The future of medical roleplay

On the topic of private EMS, if FD and PHMC are struggling with activity, how can a private EMS faction expect to be more active? Medical roleplay, especially at the paramedic level, is a niche and there's only so many people that know how to do it right, or are willing to learn it. Surely another medical faction would only spread the other faction's activity even thinner?

One of the reasons why PHMC and FD might be getting low activity, is the entry barrier, going through the recruitment, applying, academy (for FD), training, and so on, so that inherently discourages some people from doing that.

Opening up the field for private EMS should, in theory, provide the community with some more venues to have that kind of RP towards a group that suits their interests in roleplay a bit better than joining a state faction for it.

Weird simulationist scripts are almost always bad when they force RP on people. Just let people RP whatever they want to RP. The problem is that when people have problems now they already have trouble finding medical assistance, how is the addition of a disease script going to add anything at all?

I roleplayed being sick and getting tested for illnesses and things when Hope Clinic (I think it was called) had openings. Because that was actual roleplay with actual people, not some script. And it was easy to access since they had opening times where you were guaranteed to have someone there to RP with.

I come with nothing but data to show that FD and Lifeguards does actually have solid activity compared to the overwhelming call volume we deal with.

This is a historical chart of what we deal with on a month to month basis. We deal with a lot but our overall responses are for this year, higher than last year

Data wise we have over 100 people in the LSFD, 70% of them are Non Commissioned leaving about 10/15 people as Supervisory and Faction Leadership, respectively.

Here's a heat map of the calls we had in January -

For those who are interested in the LSFD, we are hiring on the 19th to the 26th of Feburary. https://lsfd.gta.world/viewforum.php?f=316

This discludes the thousands of departmentals that we get!

Like Mitch said! February 19th to the 26th! LSFD is HIRING

A lot of activity issues are starting from lack of RP, lack of support and lack of involvement by the community in this RP.

For every 1 player that plays with them, 10 others either disconnect, don't respond, ask to skip, say that they "have to go" and then log back in 5 minutes later.
This RP, as it stands nowadays, is boring and less attractive for both sides that are involved in it.
The reasoning behind this topic is to develop this RP, make it attractive and interesting, and with that activity will raise too.

Alright, so with this idea. I get it, like I said somewhere above; it's not for everybody. Nobody wants to sit through a 3-4 hour long process of an actual medical surgery (trust me I've done it before being the patient and it's fucking boring on the receiving end) you're just watching walls of purple text and answering /dos to keep the roleplay flowing if you're even asked that.

Now I get what this is trying to do, but like adding a cold system or disease system? From what I've briefly skimmed over the last few pages, those two things will not improve anything and will really just be an annoyance factor eventually because of activity issues. Unless something is put into place where a player can use something within PHMC for an NPC doctor/check up or something to help fix/cure a common cold or whatever it may be.

I know me saying the activity is an issue might come off as bashing, it's not or like I'm not trying to come off as bashing. But it's a genuine problem that I think a lot of people have mentioned before. I myself have tried getting proper medical roleplay quite a few times but get left with "we'll have to wait for the doctor to be in" and then you're placed in some room and bed bound for that duration of time. To AFK and be bored. Most of the time and it's happened recently with somebody that I RP with daily, they were trying to just have an eye check up with an orbital specialist or something. IDK what the technical term is. But the doctor that they were RPing with, was trying to give them a surgery that 70-80 year olds get for vision repairment. The character in which was getting the RP was 29 at the time of this RP occurring. So in my opinion adding stuff to progress the medical field of RP isn't needed it's the people RPing within it already that lowkey need to understand what surgeries and such they can provide for patients. Now again, I do not know if this was the correct or incorrect way to go about it. But ultimately it just lead the person that was supposed to have the surgery to just cancel it and not go through with it. Because the surgery was postponed for the next day and they had just logged in; they were assigned a room and were bed bound until the surgery the following day, then they had to stay in the hospital for the following days of recovery.

All in all, a lot of people just don't have the patience for this sort of RP to go over 2-10+ days. They'd just timeskip recovery because lets be honest here, nobody wants to do it rinse n repeat and limit their character for X amount of time. They'll just RP the after effects of having it done.

But to get to your last sentence, how would adding to the script for medical RP get this field of RP more active? It'd just make it more of a work load on the players that're active within this field more stressed. That's just how I see it anyways.

Also bring back the wheel chair script 😶

I hope it'll be possible when we implement the changes!

It caused the server to crash a lot 😕

Hopefully, our sick modders and devs can overcome the issues!

The LSFD does not have any academy stage, we haven't for a year(?). Recruitment goes through this:

Application

Interview

Acceptance - Induction

Field Training Program (Can be done in about a week providing your active and motivated enough)

We haven't had any sort of in-game academy for like a year now, all of our training is handled through classroom sessions and on the job training through the probationary period

Overall I think the suggestions above are focusing a lot more on "forcing medical RP to happen on players" and less on "Making medical RP more attractive and giving them more tools to work their roleplay", which maybe should be more focused than the first.

We need more scripts for medical personnel to rely on, such as measures for pulse for instance.
