  1. yeah cause part of me just has that feeling if its pushed criminals will just ck on robberies and the slightest challenge will still end up in a shooting ck drama fest. it'll cause a whole league of its own problems, although i get the idea of adding a great weight to death to make it very much a last resort.
  2. there are so so so many dead bodies im sorry, I'm not gonna react to each one. If you want death to carry weight, people need to stop having shootouts constantly. cant use the "realism" argument when the murder rate 10x's even what El Salvador could produce.
  3. Isn't it ironically the biggest part of hacking isn't done on a computer, its the social engineering involved to deliver your payload to the target. Either by using the old fashioned hi-vis tactic if your target is blue collar or adapting depending on target. Phishing links etc whilst "effective" they kinda aren't when you consider just the RAW amount have to be sent out to land a mark, but if your able to blag your way into a venue you get a direct way of getting your software on their pc's without immediately flagging the alarm bells like emails do.
  4. Username: D.A. Bordeaux Comment: She must be new to this city. The last election didn't see individual senators elected. Luca did not appear on the ballot. Instead a proportional system was used to allocate seats to the respective parties and placed responsibility on them. This system was deeply flawed and changed by the state government to fix issues like this. Hope that helps catch you up to speed Meyer.
  5. I was always under the impression those wanting to do schemes like this are a bit shit out of luck unless they know their stuff. Because Panda works cyber security and in the past he used to be involved in discussions related to these schemes. I distinctively remember an announcement about rping it in the past, and there have been some super successful schemes done by people who genuinely understand it all. I also think the realism aspect is important as a hacking scheme could be pretty fucking overpowered in a city of no ic tech support.
  6. Username: TheDatawarsInitative Comment; Fuckin lizards! The government is a lie! They try to control us all with their theta waves and chem trails! Just look at this walking Challenger space shuttle, explosively shedding it's winter skin.
  7. Name A_Tired_Citizen Comment: Fate doesn't exist nor could it ever be sealed if it was. By that very definition you are ascertaining a fixed outcome, eliminating at will all other variables that may influence an outcome. Say for instance I state that all life in Los Santos will die from global warming in 3133 and that is a sealed fate? That's great and all, but what if a big steamy meteor decides its time to mess with those arrogant apes the same way it did with the dinosaurs? Well that sealed fate of humanity dying to global warming on that date can't possibly occur because the big sexy meteor did the job first.
  8. Name: A_Tired_Citizen Comment: Great, whilst violent murders occur on the streets of LS and rampant home invasions occur like rats spreading a plague unchecked. Instead I can indeed sleep safe knowing that due to the federal governments decision to withhold highway money from states, our country has a completely skewed legal drinking age of 21 whilst it sends teens off to die in illegal wars of aggression from aged 16. Nice to see the LSSD upholding this ecosystem of exponential ratfuckery.
  9. Hehehe. It's almost like the radicalization of America, the second amendment right and the right to defend property in any way required is leading to more situations of companies having to adapt tactics to meet demand of the common folk. Whilst I'm no stranger to moaning about private security, in this situation and recently all situations I've observed have been reasonable in nature. And so on this day it is written, thy took an L. (for legal reasons that's a joke).
  10. No no no no please dear God no. Savings work amazing irl, they break the value of money in a video game. I'll forever support never including them. If you wanna know why they're a bad idea, on an un named server, thanks to savings, a player reached 4 billion dollars ic. Enough to buy the entire server out ic and then some over. And that wasn't even a freak example.

