  1. I love that one solution proposed is to make PKs even more trivial, just a little consequence-free 3rd-person shooter mini-game.
  2. I tend to agree that there are too many dumb robberies, but this is exactly the sort of situation where robberies like this happen? It's not targeting some random person on the sidewalk just because they're there, it's a targeted robbery on someone who very likely has a lot of money. The risk is high, but so is the reward, there's nothing wrong with that. The fact that casino RP is totally unrealistic is the real problem.

    L&A

That's already a thing you can do. The Home key speeds it up and End slows it down.
  4. As someone who's worked a lot in IC restaurants and even owned one... ...please don't. I wouldn't want to deal with customers who aren't there for the RP, but only for OOC healing reasons. Thank you.
  5. I've been able to stay logged in for hours with no problems, other times I'm crashing every 10 minutes. Hard to say what is triggering it, though.
  6. The best screenshots are like this: Two figures, too dark and blurry to see anything. You gave XXXX drug to <BLANK>. <BLANK> paid you $XXXXX.
  7. Having had a number of characters that worked in restaurants and food service places, I would HATE to have customers who are just there because they're forced to and aren't really interested in the RP at all. I don't care how much more money I'd make, it won't be fun for anyone.
  8. So people they can tell themselves, "sure, I may be roleplaying a concept that belongs in 1980s LA rather than the Year of Our Lord of 2023, but at least we're not the LCN".
  9. How am I supposed to know which is which?
  10. It's one possible response. The other response involves no longer playing in GTAW, whether because your character becomes a traumatized shut-in or because they do the sensible thing and move out! Realistically, living in Los Santos is non-fear RP.
  11. Have played in Sandy a bunch, I have a trailer, and love the derelict abandoned desert vibe, so I'm generally against the more dramatic overhauls. However, some of the abandoned trailers and shacks are copy-pasted with very little use or interest and could easily be replaced by usable (if grungy) trailers or small homes without hurting the overall vibe, easily. It's not much, but anything helps.
  12. The thing is, for that, you often have to make up your own reality that's usually completely disconnected from the scripted reality of your assets and the economy in general. And then you'll end up clashing with someone else living in an entirely different reality from yours, and that's a headache. "Sure, I'll just work a few more shifts as a convenience store cashier and save up enough money in a couple of weeks to buy my own apartment in a nicer neighborhood. And a better car. That totally makes sense and I'll do it right away. Thanks for the advice!"
  13. I RP cooking and shopping for groceries, and have never felt the need for scripted items, but it would allow people to cook at home and sell food without needing a business script for it, for little street vendors and trucks. That's nice! It might be legally sketchy, which is fun, but unfortunately there's barely any business regulations or standards right now. Someone would need to think about pricing because this affects the restaurant businesses which currently use the regular trucking system for supply. If it's wildly cheaper to just make food items at home and sell them in the restaurant for a 1000% markup, that's not great.
  14. A lot of "unique" characters aren't really all that weird or unrealistic by RL standards. They're just not one of the conventional tropes that people expect on GTAW, so they stand out. On the other hand, a number of supposedly grounded and realistic characters immediately become John Wick the minute guns are out, but that's normal. Regardless, people who react with shock and awe at seeing fat characters should be summarily CKed for poor portrayal.
  15. Name: cupcakes Comment: what boost to the local economy? stop making stuff up, everyone I know just thinks it's an annoying overpriced eyesore that messed up traffic

    fix drug rp

I've noticed that if I'm riding my character's bicycle and crash, it actually treats 102 HP as 2 HP and kills my character from the tiniest fall. Oops! If she gets punched it doesn't happen.
  17. That's just not true. I've had tons of fun being robbed IC. I've gone into situations while OOCly knowing or at least strongly suspecting my character was going to get robbed.
  18. "Get a gun, hire security, avoid sketchy situations." A few threads down: "There's too many vigilantes, disarm security guards, get rid of metal detectors, why are the streets so empty and no one buys my drugs?" It's the circle of life.
  19. I think it used to be a lot worse, with absolutely ridiculous robberies happening regularly, within the rules. It feels a lot better, like the rules in place have curbed the worst nonsense, but maybe some areas are still rough. Is the number of robberies still unrealistic? Yes. Because the proportion of robbers to law-abiding citizens is goofy. But I don't know if there's anything that can be done about that, though. I don't get robbed a lot these days, but I am the target of an utterly absurd, unrealistic number of car thefts. It doesn't really bother me all that much, but I don't know how I'm expected to RP that. Some people say you shouldn't take the crime rate IC, but if the crime is happening to my character, should I erase it from my continuity? And then other people whine if you don't play inconvenienced or traumatized enough in response to their grimy badass criming. It's a rough one, on an individual level, deciding how to handle that sort of thing and if you're going to incorporate unrealistic nonsense into your character development or not.
  20. I feel like people who are proposing making the outfit system more expensive just don't use it all that often. Even at current prices, I spend thousands per month on this already. I will literally make an outfit just to change which pair of sneakers I'm wearing, or which t-shirt, or which necklace. I'm not buying anything new ICly, I'm just making new outfits, because that's how clothes work IRL. You can mix and match items you own.
  21. I feel like you'll never ever have anything resembling a realistic economy, anyway, so I just don't think there's a need for this. Hunger and thirst would be an annoyance, and I say that as someone who regularly buys food at 24/7s just for the roleplay and has a bunch of burgers and tacos in her character properties. As someone who has worked and owned a restaurant, I don't think I'd want people coming there just to get their hunger meter fix, either. Plus, it's not a money sink for the game in general, because you're just circulating money to other players. And I don't think forcing specific higher prices for clothes, or making them only available in certain stores is a great idea either. First, you'd need to completely overhaul the outfit system, which is just too rudimentary for that right now. Second, you don't know if I'm wearing a genuine item I just got in a store in Rockford Hills or a fake I bought for cheap in Chinatown, or a worn-out thrift store find from a decade ago or what. Sure, raise taxes or lower income overall or something, but gamey systems like this are just an annoyance and force a lot of non-IC behavior and results.
  22. Maybe if you can demonstrate with logs and screenshots that your victim was flashing wealth obviously in front of you (and you weren't just scouting around in a car /examining everyone at random in the middle of the night), you could be allowed to target them within some limits in terms of location and MO. Like if you're in a risky location, you go in, you snatch the specific item or demand their cash and leave, you don't stand there with guns out patting them down thoroughly in the middle of the street in Rockford Hills. Instead of needing pre-approval by an admin, the screenshots would serve as a defense after the fact if you were accused of breaking the robbery rules.
