  2. Easy enough. The only way this would alter the existing system is by making radio communication between all parties on the same channel audible as long as a receiver is on. As long as more than one person in a radius is on the same channel, to avoid crosstalk, the message would appear in public once as ** Radio - Name: xxx **. Only users of the radio would know what channel is being used. Edit: I like @vermin's suggestion that upon dropping an active radio, it would continue to relay that channel and anyone who picks it up could determine that channel. If you wanna make it more complicated, there could be /radio hi, lo, mute and squawk options to control volume match it up to regular conversation and /low radiuses. Personally, I'm against any earpiece options except maybe to high-level SWAT or undercovers--not beat cops or gangbangers or mechanics.

  5. "Hales Tales is a blog updated semi-frequently by me, LS resident and ULSA student Haley Connor. I spend much of my time checking out LS's many different bars and clubs and a new one seems to open our change ownership by the day! To help LS's people keep up with the city's nightlife, I've started this blog where I will visit and review the many bars and clubs LS and the state has to offer." Hales Tales 1: HEAT Nightclub article in plain text: Hales Tales 1: HEAT Nightclub I went to HEAT this Saturday expecting nothing special, and wasn’t surprised. In the sea of samey nightclubs LS has to offer, HEAT does nothing to really differentiate itself. However, within the established formula they do a decent enough job. When I arrived and ordered a drink, the bartender did know how to make it with no problems. This is rare in LS as anyone who’s a fan of cocktails will know. Albeit, it was just a simple vodka cranberry. Still, I’ve had many-an-LS-tender serve me a separate glass of vodka and cranberry juice – so that’s a plus in my book. However, the service did take some time. Not sure why, but I was told to wait a moment when I walked in. The two tenders conversed amongst themselves for a wee bit before returning to serve me. Not a major issue, but a bit frustrating when you’re trying to get your night started. Turnout was slow at first for the midnight opening. By 12:30, the club a bit busier, but not significantly so. Business stayed slow throughout the evening and the club closed shortly after 1am. This was a bit peculiar. The standard for clubs in LS seems to be to keep their doors open for at least two hours. Perhaps it was the low turnout that inspired the management to close early. The music was definitely a low point at the venue. Throughout the short opening, I heard the same three or so songs loop multiple times. There was an individual standing in the DJ booth, but judging by what seemed to have been an autoplaying selection, I’m not sure what he was up to. The interior itself, though nothing special, is unique from other clubs in its own right. Upon entering, open flames behind the bar catch your eye, and good placement of red lights add to the atmosphere. Plants and other additions to the dance floor are keep the place looking unique. See the pictures below for a better look. Overall, HEAT is a perfectly acceptable place to enjoy an evening out. It does nothing special or unique, but what it does do it does well. Owner Shang Takashi had this to say about his recent acquisition of the club, “Hey, I just took the place over, not so long [ago]. This is our second opening.” When asked about the club’s current interior, he said, “This interior is the basic requirement when you own a nightclub. It’s nothing fancy. A few unique, as you can see, plants and stuff. There’s definitely more to it, which is under development at the moment.” When asked about these plans for the future, Takashi said, “For future plans, I wouldn’t want to give anything away yet. No false hopes. We’re working on it currently.” That being said, I plan to visit again once Mr. Takashi is able to put his secret plans into motion. As of now, HEAT is a solid and average night club. Takashi seems to see more potential and seeing where he takes the venue in the future will be interesting. Breakdown and score below! Service: 5/10 Environment: 6/10 Staff Friendliness: 7/10 Music: 3/10 Overall: 5/10

  7. Short description: Make weather last longer, at least 30 minutes for each one. Detailed description: Tired of having a thunderous rainstorm to happen, roleplaying putting your jacket on only for it to clear up before you've managed to zip up your coat? I think everyone is. Let's have rain last a fair bit longer, around half a hour at the very least to maybe an hour or even two. Reason being is people like roleplaying the weather and it may be be done more if it didn't last less time than a microsecond and driving in these conditions would be more than a tiny short risk. 8. The South Grove Locos (SGL13 or GL13) also known as the South Davis Locos 13 or South Grove Treca are an infamous Mexican-American Sureño street gang, with cliques throughout the Los Santos County, San Andreas. They originated after World War II, during the late 1940s, in the "Grove Street" district of Davis, Los