More Active Crime Journalism

Media groups IRL are often referred as "The 4th branch of the government". Meaning they hold power. From my experience as a TV/News Director IRL, when violence happened to one of our journalists, our whole staff used all the rescources at hand to make that group of people who hurt our journalist be the center of the attention, but a bad type of attention. Their protests died down, they were invalidaded as a group, and frowned upon by the society.

What I want to say with this is that, if a bunch of gang bangers and mafia decide to kill journalists for writing an article, they better be ready for having all eyes on them, for they recieve an attention that might even shut down their faction. Killing a journalist for writing article? Might as well shut down the faction yourself.

Also this.

Is there any way we make it more "in game" rather than on forums?  Like a news app on the phone, similar to taxi app.  You click on it and get like 4 or 5 articles to click and read.  Maybe an ingame notification when a new article is posted to read.  I think characters would love reading the news at moments when they're bored.

It also concerns me that community members have stated that they have previously reached out to LSNN and attempted to generate some roleplay but were either turned away or ignored. While I am unsure of the specifics, I can assure you that we will be opening up several avenues for community members to engage with us and create roleplay under our leadership. As I have stated prior, we already have several ideas in the pipeline.

I reached out to LSNN a while back offering to be a legal consultant, but like you mentioned, I was turned away.

Budget concerns were the reason cited - but if LSNN is coming back in force, I'd still be happy to do it.

The problem with the old LSNN was that there was barely any financial backing and limited sources of money. Our new management have several ideas to bring a steady stream of revenue into the faction, one of which has already been approved by server management and will be launching soon! Once we have a stable cashflow, we will be able to open up a wider variety of roles to the community.

Essentially, I will message you as soon as we can afford to finance you! 😆

Actual journalism is something that I feel SAN lacks, while your stories aren't terrible, they often lack a lot of depth. Most journalists often have contacts everywhere, from big corporations to politicians and so on. I also feel like politics is going to be a topic that will be good to report on.  The news just seems to cover live tragedies rather than real journalism. Make some real talk shows and forbid idiots from coming on there.

I want to give this a bump. Because I know there's a not insignificant number of people who are drawn to journalism and have struggled in the past with joining organizations that eventually ended up not being able to produce enough content.

However, about a month ago, the LSPD posted a number of listings for civilian employments, some old and some new ones. And one of the new ones was a position called Public Relations Specialists

I wanted to go ahead and encourage people who are (still) interested in a career in journalism to give the LSPD Forums a look if you are someone who'd like to be writing articles on behalf of the LSPD. We're happy to have you!
