Listen, if someone changes their bits between partners, and has the GALL to pick a small size for me!?!? I have a RIGHT to be mad.

Jokes aside, the only illegal faction I've had great encounters with so far are bikers. Like, they actually go to the hospital to RP injuries. I have a rivalry with some, friendship with others, and every time I see them I just kinda wish the other factions were like them. Hang out in Davis for 20 minutes and see how many times you're RDM'd.

well, dont hang out in davis as a legal char when theres like 50 factions beefing with each other in the same housing complex if you dont want people to treat you like dookie

Never been randomly deathmatched once in davis. Just shut this nonsense down already.

This is more of an issue with the community at large, legal or illegal: there are a lot of judgmental assholes who want to assure themselves that their RP is better and cooler than everyone else's RP. As long as people are following the rules and portraying their characters well, there's no need to shit talk them for liking things you don't like.

yeah it exists among LEOs quite frequently. it really doesn't matter what side you're on or what faction you're in, one or more people there are a judgemental dickhead that'll try to stuff their belief of good rp down your throat

It's not a stigma against anybody or any group in specific, it's a community issue. Everybody is mad at everybody that isn't in their immediate circle and it's fucking bizarre. A ridiculous amount of toxicity has been allowed to fester because GTA RP has just always been like that and now we're stuck with the same old idiotic tribalism.

I will agree that MCs tend to have some very solid RP. However, I have a character in Davis and honestly..- she is a local. Not in a faction, in a relationship, struggling with different things in her life as well as owning a business. I have been killed once in Davis in 6 months. I have been alone, with a group of people, and so on. Honestly, I have more issues outside of Davis than I do in Davis.

I would like to say that if you have a problem with a certain faction, be a solution and speak up. A faction is only as good as their leader. If you have a leader who isn't setting the expectations for their faction, then of course you are just going to end up with a bunch of DMers and Trolls. I know a couple factions that are not MCs and they have very high standards to even get into the faction, including RP and having passive RP outside of the faction instead of just being around the faction the whole time. If all factions ran like these and they set that as the standard of Factions...this would be a better world for Illegal people interacting with Legal/local RPers.

I also think I was listening to the streamer you were speaking of. Legal RP is fun for some and not for other. Just like Cop RP might be fun for some but not for others. Just let people RP whatever they want to RP.  Mallrat, gangster, student, cop, doctor, etc. At the end of the day as long as rules aren't being broken let people do what they feel is fun RP. We are not here to judge what other find fun. If people keep their opinions to themselves about what they find fun and what they don't and just only worry about rule breaks this server would be better. Also there should be a higher standard for ALL factions both Legal and Illegal. Not saying they shouldn't be new to RP friendly, but there are still standards that leaders of factions she be required to push.

Thanks for the post, I'm sure it will get locked cause people are keyboard warriors and don't like healthy debate.

Tribalism has been increasingly becoming an issue, I've noticed. Not just in this server, but in the world as a whole.

I've only noticed the legal RP stigmatism because my friends tend to be a mixture of legal RPers and certain factionless illegal RPers, so I can hear their opinions about some of the people my characters hang out with.

I have noticed everyone hates skinhead RPers, but usually that's because skinhead RPers tend to have a very trolly playstyle, and make a lot of noise OOCly. My own experiences with them have validated their claims, but again I could be biased because its not like I would have had many encounters with the serious RPers in that group.

Looking back at it, there was a huge brawl in Davis yesterday between two factions, and it looks like both groups broke a bunch of rules. Fights between gangs is common, but when its spilling into OOC and there's less sportsmanship about it, it can be an issue.

As many people said, It isn't just a "Legal" Issue, but since this is the topic of the thread I can name some reasons as to why legal RP might have such a stigma.

You have legal characters that work as a bartender but drive a $250k car, and live in a pent-house.
You have legal characters that are purely made for ERP.
You have legal characters that are just escorts, that end up namechanging after farming a few millions.
You have legal characters that just roleplay like robots.

Legal RP is fun and there's people that do it right, and are fun to roleplay around, but Legal RP is just mostly filled with people that RP the stuff I said above.

But this has been the case since LSRP days, and most likely won't ever change and honestly all you can do is just play around it and keep a small circle of good roleplayers that know what they are doing.

Illegal RP has the same issues though, with the (M)'s that are made purely for DM, the nooby characters, etc etc.

I think this post is made purely based on the fact you're newer to the server — potentially a little naive to how things actually are. Also, based on the fact you've had a report that didn't go in your favor verses illegal roleplayers explains the accusation of "bias" against admins. I'm not entirely sure where you got the idea that admins are made up half by illegal faction management, cause they are not.

I'm not here to flame cause I can understand your frustration, when I was relatively new to the server I felt the same way and had the same complaints. I barely touch the illegal scene but I've also come to learn something; the inbalance you're speaking of isn't actually true. There are plenty of admins who do nothing but legal roleplay including senior admins, the hate isn't one-sided either. I've seen over the years plenty of shade against illegal roleplayers and have you seen how many memes there are about (M) characters? Some justified but nonetheless (M) characters are majority illegal and they get a lot of flack. So this isn't a one-sided stigma against legal roleplayers on the server.

My advice—not because I'm any better but genuine advice for enjoying the server is to just stop adding fuel to the fire of illegal vs legal arguments, it was mentioned early into this thread that the argument is time-sink and is just going to sap your energy to argue all day, you're just perpetuating the stereotype of legals complaining and being upset about everything. Roleplay, enjoy the game—find things you enjoy and people you enjoy roleplaying with instead of caring what others think about your roleplay.