Santos. "Loco" means crazy in spanish. (1940-1992): After the race-conflicts in the East and South Los Santos past it was hard to find jobs for Hispanic and Afro-American people, most Mexicans were beaten up and robbed and lost even their last breadcrumb by Afro-American street gangs, the youth wasnt going to school no more as it was a useless timewaste to them since they wouldnt find a job anyway. They started to build groups so they could go all together through the streets, being stronger than before, thats how the first cliques were formed. Thats how things started off. The older Cholos/Chicanos of the Barrio showed them things, hung out with them, used them to beat up enemie-cliques and brought them into the "chicano life". The rivalry with the local Afro-American gangs lead to a bloody mess after a local gangmember named Raymond „Baby Lane“ Anderson shot Filipe „Jorge“ Gonzales little sister and raped her, then threw her dead boy out of his car, presenting her to the hispanic locals of Davis. On her wrist, a red bandana was bound. Things were changing drastically, within less than 2 hours cars got burned down around Chamberlain, Chicanos equipped with bats, crowbars and everything they could find were beating up the whole enemies neighbourhood. It was the first time "Tags" appeared, honoring the death of Filipe Gonzales sister. Things changed. From a clique of unemployed people and teenagers a new type of streetgang was formed. They called themselves "South Davis Locos" and were hungry to find revenge for Filipe Gonzales sisters death. No Afro-American next to Davis was safe no more against the barking-mad Filipe Gonzales and the South Davis Locos. The LSPD tried everything they got in hand to extinguish the fire of hate of the South Davis Locos. They managed to lock up almost half of the gang after time. After the past weeks things werent as before, as the South Davis Locos were now a feared street gang, being included in local newspapers and all after a big investigation started after Filipe and his two older cousins were slaughtering Raymond Anderson with 27 deadly stabs at August, 27th, 1972 infront of the Davis LTD. They managed to escape through the alleyways, leaving the bloody knifes there. After the investigations got further, they managed to find track of Filipe and locked him up, lifetime sentence. In Jail, Filipe Gonzales found his way in Jail. He became the head of his own crew with arms leading to the Mexican Mafia "La Eme". He managed to slowly build up a network outside, having his visitors being his pigeons telling the remaining South Grove Locos what to do in the name of "La Eme". A lot of bloody things happened, a lot of the members have been locked up, a lot of newcomers came in. Like the motto: Surenos don’t die – they multiply. The South Grove Locos 13 adapted the number 13, during the 1980s, which corresponds to the alphabet letter "M" signifying their affiliation with the Mexican-Mafia (or La EME). In 1992 the FIB started a big RICO act against the now called South Grove Locos 13, being part of the set, wearing its colors, having related tattoos, even the flashing of gangsigns was forbidden and lead to direct-imprisonment. The South Grove Locos 13 were dieng. It was a matter of time until they were completly ruined by the FIB. Almost everybody was either directly shot dead or jailed. The remaining left the area and either went back to Mexico or were hiding however they could. After some time, the South Grove Locos 13 were only a street-myth. Present: The time of riding lowriders and wearing Converse Chucks is over now, But not for Miguel "Chako" Chavez and Rodrigo "Silent" Castro, they grew up in South Davis and have countless family members, dead and alive who all live by the same lifestyle -Chicanos- who are still living after the culture and traditions and are putting in lots of work, reviving the South Grove Locos 13, avoiding mistakes done in its past. Crimes changed. People got beat up or shot for wearing wrong colors or being in the wrong neighboorhood back in the day. Nowadays they are taking taxes or bountys. Too many Hispanics nowadays dress up like black people, wearing Nike Jordans and all that, giving a shit about their real heritage, about traditions and culture like back in the days. Theres no cohesion anymore between hispanics, no more "La Raza". But things arent like that for the South Grove Locos. They are going back to old standards. Miguel „Chako“ Chavez and Rodrigo „Silent“ Castro are two charisamtic young men, who are trying to make it worthy, living in grove street, trying to get back the cohesion of the old days, the money and the respect. Due to the imprisonment of "Chako" leading to work for "La Eme" in Bolingbroke made him a name there, making him able to get instructions from La Eme. