  1. I've encountered desync, of the "driving down a country road at 75-90mph and suddenly my screen stutters and I'm in the middle of a bunch of emergency vehicles. 9 times out of 10, a bunch of emergency vehicles are what cause that sort of thing, though there's other sorts of desync I've noticed, like other cars rubberbanding and so on. I've also driven past a motorcycle, and on my side there's no contact, and on their side they tell me there's no contact, but they ended up knocked off the motorcycle and tossed down the road. I don't know what to tell you other than it happens. And I generally drive at reasonable speeds and pause (or at least slow down a lot, fine me) at intersections, depending on visibility and my character's state of mind.
  2. Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, move felony amounts of drugs for me maybe.

    Toxicity Rule.

-1 Some punishments seem too harsh sometimes, but when you let people run around being toxic without correction, the whole community turns toxic. You see it again and again. And it feels a little hypocritical to tell people to be mature and deal with it, as if throwing around insults over a game is mature behavior. Learn some self-control?
  4. Rockstar designed the map for people to use their imaginations on travel times and distances, and it really shows. Personally, I find it easier to do that than pretending the map makes any sense 1:1. The only way the current map makes sense is if Los Santos is actually just an island theme park with a California theme and copies of Los Angeles landmarks all squeezed together. Then the extras pretending to be gang members actually got their hands on real guns and the park was abandoned and became a huge, unethical social experiment. I guess I'd play that. But either way clarity is good!
  5. It's a meaningless insult referring to anyone who isn't gang banging or shooting heroin under an overpass or something. Use better words.
  6. Praying someone will DM you just so you can consider yourself PKed out of further interactions with them.

