Aren't the changes in the robbery rules questionable?

Constant toxicity in this thread. Will be handing punishments to whoever chooses to continue.

I'm reading the replies, staying up to date with the thread (mostly) and ... Honestly...

It's almost like saying that if you allowed every method under the sun to be used by robbers, but prohibited them to steal guns, unless they were drawn against them ... all problems would magically go away....

I mean, if it's GUNS that's the main motivator behind people offering sub-par time-limited robbery scenes to their victims, then taking GUNS out of the equation as a rule instead of vehicles, distance, number of people or whatever, means that there is now a 0% chance to find a gun, so the only robbery RPs that will take place will be the ones about... Roleplaying snatching someone's valuables.

Oh, but last time someone suggested making stealing guns from people against the rules, the Internet broke and the forum exploded 🤣

Which would again ignore the fact that the underlying issue is (imo) IFM’s management principals and the fact that nothing on this server is IC, that whether “legal” or “illegal” at a certain level everything is predetermined by players and their OOC relationships. That includes the aggressive carving of available markets essentially grid locking everything. And the fact that nothing new is ever attempted out of fear it’ll fail or upset people. People are constantly maintaining their status quo. One of the most obvious indicators is that things only change around here after people leave/get banned/turn to something else entirely. The “problems” brought up in this thread are literally just a symptom.

Weird how realism comes up yet again from the same crowd that insists realistic investigative tools and law enforcement resources is "not fun". It's realism first until people start discussing realistic prison sentences that actually reduce rampant crime. Robbery victims are told repeatedly to not ignore the risks of rampant criminal activity in the city if they don't want to be victims, but screeching ensues the moment you tell criminals not to ignore the risks of a well-armed law enforcement presence if they don't want to be in prison.

Nobody in this thread has said anything about LEO nerfs or prison sentences, you’re just making assumptions. The sentences are fine though, this is an OOC time, not an IC time. Do you want to punish people OOC for crimes committed IC?

When are certain people going to realize this is a video game and there have to be balancing rules to ensure players can have fun?

Why are there DM rules? Killing with little to no reason happens all the time in America.

Why can't you RP a mass shooter? Mass shootings occur often in America.

Why can't you RP (domestic) terrorism of any sort, it happens in America.

I could go on and on about the things that are entirely realistic but we have rules in place to make our little 800player virtual world semi-livable so you're not breaching the fear roleplay by legitimately just living in Los Santos as a law abiding citizen which nobody in their right mind would do in real life if you look at the crime/murder rate.

This isn't a realism thing, this is a balance thing to keep the server playable. Take a step back and get some fresh air.

Yeah that seems to be the factor with a lot of the people who cry on here.

Robbery Rules need to be revised to meet both sides of the community, there are currently way too many restrictions and it's preventing genuinely good robbery roleplay from occurring.

The best course of action would be to revert some of the listed restrictions under the robbery rules and harsher punishments need to be laid out to be people who can't commit a robbery in a realistic manner. Instead of dishing out warnings, a-jails and temporary bans need to be dished out.

"If it's not fun for them, that's their problem. If it's not fun for us, it's punishment and shouldn't be allowed to happen."

Im so fucking tired of hearing y’all complain about criminals doing criminal activities like we’re the weird ones.

We're tired of hearing a minority of the criminal community kick and screech any time law enforcement figures out a means to enforce the law like they're somehow the bad guys. It's always one side blatantly ignoring the other and then getting upset when it negatively impacts the server population until new rules finally restore balance.

harsher punishments

This is the fix. If someone's not being realistic about their portrayal, if someone's breaking rules, it needs to escalate swiftly enough that people will do everything in their power to avoid breaking the rules.

Honestly I wouldn't even have given Plug's response the courtesy of a reply, as it highlights EVERYTHING that's wrong with the community, it's general mentality towards civilian roleplayers and shows just how many are like-minded. To be honest, it's worrying but not surprising. Clear proof that it's a deeply rooted problem if ever there was any.