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OOC: We're currently aiming to realistically portray Hispanic Sureño characters ((South Park Locos 13 in reality)) that are trying to focus on the money-flow throughout the area they reside and making connections and enemies as they progress. Everything is to be strictly done IC and /b will be kept to a minimum, if possible none at all unless its a OOC situation. Feel free to send a private message to Enrique or Cudi on getting involved with our Faction, Discord and other parts of the Faction-Development. IC events will change the faction as it progresses onward and remember at the end of the day this is a game and this faction is just trying to encourage roleplay. Character development is a must here. therefore our main concept of the faction is all about the low-income area that we're from. Therefore you must acknowledge the fact that driving around with a Schafter or any other sportvehicles, is forbidden unless there is a clear reason for it. You must roleplay your character and it's background to the fullest extent to the point where you're grubbing together as much money as possible through the hard struggle of being a teenage gang banger. When approaching the faction and wanting to join, It is recommend you start out as a 12-17 year old teenager and then make your way up, as it is more realistic for you and for the whole factions atmosphere that you begin your development as a youngster, from around the Area we're roleplaying in.

  9. After the large success of my previous Theory of Roleplay post, I’ve decided to make it a weekly discussion. This post is regarding long term development of our characters, including traumatic events that should affect the lives of our characters’ to a greater degree, the effect that our CK’d friends should or should not have on us, and the long term effects of our decisions, our guest for this discussion needs no introduction - it is the one and only, @akari! If you’re interested in appearing on a later Theory of Roleplay, message me on either the forums or on Discord at HaveADream#4339 with your name and topic you wish to discuss. Akari is in Italics. By its very nature, activities within the server are very short term, serious injuries last no longer than a week, prison sentences are no more than an inconvenience (Soon to change!) and, just like a war-torn city, human life is cheap - but does that absolve us of our responsibilities to our greater character arcs? If you’ve been here long enough, your character will have a friend who has unfortunately passed away, now, ask yourself, would your character still think about that person, and is that reflected in your portrayal? Ultimately, everyone here is here to have fun, and spending hours of your time every day to mourn and visit a virtual grave isn’t the most enticing thing to do - you may ask; how does this enrich my experience, how does this add depth to my character and is it even worth it? I spoke to Akari to get his views on the situation. "Ultimately, I feel like everyone views their roleplay as more of a disconnected episodic adventure, rather than understanding their character as a three dimensional, breathing person with complex thought processes and, most importantly, a long-term memory. Massive changes in your character’s life should have an emotional impact on them, and in the case of someone else’s CK - more specifically, the death of someone who was close to your character, the impact should last longer than “____ is dead so my character is going to feel bad for the next two days and then they’ll be fine.” "For example, my gal Akari was very close to Teya Garcia, a girl who had gotten herself roped up into a whole lot of drug and hostage-related nonsense up in Sandy Shores. While she did try her best to rescue Teya from that life - getting her a ride back to LS, giving her a place to stay, checking her in to rehab and keeping tabs on her during recovery, etc - she was eventually found and murdered, which ended up fucking Akari up hardcore - not only is she trying to cope with the loss of a dear friend/vague love interest, but she’s also been left in a state of constant paranoia, is generally left watching her back at every turn, and has a strong aversion to Sandy Shores/north SA altogether. So not only has this death affected her on a personal level, but interpersonally as well, as it completely altered the way she interacts with characters of certain personalities and backgrounds." On the flipside, we can talk about the effect CKing (or even PKing) somebody else can have on your character. I’ve seen dozens of people try to RP ruthless hotheads, but we have to take a minute to draw ourselves away from the cinematic experience we picture this server as, and instead, look at real-world examples - most serial killers are driven by psycho/sociopathic tendencies. While it’s happened before, it’s VERY rare that someone of sound mental state resorts to murdering someone to solve a problem, let alone anyone who might inconvenience them. It’s even less likely for a character of sound mental state to walk out of that situation completely unphased and continue their lives as if nothing happened. If you’d like to use the excuse that your character is mentally unstable and therefore unphased by fatally injuring another person, then you’re by all means allowed to do so - but then you have to ask yourself, what are you roleplaying outside of this specific incident that helps support that particular aspect of them as a person? Death