Just an R.P.G. as people seek scripts to thrive, in general. This is beyond an illegal v. legal issue. You're right and I've said this too. It's not the robberies but the quality of roleplay 1 Link to comment

This is what roleplay makes you do. To portray: [...] to play a role, to depict a character, person, situation, or event. Before the robbery rules there were people who used a fully modded blacked out Torrence / Buffalo / Sanchez / whatever meta robbery vehicle to commit armed robberies. The top speed of the Sanchez got nerfed because of armed robberies, and I'm pretty sure the Torrence too yet that didn't help with the robberies issue, it just moved players to the newest meta car. Barbary
One look at the reports section can tell you what the hell the problem is. It isn't the rules, it's that people always look for the smallest bit of wiggle room to exploit and get one up on whoever they're playing against. It's like you're in a Dungeons and Dragons match where everyone's a rule's lawyer. An army of 'That Guys' having a primordial slapfight with the same amount of self-awareness as a deadbeat alcoholic. 1 Link to comment

They break the rules willingly, because most people don't care enough to go through a week long report process. But if they stole more than $500 and a phone, someone WILL have the time of day to write up a report. Then they have to lawyer their way out of their 4th ajail. "Nooo, we didn't intentionally use vehicles. We were visiting a friend in the area... and we all had masks and guns... and we parked around the corner for reasons...then we robbed you. Totally unrelated." - Anyways, it's way better now than it used to be. Anyone from 2018-2019 remembers how it was when vehicles were allowed. People in dirtbikes would patrol Mirror Park every 10 minutes looking for some off-duty cop to be outside for 10 seconds, so they could rob an easy gun. But because that happened, and because it continues to happen (even if it's against the rules), nobody wants to be outside. Edited November 21, 2023 by 𝔱𝔬𝔵𝔦𝔠𝔞 2 Link to comment

It doesn't help that the way reports are handled are nearly crafted to become a knock-down, drag out yelling match between the parties involved until the handling admin almost always has to step in and tell people stop acting like fucking children. No wonder no one wants to report. It's less years off your lifespan just to ignore it and move on, which makes people think they're invincible. 1 1 Link to comment
CowboyYoda22
Lol the real issue is like others said, people treat this shit like an RPG. Acquire Script Assets Sell Generic Script Assets for Money Take Screens and Post them to look good for your faction Level up your grime meter and now you're promoted in your faction. Literally the same 5 concepts are always done over and over in terms of what people do on the server. If you play for any amount of time, you'll quickly realize that a majority of people don't want to RP something if they don't get script money. It's pretty hard to get people to RP something just for the sake of RPing things, and instead everyone no matter if they're illegal or legal do the same 5 types of RP that are congruent with their realm of RP. It's why the server largely becomes boring after the shine wears off. This is 100% a community issue, and I doubt it will ever change. 5 Link to comment

I find people don't want to report for 3 reasons A) Half of all reports result in literally everyone involved, reporter, reported, and sometimes even witnesses, receiving jails or bans. Including the reporter. B) Reporting people for non-serious things can be sort of a dick move, people only tend to do it when there's OOC drama or if they're a karen C) The rules are overly complicated, and half the time I bet people aren't even aware rules were even broken. I really want to discuss A, but this topic is more about C 2 Link to comment
Fanden
What we all have to think about in regards to realism is that yes, vehicles being used in robberies happens in real life. That being said, the ratio of criminals to everyday people in the server is SUPER inflated in comparison to real life. The frequency of robberies are also much higher. We have a realistic crime rate of 495 violent crimes per 100,000 people per year in California by estimates in 2022, that number is largely inflated here. The argument for why? This is a game, which is the same argument that's used to restrict the amount of robberies that is affecting other people's RP. Is the rule dumb? Yep. Is it probably needed for RP quality? Also yep! I think the restricted crime areas were a step in the right direction to allow the overall rules to relax a bit, but, it's hard to find a happy middle ground in the age old debate of crims rp v civi rp. The two depend on each other and one can't suffocate the other. 6 1 Link to comment