You should probably quit playing GTAW if it affects you this badly. Take up a more wholesome hobby or join one of those Christian Moms Against Filth groups and write to your local politicians, you'll probably be happier that way.
  8. The Republican party wins elections in LS, which is absurd, but that's what you get when everyone is playing macho criminal types or immersed in that sort of culture. Some opinions do feel like they're more from a Chechen boomer who's never seen someone with dyed hair before than from a citizen of faux Los Angeles, but I don't think there's much you can do about that. The demographics are unrealistic, so you're going to get statistically improbable behaviors a lot more often than you would. It's the same thing as crime. A lot of people just play garbage human beings, whether that is criminals or homophobes. PS: I'm not inferring anything about the players. While some clearly enjoy being edgy little meme trolls or are just plain bigots, they could be the most progressive people in the world and the IC game culture would still lean that way for a lot of reasons.
  9. -1 Sorry, but this just feels like pointless busywork. Are people really hoarding bowls of soup? If they are, it is a bit silly , but not really a problem that needs to be addressed. A system that would actually take into account the variety of food item expiration times would be way too complex for no actual gain. For example, "two weeks" for refrigerators doesn't make sense, since most have freezers, not to mention that some foods just don't go bad that quickly. The part about "a smell of rotten food" just feels like a joke suggestion.
  10. Why does this tiny town of ~1000ish have an airport? With another two a few minutes away? Why does it have a shipping port? Why does it have that many fire stations and police stations and government offices? Why does it have a bunch of different law enforcement agencies? Why does it have 300 different gangs? Why is there a tiny desert in the middle of the island? And who exactly is working in those high-rise office buildings? The map makes no sense if you interpret it 1-to-1 because it was never meant to be interpreted that way in the original game.
  11. If you're playing cops and robbers, yes. If you're trying to play a character that makes sense, not really. What is this, some sci-fi scenario where some catastrophe wiped out 99% of the population but people keep wandering through the empty streets of a dead ghost city acting like life is still normal?
  12. One requires you to use your imagination and fill in the blanks. The other creates an impossible reality that makes no sense to roleplay in, and still requires you to use your imagination extensively.
  13. You can assign your custom number to a new phone, but just that number, right? Either way, getting way off the thread topic. PS: This game should really have better help files.
  14. Oh! I guess it wasn't my first character on that slot, so that might be why that didn't work for me? Or because I had a custom # on that character slot before? Either way, you should just be able to buy a new phone and assign the old contract to it, really.
  15. Just don't carry anything, and the most you lose is some time and having to endure some 14-year-old insult your character for being broke. The only problem is phones, because you do need to pay RL money to be able to have a unique number that's easy to transfer, or you have to keep changing numbers every time you get a new phone. Having to pay to have contract phones work the way they're supposed to is a pain. But really, even if I'm carrying something and get robbed, it's just money. Is it annoying? Sure. I made a character and was robbed on my first day within hours of buying her first phone the other night. The amount of crime tends to ruin any attempt at normal character development if you take it seriously. But if you just RP it quietly and move on, it's over faster, and if people escalate, then it's on them and you can report them for their regular 10 min ajail.
  16. Does a 1960 car devalue over a month or even a year of driving? Not really, the only thing that matters is condition. This goes for pretty much any older car, of which there are a lot. Also, in GTAW, people drive cars for a few months most of the time, it's just not enough time to significantly alter a vehicle's condition unless they're treating them terribly. But let's say someone has had a car for 3 years. Should maintenance be that much more of a problem in 2022 vs 2019? Deterioration at the scale people generally propose just isn't all that realistic.
  17. -1 for the Richman hotel, it's the only actual hotel on the map, leave it alone. +1 for new buildings, there's a ton of buildings on the grid that don't have apartments in them.
  18. You have to suspend your disbelief in terms of geography. It doesn't make sense, it wasn't meant to make sense and you can't make it make sense. But it makes even less sense if you act like distances and pop are 1-to-1 or anywhere close to it. For a population that low, you have to throw away the pretense that we're portraying LA, tear down all the factions and institutions that are based on LA, and come up with original lore or pick a different town to portray.
  19. I agree, but the problem there is volume and the fact that you simply don't have enough business volume to charge realistic prices. So you have to charge more per item, because of how few customers you actually get - this goes for any creative endeavor. The fact that it's mostly porn is what it is, but also because the minute you try making an actual movie or something, everyone is suddenly a cinema critic and expects Vinewood production values. On top of that, the reason it's viable to charge that much (I haven't looked at the price scheme) is that the economy is already broken and people are sitting on tons of cash, and also people are comparing their income to the basic $4k retail clerk hourly income. That's the standard people have to judge their own income and expenses against, not realism. Especially because the scale of money at the beer level, at the supercar level and at the house puchase level are different. You can't really buy an apartment for the price of 1000 beers IRL, after all. In the end, this just makes excess cash circulate. The problem is portrayal. You can sit on millions and simply don't portray them if it doesn't make sense for your character. Do people get rich off OnlyFans? Sure! But only a very few people, who work a lot harder than selling one picture occasionally, who get very lucky, or who already start their OnlyFans with clout from other sources and have an audience already. Which is why it makes some sense for relatively popular FB egirls to rake in some money if that is how they're portraying it but it would make more sense for the characters to just RP it as a lower-to-middle class job that pays the bills. PS: 30k per picture does seem excessive even with all that.
  20. Have to buy two phones on the first day on a character because the first phone got stolen at gunpoint within two hours of buying it.
  21. Allow the spawning and make a reportable rule against having a ton of vehicles needlessly parked together, it's not that complicated.
  22. I had a female lifer at one point, but it was just empty and, at one point, very weird because of a giggly flirty girl. And as much as I'd love to get my Orange Is The New Black on, that was just silly. There's a lot fewer female criminals, so a much smaller pool of people that may end up in jail in the first place. On top of that, you just don't have the same politics with outside repercussion as you do in the male pod, so that's even less of an incentive. It'd be strictly for people who are into more slow-paced, passive RP.
  23. That was a made up nonsense example, but now that I think about it... something to do with double chins, maybe? People nod too much anyway.
