Disallow entry fees for casinos.

Generally speaking,, blackjack is profitable for casinos, but there are nights where you can lose hundreds of thousands, or even millions, depending on what the stakes of the table are.  When I ran the Royal Rebel,  we had some nights back in the middle of 2022 where we lost $2 million or more at a table with a 50k maximum bet.

This means that unless you have a major amount saved up in reserves,  you could be forced to pay for staff, security, bartenders, blackjack dealers, out of pocket.

In terms of the entry fee situation,  I still think that I believe it's an In-Character issue rather than something that should be added to the server rules.  I think the In-Character politicians should be looking at this issue and proposing updates to the Gaming Act (Law) in regards to entry fees at casinos specifically.  Why does it make sense?

#1 - Politicians would have some roleplay that would not otherwise exist in regards to voting on the Gaming Act.

#2 - Casino owners would still have the ability to make decisions regarding fees at their establishment.

#3 - Investigative and detective roleplay from certain divisions in Law Enforcement could have a part in ensuring that casinos are not violating these plausible laws.

There are other players that may have portrayed a casino owner or manager that could have good ideas, but  I think that changing the In-Character laws could be the best solution rather than having it be server-wide rule.

this is a cool workaround

Honestly, I'm hoping this goes through so that casinos can start charging membership fees. It'll filter out the troublemakers twice as efficiently, as the requirements for membership are typically a little bit higher than a simple ID check and cash up front. Gone will be the days of slipping in on a well-made fake ID and causing trouble once inside, with membership access giving casino security the right to do things like checking the ID against government databases, which can't be fabricated.

Let's do this! Let's make this happen!

It does seem silly for casinos to have entry fees, but ultimately, it is a decision that the casino owner can make. You, as the visitor, have the power of choosing not to pay the fee and taking your business elsewhere if you want to. The entry fees are usually quite moderate, and considering the MINIMUM fee for most blackjack tables is 1000$, a 500$ entry fee probably won't hurt that much. It only becomes a problem imo when casinos charge 2.5k - 3.5k entry fee like the Swallow used to do. Then it becomes a full on extortion attempt - but still, the way my character (and a LOT of others) dealt with it was by simply complaining about it ICly and refusing to pay.

Ultimately it hurts their business, and stops people from coming to gamble entirely.Their loss, a potential customer wasted! It's simply business suicide.

This is entirely IC in my opinion. If a Casino is charging an entry fee and you don't agree with paying it, then you can simply not pay it and go elsewhere. I don't think the way to go about this is through a rule change, but instead it should be handled IC.

I have to agree with the others, this is more of an IC thing and should be addressed as such. If a business wants to charge an entrance fee then they should be allowed to do so, you are not forced to pay it. From what I've witnessed the money gained from entrance fees is generally used to pay for staff.

An entry fee like this is IC. If it was something scripted I'd understand.

I could put a $500 entry fee on my business too. That's my own business suicide, PM doesn't need to be involved.

You can't say " This is IC " when there's a monopoly going on. Attitudes like this is how you end up with American Healthcare where people go bankrupt after one hospital trip.

Just like the government should've intervened when the medical system collectively raised prices to ridiculous levels, it's the admins' job to interfere OOC when IC things get stupid.
