  1. ain't no one telling @Itz_Fritz he can't deploy a snake cam now, boys
  2. text rp is 100000% not a dying medium. gtaw is the single largest textrp community of all time, and it shows. its successful, and it wont die any time soon. gtaw is many things, but a quality roleplay server it is not. in a community which occasionally reaches 1000 concurrent payrers you cant expect everyone to be quality, but this server and its leadership has long since reached the point where they've realized quality control is a losing battle. what you see instead are three things: 1. second lifers living out their idealized (usually much more attractive) lives through an avatar, having lots of e sex and driving fast cars 2. children and NEETs enamored with the commodified rapper-criminal lifestyle who either ape shotcaller, blood in blood out, etc or their favorite rapper's biography 3. cop rejects and security guards living out their LARP fantasies in an LEO faction there are exceptions to these generalizations, but these groups are who the server primarily services because they're the most populous. the possibility that you will be allowed to do anything remotely imaginative or interesting on this server is effectively nill. this wasn't always the case, as back in the day realism took a back seat to narrative and fun (case in point with the fact we had LCN factions in LA), but with the population on the server grown as it has, this shit is now complete paint by numbers 'roleplay'. the only way to make a server like this run remotely well is to force everyone to fit an average. exceptions to the roleplay average, good or bad. this is a doom post, but i think you guys should stop kidding yourselves. this server is many great things, but if you want to play anything that isn't one of those three aforementioned things, ur in for a rude awakening. i also don't think you'll ever see any meaningful change come from these sorts of posts, regardless of what lip service we get in server update posts.
  3. Username: XxxCountQueefulaxxX Comment: this shit blows dick give up. in fact you should kill yourself.
  4. thanks random shill, but i made my bed and now im lying in it. i should not have been mean to ximena navarro/scute in faction chat.

  7. holy shit bungus you should totally write a screenplay, ernie's story so far has been nothing short of a odessy. honestly, probably the finest peice of western media in the 21st century.
  8. best post on this unbelievably shitty thread in a long time. keep it up, bigbunger
  9. half the reason crime is so easy to get away with (if you’re not caught red handed by pure luck) is halfways because no one wants to do paperwork on a role play server. never mind how much paperwork LEOs would have to do as a consequence of this, but you’d have to revamp the entire way businesses are operated. you’d generate shit tons of paperwork for business owners. IRS just write subpoenas all day and reviews bank records. there is no way a faction like this would survive more than two months.
  10. put the corruption perms in the fucking bag or get flattened by the jag
  11. Having been in SD for almost a year (I think?), I can say that no one moderates TS use. Metagame is rampant, there is no decorum, and from top to bottom channels are used to just chat, and sometimes worse. If your expectations of supervisors are to maintain decorum and prevent ppl from breaking the rules, no one is meeting them.
  12. +1 some of you retards can’t do pursuit call outs for shit
  13. Consider this a warning: this thread follows the story of a degenerate moron with a chemical interest. It will contain filth.
  14. Facial obstruction is a misdemeanour charge, and seeing someone masked and gloved is reasonably suspicious. In keeping with these rules, seeing someone masked and gloves is reason enough to remain in the area.
  15. There's some serious disconnect between the people here who have played as an LEO character and those that haven't. On average, I get into at least one shootout a day as a detective. Right now the gun market is completely oversaturated, and the current rules encourage people to shoot out rather than cuff up. I get into a shootout more often than I'm able to effect an arrest. That should speak volumes about the current state of the server, the priorities of I/LFM, and just how silly this rule is. If this rule were to actually be enforced, which I can confidently say it won't be, and if LEOs were actually going to abide by it, you'd legitimately the cop population drop by about half at any given time due purely to injury RP.
  16. REMEMBER: DO NOT.
  17. From the perspective of an investigative LEO, prison sentences are a joke. No one fears them unless they're caught on capital murder, and worse case scenario they can always PK out of the consequences. Case in point, the most recent high-risk warrant executed on a certain someone, who was wanted for shooting at and killing a cop. He was able to avoid consequences by, ironically, shooting at more cops and PKing out of the warrant. I'm not trying to call anyone out in specific, and nothing they did he was against the rules - this isn't a witch hunt. It is, however, very indicative of the sort of things which makes the server so surreal. Just the same, the consequences of losing a shootout and dying is that you lose a gun, and sometimes not even that - more often that not, a swarm of unarmed (M)s will descend upon the body of a fallen comrade and recreate a scene from Enemy at the Gates. If you win a shootout, even if grievously injured, all you have to do is AFK in a hospital for 5 minutes. Again, I'm not calling anyone out. None of this is against the rules. It's just how it is. If you want to actually fix some of these issues, I have a couple opinions: First, the penal code needs to be revamped. Discretion and fairness needs to be taken into account, as does realism. The current criminal points system is clunky at best. I've heard that something is already in the works, so maybe there's some improvement on the horizon. Second, the injury script needs to be revamped. Injuries need to be treated in game, and /changechar shouldn't remove them. If there were real consequences for getting shot, maybe people would take shootouts more seriously. LEOs are just if not more guilty of doing this than anyone else. Doing this wouldn't only decrease the number of inconsequential shootings, but it would also provide a great deal of roleplay for factions like PHMC, and even for off-the-books clinics. Third, CKs need to be handed out a bit more often. I said it. I've got no problem dying, I've got no problem holding the L, and I don't think most people have a problem with that either. CKs are important, because it's what allows for more fluidity within factions. It keeps things fresh, it lets people explore more concepts. That's my take, at least.
