Forbidden words on /ad(/cad):

Recommended Posts

Detailed Description: It's quite often that we see ads that should not be there, based on the rules. From escort ads to whatever you may think of. I'm thinking that there can be a script against it, just like Discord chat works - whenever someone adds the forbidden words, the ad cannot be posted (escort, job, work, etc.) - this will clear the ads section and will force the people abusing it to use the right way, on the forums.

How will it benefit the server?

Less /ads, less spam, less useless ads that are not realistic in any way.

I agree, let's go one step further - you cannot say naughty words in character, too. Yesterday someone called me a "fuckhead" IC and I was deeply upset and offended OOC, so I believe this would stop my fragile feelings from being hurt. I am all for more censorship! I want GTAW to become a safespace for cute and cuddly people UWU!

That's not the point I make here, I understand your sarcasm but:

I'm talking about this list and how half of these are usually seen in game when shouldn't, and I doubt the staff would do anything giving the fact that there's a huge number of these. It's not about restrictions and 'UWU', it's about the fact that they don't even try to portray anything realistic and use the ad system for stuff that shouldn't be there.

most of these kind of adverts are banned in real life too, yet you can still find them pretty easy. i can find machetes for sale on ebay where i live, for example. live and let live, theyre just adverts. i dont even see any adverts unless i type /ads anyway, so if they bother you so much just disable them from spamming chat. live and let live

Then people will just use different words to bypass it. Waste of time.

Exactly this, or characters to spell it out differently.

No need to restrict something that's IC, if there's any issues which break OOC rules the staff team 100% of the time will punish the player and remove the advertisement / purge the chat.

Unfortunately I get the same answer every time when I ask about this issue. People toggle off ads in chat (including admins) and thus these ads literally slide by without being seen. Unless they are checking /ads every so often, these ads are just getting by without rules being enforced simply because they aren't being seen in the regular chat box on staff who have toggled them off.

Escorting is a legal job, prostitution isn't. You don't know which one the ad is actually for without reporting or having an admin look into it.

Censoring ads including the words "job" & "work" will also probably censor ads run by businesses who are HIRING instead.