is not the only long term consequence of the crazy world we thrust our characters in, most certainly. The role of addiction is a big one that I’ve seen represented quite well, with many characters being spotted hunting down clubs for the next big fix of their drug of choice, but what happens if your character doesn’t get their fix - do they shake, do they get aggressive? Research is a big part of portraying a realistic character, and addictions can become a very big part of the development of your character, while medical roleplay is severely lacking in this regard, the role of third-party doctors are becoming more prevalent. For example, your character spends their days and nights off their rocker with the closest white substance they can find, but if they eventually decided to give up, what would they do? Would they fall back into their old patterns or seek help, will they be pushed into their lifestyle of sin by those closest to them? As I’m pretty sure a decent chunk of people know OOCly, and a few know ICly, Akari struggles with mild prescription drug abuse, after breaking a bone whilst dealing with a few other stressful factors in her storyline on the side. While she’s acknowledged that this is a problem and doesn’t particularly like this fact about herself, she hasn’t made any real effort to stop, and it’s worsened enough that her body has become fairly used to the dosage and she’s generally pretty functional while high. I’ve been trying my best to RP this out cover to cover - she’ll excuse herself from situations early if she hasn’t had a dose in a decent amount of time, she generally avoids alcohol if she’s taken any recently, and she’ll start showing physical symptoms and increased irritability if she’s been going long enough without (Apologies to everyone that has had to deal with my eye-scratching and dilated pupil RP) Meanwhile, I used to RP with someone whose character would snort lines of coke on the nightly and would suffer no lasting effects. Though I will give props to the fact they actually used the scripted item, I had not once seen them RP out any physical symptoms of long-term abuse, or any sort of withdrawal if they hadn’t used in a while. My personal opinion is that if you want to give your character any sort of addiction, you need to make sure it’s burdening all facets of their life, and not just popping in and out where you see convenient. Also use the items, for god sake. To me, long term development has a major role in how your character actively interacts with the world around them, I’ve been in situations where I have not been happy with my characters actions due to both the backstory I’ve enriched them with, or the events that have unfolded since their stay in Los Santos began as I've felt it hasn't properly mirrored what my character should have done. To counteract this, I tend to keep a copy of my characters ‘story so far’ open, which I do update after a significant change in their development. Speaking to Akari, it was obvious that long term developments are sometimes forgotten or disregarded altogether, eventually becoming a footnote in the biography of their lives. A thing I’ve had people question me about is how Akari tends to view other characters, including vividly retaining her viewpoint of them for weeks or months on end. But if you think about it, how many people in your life have given you strong first impressions, even if you haven’t really talked to them much on a personal level? Now take into account your character’s personality - are they one to hold a grudge or are they lenient with their second chances? Are they reclusive or open about their feelings? Are they a cynic or do they try to see the good in people? If someone gives you shit on your first meeting, you’re likely to keep a bad taste in your mouth. Likewise, if a stranger is nice to you, you’ll probably think of them fondly. Your character should be doing the same - if they’re petty, beef shouldn’t be squashed just because it happened longer than two weeks ago! Of course, you are most certainly free to develop your character and their willpower to resist these changes in whatever way you wish. It is so understandable to accept that you occasionally follow a path for your character to then want to change it entirely, I’ve done it, Akari has, and I’m sure the vast majority of us have - our characters are dynamic representations written as two-dimensional collections of words, but whether your character responds to the past or prefers to bury it? That’s up to you. Trauma, long term development and commitment is a way to enrich your experience and enrich the character you represent, as well as pulling them further away from yourself and establishing their own identity, far from your own. To me, long term development is a tool to build your character, and in the pursuit of realistic portrayal, it’s important we self-reflect on the paths we have to lead our characters and decide the way forward in a believable matter, your characters' past could define their actions today, and nothing stops that past from forming a major role in the life of your character. Thanks for reading, let me know your thoughts.

