Eh, I just don't make mine super in-depth prior to actually roleplaying. For the most part, I get some core details down, phases of life that my character has had prior to creation, impactful life events, family situation, important past platonic or romantic relationships and just improvise on the fine details in-game when relevant and stick to it.
