Medical fees with hospital care

Oh boy, this discussion again.

I can see it now - gangbangers and mugging victims suddenly being experienced enough to field dress their own injuries and roll with the punches, while visiting some vague nameless location for treatment that is strictly far and away from any player run hospitals.

Like mandatory eating, people will find the necessary means to bypass a medical bill or game it to the best of their ability to avoid the ooc mechanic while heavily and negatively impacting the IC interactions.

Prioritize the roleplay first, and the scripted money last.

EDIT: To clarify, back in the old TSRP days, mappers often included hospitals for roleplay, as being injured in shootouts was fairly commonplace. Even with legitimate hospital jobs coded in with access to a literally free and infinite supply of medical equipment (drugs included), the only time hospital roleplay ever occurred was when it was free.

On every single occasion in which a fee was attached to being treated for injuries, people simply never went to the hospital. It made the hospital in each server a derelict place with a most unnatural yet devastating singularity - nobody would go to the hospital, so nobody would work at the hospital, meaning the people who DID want to go, ultimately could not, because nobody worked at the hospital, because nobody would ever go to the hospital, because nobody worked at the hospital, because nobody would ever go to the hospital....

Hospital roleplay is already a slowly growing and fledgling interaction that most consider niche, but with extraordinary potential to work if properly organized. Reducing the barriers to entry for medical roleplay is a critical step to cement lasting interest, and money is a massivemassive barrier to entry. Do not kill good roleplay opportunities by demanding people pay you for roleplay in a roleplay server.

I suddenly have the interest to become a shareholder for health coverage insurance...

I was actually thinking of doing that but really, no one would pay for it. As someone was saying, people are just going to become surgeons and treat their gun-shot wounds instead of goign to a hospital and paying.
