  1. Lock and archive, please. It was great to start something of my own for once and had fun with the week or two that it existed. Unfortunately, the leadership I built this faction with went inactive two days in. This left me leading a faction on my own with the few other members that joined, whom were in separate timezones than me. My life got busier and although I still have plenty of time to hop in-game, it doesn't coincide with these other timezones which became frustrating not only for me but the other players. Thanks to those who came by or showed love.
  2. Firstly, I'm saying it doesn't affect my genre of roleplay because most people in it do this anyway. They namechange to join a new faction and sell their house, we don't get obsessive over the asset in general. You having 10,000 grams of cocaine does affect people. It affects people trying to come up in the criminal underworld, especially if you're selling that cocaine. Players are developing into this avenue and trying to be creative, yet you deem it okay for yourself to just spawn in with an undeveloped name-changed character and move like Pablo. You need to find new IC connections and move into this underworld like everybody else, not just be placed into it because your previous character was. Lastly, with all due respect if you spent thirty hours creating a house then that's on you. You spent thirty hours on a roleplay server not roleplaying, so I have little sympathy. It's great if you ICly built the interior as a designer or via construction roleplay but guess what? You just name changed so that character roleplaying in that field no longer exists.
  3. How many people do you think own their house irl compared to the percentage of those that have to rent? Nobody's saying you have to start homeless at all, it would help if you read the discussion instead of jumping to conclusions. For the last time, you get refunded and keep the money - you just simply have to find a different place to live on your new character. If your argument is still the same then ask yourself, why does every newly made character have to start homeless? It's the same thing. Exactly, the argument being that namechanges fuel the server and people buy them to keep their assets is false too. One, namechanges probably make up the pocket change of server income, as a prediction don't quote me. Also, you'll still be keeping around the rough value of your IC assets from before anyway so you don't really lose any money and if you do it's a minor inconvenience. How is that hard for people to just find a new house?
  4. There's literally limits placed on how you can roleplay in so many different aspects, I don't get your point.
  5. It's because they believe what rappers say lmao.
  6. I don't see your argument since I secured my apartment in a popular faction area for $35,000 with no reservations put in place by IFM or any OOC arrangement to get said property. $250,000 is more than enough and I understand the concerns that name changing will not revive your beginner pay checks, the point however is that you would be refunded most of the value of what you own. You will get your money back, maybe not all of it, but you will not be put in a position where you need to grind again UNLESS you have a mindset of needing as much as possible. So how does this differ to keeping your property? Monetarily, it doesn't. My argument isn't to set back people with this OOC bank balance, which we can all agree isn't a representation of your IC wealth. It just makes you start a fresh, like every character should. In my arguments I even stated that people would come from different backgrounds and starting positions, my real argument that people are missing is that they shouldn't hold onto all of their weapons / drugs and the exact same assets that their previous character had. You can use the refunded money to OOCly set-up your character as you wish, you just won't have the exact same assets. Your character cannot realistically have a backstory of living in the property your previous character owned as in the lore and continuity of the server, your previous character owned it until the name change. If there's a shortage of property? That's an IC issue and your new character will have to find what he can. People need to stop sitting on assets over multiple characters, that's my only point and people seem to miss that. I'm NOT trying to hit the reset button on anybody's bank account. If you want to keep the same property over two characters then re-buy it, that's not an issue, but if property scarcity is real then its an IC problem and whoever's next in-line to purchase one should have the chance.
  7. Who said anything about grinding? You don't need to have access to everything and anything on every character, that's the more RPG like-minded approach.
  8. I'm not sure who or which posts you're referring too but me and Taylor's discussion is on topic, no?
  9. You're getting very passive aggressive by suggesting I don't intertwine properties into my characters and use them in my roleplay as most should. Yes, a property is closely tied to a character and their story and there's heaps of roleplay to be associated with owning one. So you've basically agreed with me by stating that properties are fully roleplayed and tied into your characters story... they live in them, they develop them and they make them their own. A lot of their activities can take place in here and it's a piece of them... just to express, a piece of THEM. Not you. You're playing a character. I'm fine with it being a choice of the player whether they keep these or not, yet it's an echo of how many players are part of a bigger problem. Players who care about these assets have the complete wrong mind-set. Anybody who expects assets and property in return of a grind, instead of roleplay, literally aren't roleplaying. it does become confusing however when the server points a player in one direction with ways to grind out work shifts (albeit IC it's unrealistic to get said rewards from working as a bartend) yet we expect the opposite to be considered a good roleplayer. Even SD, in my brief time in training, were offering monetary rewards to complete jail shifts instead of finding capable roleplayers who want to engage there. I know money is still IC, people still get paid for jobs in the real world and they should here - yet I REALLY don't believe those incentives are anything but OOC pushes. You're inclined to disagree and I look forward to your points.
