who is dedicated to head of forum moderation role and motivates the other forum mods. As they say, we learn from the leader?

You are right, leading by example is always something that should be done by the head of the sub team. However, perhaps not removing them before trying to figure out what will benefit them, how the team can help them out, etc. Try to get everyone on the same page because the forums can be daunting. Seeing 5 pages of forum reports and understanding that it's mainly your responsibility to get those out the door and having to delegate to other admins who may have another crap ton on their plate?

It's a bit OOF.

Communication needs to be a thing within the staff team. Honesty and transparency. "How many forum reports can you do in a month" versus "How many forum reports are you willing to do in a month." is something staff management needs to ask our admins. If they are not wanting to pick up forum reports on their own and they HAVE to assign them? That's not a good way to start a relationship between staff members.

There is a staff application - people should know what they are applying for instead of just getting the green name and some powers IMO. Perhaps putting a disclaimer at the bottom: "You are expected to have X and Y amount of stuff done monthly" would be better? Who knows, I certainly don't, and I don't envy staff management as they are often seen as the bad guys in both player's and regular staff members eyes. And that's a horrible thing. They shouldn't have that image.

Definitely there's work to be done and some kinks out on the forums for sure. If we solve the forum issue, perhaps in game reports would go down a bit as players would understand that admins would pick up and get the report done on the forums.

When exactly did this become a teaching server? The attitude was always that you should know how to rp before coming here. Hence the "heavy rp".

The whole idea of being here is that there is a higher standard, that's enforced by punishments and admin intervention. If that is not longer the case perhaps the way the server is presented needs to change.

If this is to be a high quality rp focussed server, then that needs to be enforced. I understand staff do a lot more than take reports, and they put in place a lot for the server, but none of that matters if people are blatantly rulebreaking because there isn't much point reporting them.

We all appreciate what staff do, but reports shouldn't be an afterthought, that's where the standard is set. If you don't want to take reports, either ig or on forums maybe being an admin isn't the right move for you. Imagine walking in to order a burger and you don't get served, but there are 50 people standing there making milkshakes. That makes it frustrating. There are a lot of staff, enough that there shouldn't be 9 pages of reports. There is usually enough staff in game that there shouldn't be so many forum reports. And when you wait for an hour with multiple staff ig not answering reports, it's frustrating. Reports are a core function of the staff team. Again, if you don't want to deal with them, maybe you shouldn't be staff. At least that way the community has a realistic view of how many people are handling the work.

I get a lack of evidence is frustrating but plenty of reports sit for MONTHS with evidence attached. This feels like a bit of a cop out. I get that people bitch about how a report is handled, but they are going to bitch even more when it's the same outcome, but a month later.
