Opinions on casinos?

Recommended Posts

I've recently opened the opened business list, to see 7 businesses open, of which 3, were casinos. ( Long Haul, Swallow Lounge & Casino, Rounders Club. )

Do people actually like casinos that much for there to be so many of them?

I personally dislike casinos, and I wish it'd be like the old days where we had 1-3 casinos across the whole city instead of a casino on every corner like a liquor store.

I strongly believe that if we changed most of these unnecessary casinos with unique businesses, we'd have more overall roleplay across the server.

What are YOUR thoughts on casinos?

Stricter realism within Casinos is all I ask for. Enforce "max bet caps" and make sure that people enter a table with the appropriate amount of chips.

Why do PRIVATE poker games have higher standards than legitimate casinos, in the first place? I'd rather attend Don Spaghetti's apartment poker game than a casinos due to it's realism. Don Spaghetti says $20,000 is the table limit? Everyone shows up at the table with $20,000. A state-sanctioned casino, on the other hand? Nothing's enforced.

This is very true. Stricter realism AND more roleplay should be in place. People just sit down and treat it like a money grinding job. Don Spaghetti should have a word with the casino owners.

Different businesses will attract different people. Italians in one, Albanians in the next, off duty cops for the third. W/e. It's nice to be able to pick and choose instead of settling for something out of your characters comfort zone. I think it varies whether or not people acrually roleplay their poker or blackjack games too and I guess I'd like more consistency there.

PM & LFM don't give gambling licenses or gambling establishments out so no idea where these are coming from. We're trying to limit casinos to 2.

Feel free to check the #ic-business-ad channel in discord and CTRL+F "Casino" or "Gambling". The 3 I've named in the post above only form a small percentage of the casinos all around the city. Please look into it.

Not a great idea, when said casinos come out they'll be FLOODED with a hundred people and no one can prepare for that.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a great situation but it's much better then it was a few months back when every bar and night club had a poker table in the corner.

This is something that needs to be implemented ASAP just to raise the bar. Some casino's do a pretty good job of emulating the casino experience but a lot of them are just low tier gambling dens that turn a quick buck. Casino's bring in HUGE profits over time, I've heard somewhere between 500k - 1 million an opening. There is no reason that money can't be reinvested into the business to expand gambling options and staffing.
