Agreed. Having been a victim of this, honestly, it fucking sucks. I'm not disagreeing with the obvious fact that inactive players could potentially hog up resources (properties), but just pulling the rug from under people that might have just had life happen or who knows what is wrong. And I also disagree with the notion that players should have to put forward some type of leave of absence REQUEST to take a break from the server for any reason.

I'm actually a big supporter of not having crime-free zones. But that wasn't the topic here.

Barbed wire fences that literally anyone can drive into. An open fence is no more a security measure than a single strand of barbed wire. I understand it gives the PHYSICAL expectation of security, but this is an issue that can be completely resolved IC'ly. Any issue that can be resolved in it's entirety through IC measures, should be.

Just to play devil's advocate here; the danger in imposing a blanket rule like this, as opposed to the way business is currently handled is that it forces other players to RP inside set parameters. Maybe that 17 year-old uneducated gang banger WOULD shoot someone over something trivial. Allowing admins and players to have their inputs on why they made the decisions that they did for their characters is paramount in allowing a certain degree of freedom in roleplaying, while giving admins the ability to mitigate what is for lack of a better term shitty excuses.

The idea of magically imposing invisible, impenetrable guards at locations seems like a horrible stepping stone. The reality is, and I'm not making a claim they're not, if the LSPD is doing their job and sees frequent robberies happening around those locations then they should up their patrols in those locations. If you've been robbed several times at the same location by the same or different individuals, it seems very non-RP for you to keep returning, especially considering that your life could be on the line.

Isn't banning using voice communications for other-than-LSPD factions, or anyone for that matter along the same lines as prohibition? You don't expect people to actually follow that do you? This is a text based RP server. If for whatever reason I need to provide video evidence of anything, and it includes audio of me, metagaming or otherwise, using voice communications with other people I'd just mute the video. Making this against the rules does nothing to actually stop it from happening anyway. (editing after the original post because inevitably someone will say "no rule prevents someone from breaking rules, so why have rules /s" or whatever else. The point here is that people in VC together 99.99% of the time aren't going to snitch on each other because they're clearly friends outside the game, hence them hanging out) Hanging out and bullshitting with your friends in TS or Discord while you RP is pretty much expected, and it should also be reasonably expected that what is going on in-game will bleed over into that conversation. And just to kind of sum all this up into two simple points 1) with modern communications equipment it is reasonably expected that someone could have someone on speaker while they're driving, or hell even have a bluetooth connected phone to their car, etc. ( i saw someone earlier said "oh what gangs have radios in their cars? lololo") 2) the rule is a formality in the first place that most people ignore completely
