  1. I feel like the clothes option can be further explored. I agree with you that increasing the cost of changing outfits dramatically is problematic in line with what you described. That doesn't mean it can't be changed to $250 though, right? Beyond that, limited items that need to have with you in order to equip seems like a nice way forward. If it'll be a real money sink though, I dont know. It would certainly create a 'market' for luxury fashion items if the right modded clothes are used. The easiest solution would simply be to charge owners a percentage of a property's market price each week or each month. Beyond this, fuel prices can be twice as high easily. They're just an afterthought now. overall, in my view there's some viable options; Reduce new player checks (perhaps to $175.000 for starters?) Reduce the hourly paychecks (maximum $500) Increase fuel prices Percentage based property tax relative to market value The limited availability clothing system would need some more thought and work.
  2. No one has a problem with the actual masks themselves. The problem is with the way some players (not characters) act when their nametag is hidden. We should consider changing or getting rid of that system instead of creating IC or OOC rules against the use of masks.

    Income Tax

Sure, but the money mechanics earn comes from other players, unlike the legal faction payments.
  4. I'm not looking for a rule honestly. There's no point really. Rules don't change a mentality. Like I said, if the reasons really are those as you claim, then we don't need the OOC name tag hiding right? Its just a fashion statement.
  5. I must have missed the part where reports take a month for an administrator to pick up now. The oldest is from Wednesday? Why do you need this OOC protection? Just keep it IC.
  6. If they MG name tags then just report the players involved.
  7. I'm just trying to figure out what use case this would cover that isn't already covered by the other versions of this model.
  8. So you're saying the mask use is for portrayal and not because people want to hide their name tag? In that case we can just get rid of that feature right? Since your concern is about what's normal in America.
  9. The suggestion does not imply this. As stated at least three times in the original post, the values are not set in stone.

    Income Tax

You don't really want to start delving into taxes because to make it fair would make it too complex and too annoying. Instead, you'll want to reduce the ways in which the server generates money. The most effective way to reduce this, in order of impact: Reduce new character checks (currently $200.000 per character) Reduce hourly paychecks ($500 or $800) Reduce legal faction weekly wages Of these three, the first two make up a very large portion of the money generated. Adjust those somewhat, and you're already making a good impact on the economy. Assuming the economy would cool off a little, you can then also reduce the third one accordingly.
  11. Stock markets can't be a thing, until some core issues with the concept are resolved. There's some threads about this where the issues are explained. Its unfortunate, but that's how it is. For insurance, there's already a higher fee for high end cars. Some cost like $1000/day. The investments, its obviously already possible to do this, but businesses are relatively easy to run on GTAW. You can't really turn a loss unless you're doing something seriously wrong.
  12. It has definitely been brought up in other threads before, but by all means go post it! It deserves a serious look.
  13. I don't recall seeing an individual suggestion thread for this concept, but I think it deserves one!
  14. Reducing the amount of money coming into the server through new player checks would be the best way to solve these problems. Beyond that, I also appreciate limited (edition?) clothing items.
  15. Generally, cars require maintenance by miles driven, and much less by time passed unless you're barely using the vehicle. What would your alternative be?
  16. Can you send me your contact details?
  17. What do you think about the rest of the concept, regardless of the undetermined values regarding how often this happens?
  18. Let's get a few things out of the way. The 'every 100-300 miles' thing sounds ridiculous until you realize that the average vehicle on the server doesn't reach more than 300 miles in its lifetime. Yes, there are exceptions, but I'm talking about an average. 100-300 miles in GTAW does not equate 100-300 miles in real life. I'm not sure if this is what you're implying, but if you are then it is not an honest point. Secondly, the suggestion is not aimed at trying to annoy you specifically. It is to bridge the gap between zero breakdowns (current system) and 'too many breakdowns' (a system that is annoying to everyone). We'll need to find a decent value for the number of breakdowns per mile driven on the server, and then an additional number of engine shutdowns per mile driven on the server. As has been stated at least three times in the first post; Value subject to change! No need to complain about something for which there is not even a firm number yet. The point is, right now we have essentially nothing, and this can be improved. I specifically proposed a system that doesn't leave the character stranded most of the time, but instead uses all relevant car mechanics that I could think of to make it dynamic, and somewhat interesting system instead of just being punishing and annoying. Thirdly, you have a solid point about mechanics workload. This is something that needs to be considered. In my view, too much mechanics time is spent 'modding' cars, rather than maintaining or repairing cars. This gets us closer to realism, which should be something we collectively strive for, as long as it remains fun. That last part is important, so I think your point here is valid. Shifting more time from modding where it is unrealistic (characters outside the car culture rarely modify their cars) and moving it to where it is realistic (repairs and maintenance) can help here, but either way it will be a challenging. I'm happy to hear people's ideas and thoughts on how to address this, one way or another.
  19. Business landlines provide an opportunity for developing roleplay. I think its better to turn it around and see how broad you can cast this net and how widely it could be used, rather than the other way around, trying to limit it. Especially if it's something that has to be renewed like weekly or biweekly, you'll have a business directory of active businesses that you can contact. Sounds great to me!
  20. For sale, a 1993 Albany Primo with low mileage and no frills. This car has always been taken care of properly. ((Please state your offer and contact information in a reply to this post.))