    Income Tax

TAX exempt factions ye get capped. Even at a leadership level there is also a max any faction can set their wages to be also. Factions with different pay systems have different tweaks to balance it out. But put it this way, if I played four hours, I'd get 16k added to what I can get at the end of the week. My mechanic char a few months back was making nearer to 100-200k an HOUR for business income. People think legal factions spit out a lotta money into the server, but most long term legal faction members are the opposite, its just money horded as a lil green figure on the screen out of lack of ability or desire to spend it on things. I remember compiling a spreadsheet years ago looking at ways to tweak the economy and seeing where the most piles of cash were (2018) and PD back then by far ruled the charts with like 10 ppl over 1m in the bank, but it became increasingly clear those 10 people were never gonna spend any significant amount of that as their chars couldn't justify it. Your "tax" dollars are also literally the thing that funds those factions. FM and the govs hate having money spawned in, so they've tried to create a closed system where only rarely new money is injected afaik?
  12. or idk, you could simply appreciate the fact we have a social media website for our characters to use and interact on? I get its slow, I get its frustrating but you get to use it for free, spam generally whatever you want. Ik people have their own thoughts on the concept but lets just learn to appreciate it for what it is and just regularly clear out old stuff. No real need to see things from one-two years ago.
  13. easy, shits expensive yo. you seem to believe the price is dictated by traffic, with social media templates its not at all. Tracebook (the SAMP version) was fucking cripplingly expensive to operate, I think FB is in the same boat hence why it has ads and far more donator functions to help cover part of the costs. Unless you feel like forking up the multiple thousand to update the package used, get used to semi regular wipes of old content. idm its slow, its a pain but its better than it not existing.
  14. I dont know if this is still actively the case, but when I was in PD '18-'19 we were told to go easy with our evidence collection and general detective duties. Since half the factions on the server would have enough evidence on them within weeks to have all the characters jailed and the faction shut down.
  15. oh i have an idea. if people wanna roam to rob, allow neighbourhoods to actually react to increasing crime IC by installing gates and fences. I have no issues to let people roam again, provided you allow players to RP adapting to the crime wave and allow us to install gates onto drive ways and such. This is partially sarcastic to show people that hey, ik it sucks but what sucks worse is being unable to adapt barriers into properties to react to the 10x crime rate compared to LA. And that right there is the compromise IFM/Management made. It'd be faaar to overpowered to install even a single gate into some properties as it would create narrow long paths perfect for shooting/trapping people. Which would instantly get a topic about being overpowered and should be against the rules.
  16. Also I'm almost certain premeditated robberies can happen across the city, just not out in the state if you live in LS. Its random drive up robberies taking chance which are clamped down on. Premeditated ones you just get admin permission by explaining your plan, methods and justification for why that area/target.
  17. I think the problem here is people don't see both sides here. Limitations are not just made arbitrarily, it was done so as a way to partially limit people running up to the hills as their own atm, or Davis folk patrolling sandy shores for people alone. When looking at a rule you need to look at the situations worst case scenario and compare it to the people it applies too. It happened a lot where people were out in sandy, and I can absolutely 100% be certain that every gang on the server would make Richman and vinewood a target. Assuming each faction has 2-3 robbery sub crews, thats like 100 crews running around who would all flock to the hills each night. Now imagine yourself in the shoes of those there. Alarms which would be ringing constantly, and a situation that if it happened irl, would instantly see a massive ass gate installed. But to prevent either scenario, the rules were made as such. Hope that clarifies some of the insight behind it. Tldr when people can't self moderate to keep a realistic balance, rules come in.

    State of Drugs

Actually most legal rp'ers physically can't because consumption of Marijuana would fall under a crime, thus corruption rules and a fair few legal factions on the government side have 0 budge for corruption rules. Hence my comment to introduce legal rp'ers to "the dark" side via medical conditions that'd warrant it. My char's 50 and riddled with arthritis, I want to rp around drugs without losing my job due to corruption rules.

    State of Drugs

Aaahhh.. I can't.... resist...fuck. Right, I've always had the train of thought that at least for soft-core drugs, a medical system would genuinely attract more roleplay around drugs. Not only can gangs siphon off safely grown product, but faking prescription cards with their street baggies etc. I know there are pros and cons to that idea, and its marijuana limited but its been the same issue since 2017 on how to bring more rp around drugs and drug usage. I believe its insanity to try slightly different forms of the same idea, when a radical change could be attempted then reverted if it proves to be disastrous. I think once that barrier is broken by blending the line on softer drugs, exposure to figures in that scene may then increase uptake of the other drugs as they'd essentially be on offer too.
  20. Again though, that's balance. A lot of things happen to hinder other groups to protect others. The marijuana veto was to protect illegal factions from implications of it. I'm not saying your wrong at all, I've been on both ends of the frustration and I get it. But ultimately it depends on whomever is management at the time and their views on how best to balance features, rules and player experience. p.s, gib medical marijuana. its been 2 years and a drug update later :<
  21. brother, if i was a cop irl and saw a car four deep wearing some kind of face mask? of course im calling for backup and getting tense. who drives with a mask on lmao. again, cops do that irl. there's a case of a texas dude just pulling over people, getting them to be honest then using that to seize everything they have for his own use. You have others planting evidence to arrest people on "moral corruption". A belief so firm that someone is guilty, you create the environment for them to be guilty. I feel like you'd have an easier time processing the idea that cops irl aren't generally great. From every western country you have deep violence, abuse and systems designed to fuck with minority groups or political groups. You can argue semantics of "this is wrong" or "this is right" when ultimately the statement should be, "this shits illegal, not unrealistic". tldr, you can't cure a gunshot wound with antibiotics. you need to address the issue as it stands properly before you can think of the right solutions.
