caballero
On one of my threads, HaveADream told me that they only allowed allowed 2 casinos. Upon gathering a list of all casinos & establishments that contain gambling, I haven't heard back about anything that has been done about these casinos. They're killing other businesses and making a shit load of money which is not reinvested in the server at all and is just left for the owner to play around with. Someone claimed that a casino could make 500k an opening. There's more downsides but I'm hella tired rn so I'll just link down to my thread and let people post on here. I'll leave down the list of the casinos : Swallow Lounge & Casino The Grand Rockford Casino The Lucky Hunch Casino The Long Haul The Lucky Fish Casino The Diamond Casino Lucky Buddha Gambling Parlor Rounders Card Club Mercury Lounge Edited May 6, 2021 by Santanaa Link to comment
.Pluto.
There should actually be two casinos, two big ones. Lucky Fish is big enough, and let's say, in my opinion, Grand Rockford. Having bunch of casinos ruins profits for everyone, and on top of that, it ruins the chance of participating in illegal gambling. On top of that, gambling licenses and stuff like that still aren't established. Link to comment

For Ever
I feel like there should indeed be about 2-3 casinos. Lounges playing poker is not a major issue, because that's what some lounges work with IRL in their VIP section. Most of it is legalized and sometimes non-legalized, but people still do it. It's quite a simple thing, hard to remove. I feel like a CASINO is different from just a parlor for the fact that most of the gambling in a casino is professional, whilst, in real life cases, more scamming etc happens in lounges and businesses like that. My suggestion: Allow three casinos, or form a script to where all the casinos open once or twice a month, so all the casinos make money and at the same time, they do not over 24/7. Lounges should stay as they are. If it's licensed, it would be fine for me. Link to comment
knppel
I personally think it should be possible to also simulate (shady) backstreet gambling dens where only a few people sit around a table. The issue is that these venues are treated the same way as actual casinos that have let's say, staff beyond a single doorman and a dealer. The two core issues here are a lack of risk (real life underground high stakes poker can't call the popo, and faces constant risk of other criminals trying to grab their cut), as well as that they're advertised publicly the same way. Beholder
I think the problem with only having two casinos is that, with time zones and personal lives, two casinos just isn't enough for the server. I think another big issue is so many places offering gambling on the side that maybe don't even have gambling permits or something. I can remember a handful of times, going to random open businesses and seeing blackjack and poker dealers. I really don't believe in enforcing businesses on an OOC level, really. While I understand having a bunch of casinos is annoying and unrealistic, enforcing ooc limits and scripts and "opening periods" is not how to respond to them. I think there just needs to be a stricter policy of gambling, and large fines for businesses that operate without gambling permits, or even risk their business being closed. DLimit
Rather than simply removing casinos, make stricter R.P. quality guidelines towards running a casino. Those that fail to stick to realism should have their casino removed from the map. Link to comment
mj2002
Enforcement of this would help, I should think. Link to comment

I mean, if you are going to restrict a specific type of business this severely, then Property Management had better have pretty strict requirements in terms of regular activity, and be willing to yank it back from people the minute they start slacking. I don't even gamble that much, but this would really limit opportunities for players who aren't on 24/7. Link to comment

I think there just needs to be a stricter policy of gambling, and large fines for businesses that operate without gambling permits, or even risk their business being closed. This honestly. In theory, the idea to "encourage rp" over money making by limiting specific businesses (casinos) to "trusted" players sounds nice, in practice it doesn't do any good. LSRP tried a casino scene with an artificial monopoly and only one person allowed to run a public one, with the result of this casino artificially filling (as people could only play public poker durings its openings), while at the same time the rp degraded (because the gamblers wanted to use the one night a week they were given to gambleas much as possible effectively, rather than to roleplay about gambling).