  10. I've never had more than $300,000 to a character because I'm not into the grinding on this game, or any other tbh. Nor have I ever roleplayed a character that requires any substantial amount of money. If you choose to dedicate hours and hours to getting a mansion and a variety of sports cars, then imo you're part of a much more complex problem with the server. Although as much as we try to keep those characters out of bounds with RPQM etc, the script does push players into it. You can sidejob to your hearts desire or work behind a bar for a month or two and be "rich." My point about property not bothering me is because I roleplay in factions and/or gangs and therefore the people around me probably own a $35,000 - $100,000 apartment. This means they don't give a fuck about it and will probably just sell it anyway when they name-change. The only reason I added it to mix was to get a gauge of what peoples reactions would be to losing IC property from their OOC perspective, especially in the civillian or legal scene. Why? Because if this suggestion was to remove guns and drugs from illegal roleplayers on name-change ONLY and not property? I can assure you the responses would be a whole different story.
  11. It literally states in the title and post, that you'd be entitled to sell your property or would be liable for a refund. I don't care so much about the properties as it doesn't affect my genre of roleplay that much, I care more about people spawning into the world with enough cocaine to kill the population and an armoury ready to go. I threw it in as a social experiment to see how people would react and it was exactly as expected; nothing but OOC driven responses. Your "grind" or hours put in means nothing. It's a roleplay server and you're supposed to be here to put hours into roleplay and that in itself is self rewarding. You're not supposed to be here to grind things out, and although it's each to their own as long as you're not breaking any server rules, therefore I have no sympathy for those who lose things. I do however think more should be put into place to help people fund the roleplay they want from the get go. You are given a free $250,000 from the server however, and although name-changing doesn't reset this for you there's still the fact you will be REFUNDED or given the option to sell your property to reacquire the money. I don't care about the money value since money is more-or-less an OOC entity in itself, considering weapons cost more than some starter cars. It's the fact you are holding onto things that don't make much sense to own from the get go.

  13. I appreciate your time to read and the support bro.
  14. Not true, I literally accepted somebody else's alternative to it just being drugs and weapons, since these are the main two offenders in character transfer. My aim isn't to ruin peoples grind, although I do believe way too much of the servers population treat this like an RPG, but to stop the immersion breaking and blatant OOC mind set of stockpiling weapons and drugs over characters that realistically would not have access to said resources.

  17. I appreciate the book you wrote to me in response but this sums up my original post. Apart from a few bad eggs the leadership of most gangs have done enough research to understand as much as you can about gangs without actually experiencing them first hand, some probably even have with living in LA etc. The depiction of gangs from leader ship stand points is a good as it's going to get and as good as its ever been and just because a few members of said factions (of which there's 100's, it's the most popular roleplay hands down) act anywhere from "need to do a slight bit more research" to "absolutely brain dead" it's the surface of a very developed concept. Most people who have an opinion on the gangs here, or an opinion on (M) roleplay have one or a couple of bad experiences. They don't even bother to browse the gang topics and look at their roleplay, let alone get involved themselves. They instead write a post on some discussion about how (M's) ruin their lives, when the reality is they bring some of the best quality roleplay to the server. Then they go back to running their business, owning their super car collection and browsing the marketplace for some new estate and act like they benefit the community any more than those (M) roleplayers they so hate. 🤷‍♂️
  18. This I could definitely settle for. The active effects of people stockpiling drugs and guns are seen more prominently. I'd say their property inv would have to go though ofcourse.
  19. This has been quoted so many times yet its the least valid argument. The state that stockpiling assets puts on the general immersion of the server is heavy. You'll be quick to complain about the exact same issues I've bought up when a 14 y/o char robs you with a gun on your civilian characters, you need to detach from the fictional currency that belongs to a fictional character. You'll be quick to put down minor roleplay and bash anything that isn't your avenue of roleplay, yet when someone who's in that genre of roleplay themselves gives you the reasoning, you shrug it off because you're attached to a fictional currency. The only preference I'm trying to push on you is a solid roleplay standard but you can't see past owning a virtual fortune in a fictional setting.
  20. That's a complete separate system. You use an in-game command to set that up, I'm talking about spending a name change on the UCP. It already is an option. I never take anything over characters, apart from vehicles as I'm just too lazy to get rid of them myself and I barely use them anyway. It ruins other peoples immersion though and it becomes a problem, you can refer to the points I made in my original post.
  21. Also valid, as long as it achieves a similar thing. I understand with all aspects that the players would want some kind of refund for the assets but it may be tricky to gauge with weapons. It's also tough trying to get your money back on the property too at a fair rate in such a short time. I think aslong as the player is showing that they're making an effort to remove their assets it should suffice.