  16. Value of life PK's are retarded. Sorry to rain on your parade but if this is the case, why should you even roleplay? This is a roleplay community and if you're wanting to take it to the next step or enforce people to take that next step, you need to get some priorities straight. Lets stop dilly-dallying with these shit PK here or 10 minute respawn there. Value your characters life or you'll be CK'ed. This will not only make RP more organic and more unique, but it will also combat those many few who roleplay unrealistic characters. As soon as you implement this rule, the server will act a hundred times different. If not, there will be tens of CK's that go on per day because people cannot control themselves. What am I arguing?: When in any situation your character wants to make it out alive. You're not here to lose the least amount of items or avoid jail sentencing by a simple PK and respawn. Everything you do has consequences and at the end of each situation you should be roleplaying properly. Generally that means to survive. Watch your moves and act smart on the streets or whatever. You disregard your characters life, you're liable for a CK. Impacts?: Not only will you see many characters with realistic backgrounds thrive and survive in the world of GTA:W, but you will also see a decline in those characters who cannot roleplay worth shit and have poor development to back up there every action. This will encourage players to continue roleplaying on a singular character, effectively killing off the cancers and bringing hardened veterans. Illegal RP might decline due to the fact that everyone will be watching their moves; the administrative members can create a combat system that allows faction to have some PK-to-PK violence as in real life gangs have more than fifteen members. So what are we waiting for? Everyone on this server is so quick to change shit about PK's, but you're literally popularizing them. They don't do anything but cause IC and OOC drama and disconnect between reality and the game. Some people come here to roleplay with massive amounts of character development, others log on once in a while to shoot at people. At the end of the day we're all trying to roleplay within the rules and portray a realistic character and this will only benefit the RP scene.

  17. If we are talking about the value of life, I suspect people don't care because they don't have something else to look forward to in there RolePlay.. Ill give a bit of an example: From what I have seen, people that go around and attempt to rob people, really, that's all they do in the server.. so what makes the difference if they die or not? If they do anything else, it is usually heavily crime related, and nothing to do with actually a simple life RP. One of my characters has two sides to them. One side is a very evil, dark person, but on the other side, is a very nice polite person, works in a small company and would never be suspected of a thing. Some of the decisions that are made for that character, are depended on his family and what he thinks could happen in the future. He has a very big fear of doing public crimes, he likes to do everything very quiet and planned, professional, he doesn't want his family to be hurt. He will even stop in the mid of action because he realized what he is doing wrong, what could go wrong. If someone has nothing to look forward to, there RolePlay and value of life really doesn't change, besides for the mentality of "oh, I'm just going to die and respawn, we be all good" also the "Oh, it's just a PK, we just forget about this" - However, I am not saying there are people on the server that do a lot of crimes, robbing, shootings and hits, that do not know how to RolePlay. I just think the general 'civilization' that we see will always have two different RP'ers. Some that are new and not really caring for the 'heavy RP' and the other group who has been doing this for years, and know every aspect of RP, and basically the wrong from right. People need something to value besides themselves, to want to keep them alive. If the only thing we had was ourselves at all times, we would be in a very deep and dark place.. Imagine if you didn't have family, friends, someone to talk to in real life.. However, that is how a lot of people RP on the server. They hold these things back because it doesn't matter to them. PTSD is a real killer, and yet, half of the people on the server that kill, probably not once have valued what happens when you sleep at night, close your eyes, or get into a deep thought after you have killed someone. When it comes to the 'quick draw' as stated above.. that's all I ever see or have been encountered with sadly. There is never a time, unless I have presented the RP, to where fear of a gun actually comes in place. At all times, from what I have encountered or have seen, it is usually someone just running up on you, placing a gun to your head, and as someone stated, being able to do nine things at once.

  18. Really excited to have an actual member of an IRL three piece MC who's moved in the 1% outlaw circles reading through our faction's IC bylaws and handbook, this is gonna' add a next level realism aspect to our roleplay. We always strive to be as authentic and true to life as possible when portraying an outlaw motorcycle club.
