Several inconsistencies in the server continuity

It's normal in GTA 5 where the length of a day is 48 minutes and characters refer to distances as such. Trevor doesn't live a few miles out or a five minute drive from Michael, he lives a few hours away in the story.

That's not the case in GTAW. "people should be used to dealing with it" isn't a solution, either.

It can be easily imposed via a realistic continuity though? Simply say that hey Paleto Bay portrays this and this city from LA County. It's a 40 minute drive from Compton (Davis) to get there, so even if it takes you like 8 minutes to drive there, you must rp it as a longer drive. The solution is there, the continuity team just has to display any willingness to push for changes.

I agree - if anything I feel that they should've prioritised making rules on time/distance first, to make replacing LA/southern California seem more valid, but it was missed out.

Hard to say if they'll ever get to it since most good ideas (and good questions) about continuity have mostly been given standby answers, so it seems like it could take a while.

The problem with people refusing to accept some of the shortcomings regarding the map are meant to be gameplay/story segregated comes into play here, People love to use the "singleplayer may say that but gtaw isn't singleplayer" argument, but it doesn't change the fact Rockstar made the map an island for gameplay convenience, but anyone with half a brain can guess it's not supposed to be an island in-lore. Hell, Lester calls the water north of Paleto Bay a river once.

But the same problem comes into play on the other end - Los Santos was made as small as it is for gameplay purposes. Obviously they can't fit 5000 square miles into a modern day game map, so they compress it for gameplay reasons, but it should be obvious it's not meant to be that small. Trevor says somewhere in the game that Los Santos to Paleto Bay is a four hour drive. That's the reason why South Central LS is four blocks, Wilmington doesn't exist, and you can get from Hollywood to the ghetto in two and a half minutes.

The real problem is when the continuity team tried to take gameplay/story segregation shortcuts as face value of the city.

We live in a city buildt for a million people with 900 others, but real estate is notoriously short regardless

This is actually realistic. Due to a combination of COVID and companies buying up houses, thus leading to housing shortages across America. Obviously we don’t have COVID ICly but the second part could apply in game as an explanation to the housing market being in the toilet.
