  1. You know what’s funny. I met half the people I know fishing off the Del Perro pier when there was nothing else to do 😂 As stupid as that sounds. People used to gather outside to do stuff together in much larger numbers and it gave people a place to go. It’s been declining steadily ever since then and obviously getting rid of pier fishing wasn’t the reason, but just reiterating my experience. 2018/2019 was peak GTAW. Before Covid honestly. Once the surge of people came in during Covid? Quality went downhill and it became a quantity hunt. People were let in when they shouldn’t have been. Rules were relaxed. It became about getting more people in. It became a teaching server rather than a strict heavy RP server. People used to be told to go practice on another server before coming here. Hell they even bribed people with cats to just log in to break the server record. It artificially increased expectations and over time the issues have just become so much of a problem that players are now leaving because of them. It’s sad because I want GTAW to succeed so much. Changes would have to be drastic to shift the direction.
  2. Make it so when you delete it, it deletes it for both parties (kind of like discord / telegram). Helpful when you want to keep your FB but change to a new character I’d you paid for one of the packages.
  3. Yep I think that would be best. If you’re going to report something, there has to be some evidence behind it. It’ll help cut down in petty reports too where they have no evidence. I don’t think anyone should have an issue at least using the chat log tool so admins don’t have to go searching for them. Screenshots shouldn’t be an issue either honestly. This saves times and sets the expectation that there has to be something provided by the reporting party to back up their claims. It should be a requirement, not a request.
  4. @Wuhtah Yep, agreed with the above. If there are multiple people being reported, it's more than likely a bunch of people involved in one or two groups. Appoint a spokesperson to speak for each group (if at all possible) so you don't have 8 witnesses all bickering back and forth. Other than that, I would specify the importance of providing evidence. Even though it's common sense, people need to be able to back up what they are reporting. I don't think anyone should have an issue taking screen shots or providing chat logs via the log tool. Not everyone can record, but there should be something provided rather than "check the logs Admins".
  5. People already check out even with shorter jail times. The jail time isn't the right angle to approach this. There has to be a more finite ending. 30 points with the ability for points to expire just creates a world where people get away with far too much for far too long. Three strikes is a bit too harsh, but 30 points with time-based expiration is far too long in my opinion. People shouldn't have rap sheets a mile long, it creates carelessness or lack of motivation to not be so careless.
  6. Apply to be an Admin next time and show them how it’s done champ. Easy to criticize from the other side of the fence.
  7. Why do you need to calculate KM/H though? If the IC law says 60 mph and your speedometer says 60, what’s to calculate? It’s pretty straight forward. The only system prioritized in conversation should be what’s used in the US/where we are RP’ing.
  8. If they can limit the plug-in to a specific section it would make it much easier sure. Depends on if those plug-ins have a permission system or if they apply to the entire site. I would imagine if one of these plug-ins worked, they’d have already used it by now. Last I checked, they haven’t.
  9. Agree to disagree. My past experience with this and dealing with people in that same position, no one bothers with a word counter. Quantifying a "small paragraph" is easy. People are expected to have a basic understand of grammar coming here. If you can't understand "a small paragraph", then as you said why should an Admin even bother reading it?
  10. Disagree. It's called Admin discretion. "But but this report had three words more and you didn't close it!! Why did you close mine!!" leading to an inevitable staff report. This can happen when you specify a word count too, so I don't see the point you're trying to make here. You specify a 350 word count and its 353, someone could come in and pull that same excuse. Specifying a small paragraph is easier to quantify and then an Admin doesn't have to bother with a word counter either.
  11. Hi. Past moderator from a free to play community of well over several thousand players. There almost 10 years before hanging it up. 👋 Specifying a word count is far too specific and people will not sit there and count their words or characters. Believe me, we tried and its useless. Best option is to stick to a direct format and simple rules such as: Reports may only be 2 short paragraphs (3-4 sentences / paragraph). Anything more, the report will be closed and original poster asked to re-submit. The two paragraphs should cover: Who are you reporting - Forum Name and/or In-game name Why are you reporting them - A few sentences on what rules were broken (Specify rule numbers) Evidence - Please provide attached logs, screen shots or video links. Understand that reports without evidence may not produce the desired outcome for the reporting party and may take longer if an Admin deems it necessary to check logs for the validity of report. DISCLAIMER: Do not provide the entire story surrounding the rule breaks, only what's necessary for the Admin to understand the situation. They will determine if further information is needed after picking up the report. WARNING: OP, reported party and witnesses may post ONCE. Any responses may be 1 paragraph or less (3-4 sentences / paragraph). Any more than that, warnings will be issued up to and including a forum ban. Specifying a paragraph count limited to 3-4 sentences per paragraph gives a much easier picture of what a forum report should look like. People aren't going to count their words. Admins can moderate reports much easier that way by just looking at the initial post and responding posts. If walls of text are included, close the thread. Ask the OP to resubmit in the above format. Don't be afraid to issue forum warnings for breaking these rules.
  12. The hero we need, but not the hero we deserve.
  13. I've come across several this way. Excited I finally find something in the area I want all to find out there's 150K worth of furniture in there and I can't afford it. Sigh. Heavily support +++
  14. There's nothing wrong with being open to new players learning. I honestly don't think many people have an issue with that. What many of us are saying is the server shouldn't be open to letting things slide so much in the name of "we're a teaching server". We were all new players at one point. I made sure I took the time to read the damn rules before starting to play here rather than just referencing them to pass the entry test and figuring it out as it goes. It's the responsibility of the player to understand the rules. If they are new, don't understand something within a more complex rule and that's readily apparent in a report? That's why admin discretion is there to guide them on the right path. I have no sympathy for simple rules being broken though. The rules are plain as day for people to read before they start their RP journey here. That goes double for people who have been here for well over 6 months to a year and still get "the benefit of the doubt". Sorry, you should know the rules. I have a harsh point of view from years of moderation experience, so it might sound a bit jaded. I don't accept the, "I didn't know that was a rule" excuse, especially when its a crystal clear rule. You're made to accept that you read and understood the rules before playing here. I don't know why it should come as a shocker when you get punished for it. We can be open to teaching new players and still enforce the rules at the same time.
