  1. I spawned near this Suburban after a long time of not playing a character and somehow my clothing got screwed, so I went inside to change my outfit and because the business is out of components - I can't do that. I know it makes sense, somewhat, to not allow people to change clothes in clothes stores that are out of stock - but because this isn't the first and I bet isn't the last time, I don't see harm in letting people change as long as they don't buy new clothes, as it fixes the no-legs or no-torso glitches - it's an OOC issue. Or allow us to use /outfit in clothing stores. PS: Second clothing store was closed, third one is also out of components.
  2. Only problem I see with this is - I personally don't know if GTA W has a system for changing your character's age. I like to occassionally time-skip, and even though I haven't made underage characters after I stopped being underage myself - others who do create underage characters may want to roleplay them growing up into a full adult, but not nessesarily spend years on this development. Time-skipping is a thing that has been an acceptable way to roleplay, prime example being with prison sentences, so if this is implemented - people should be allowed to change their age. Maybe limit it so they can only change their age up, unless they are name-changing - to avoid teens cranking up their age just to buff their damage temporarily.
  3. THANK YOU This explains everything, I forgot that GTA W actually segregates by gender which is I believe first heard of in history of roleplay servers, and I applaud this. Also thanks to everyone mentioning /fixinvi, hope RAGE will be more stable in the future so we don't need to use these commands.
  4. I know this, thank you. I'm talking more about the jail RP, but now I learned about the dedicated discord.
  5. EDIT: It seems that the reason I'm experiencing this may be due to a bug that keeps the cell door locked according to some replies, take this recollection with more skepticism than usual. Right now the judicial system of GTA World is very impressive - it sets a high mark for itself that is, it allows everyone to exercise their right to have a fair(ish - considering we don't have jurors yet) trial. That's all great and all, but people who will feel most advantage of this system are anyone who was arrested and pled "not guilty." And that's not what I wanted to focus on, because even with this interesting and involved judicial system in place - I find the prison experience lacking in both roleplay and entertainment. To my understanding there isn't currently a dedicated Correctional Officer organization and that duty was sub-let to the Sheriff's Department, which would be fine if it didn't mean that "prison roleplay" on GTA World mainly means being locked in a tiny room with no ability to ever interact with fellow inmates, or use the facilities specifically built for this roleplay. And before you say "don't do the crime if you don't do the time" - in real life prisons most inmates, unless locked in solitary, actually get to see and interact with other inmates at, at least, some point during their stay. I haven't seen the doors unlocked in a long time. And before anyone says that until there's a dedicated CO faction we can't have inmates roaming around without guards - this is a roleplay server, have a little faith. There is a good reason cops don't have the script-wise ability to drag people around: it's because they're expected to roleplay it themselves. And if they're incapable of roleplaying realistically, that can be handled via report section. Basically what I'm bitching about is - don't keep the inmates locked in 24/7. Yes, I know they do this in real life and I also think that's inhumane, but who seriously wants to come into a game to sit in a room and do nothing? "Oh, but don't do the crime then!" - I consider this a flawed logic in this instance. A waste of time is a real punishment, in fact - it is the exact punishment prison and jail achieves, among other things, in real life. When you are imprisoned in real life, your time is wasted and there's little to nothing you can do. However, let's ask ourselves the important question - when a player joins GTA W to do nothing but sit in a cell by themselves with 0 ability to interact with anyone - is this meant to be an in-character or an out-of-character punishment? Funnily enough, I was recently "admin-jailed"(not sure if this is a thing on GTA W, I hope not) in a SAMP RP server, though it was overturned. Reason I bring it up is I see no difference between serving an admin-jail and roleplaying a character in jail in GTA W at this point, when the doors are locked (which is all the time in my experience). Just unlock the damn cell doors, let people interact with each other. If rule breaking occurs, well - that's what reporting channels are for.

    ROE Q/A

Are the CK war rules still active given that there's a reply in the thread that says it's outdated?
  7. I constantly have to think about how my actions are perceived by the admins, even if they aren't rule-breaking.
  8. Absolutely agree with this. Some people like guns, some people hate guns. I personally hate when a platform for storytelling, roleplay, is trying to be limited arbitrarily by people who have a different opinion. No one is forcing you to get a gun, don't get one - that's fine. If someone else gets a gun, because they are scared for their lives, because they like guns, or just because they feel like it, try reporting them to an admin for rule-breaking and see if you will be taken seriously.
  9. Published on 27th April 2021 by Michelle Jefferson on behalf of Independent News Media Warning! This news segment contains censored graphic content. Last Saturday at around 1:38 AM, I spotted a huge group of law enforcement officers surrounding a property. There were also several people detained and a body bag laying on the street. I began recording when I was accosted by Deputy Nguyen, identification number 57530, who became immediately hostile to me - telling me to move along when I was far enough away that I couldn't possibly be interfering with them. Thankfully, after I asked for her to provide her badge number, she left me alone. If you're curious about our entire interaction, I've linked a separate clip here: link to video of conversation with rude LEO After some time, bikers began rolling through the area and over sidewalks, they were definitely interfering and almost contaminating the crime scene. Eventually, law-enforcement officers on scene have had enough and one decided to deploy a taser on one of the bikers. However, after the biker had fallen, he pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and returned fire on officers. He successfully struck one of the officers, the other two in immediate vicinity immediately opened fire on the biker - striking him several dozen times, even after he completely stops moving. As the shooter had struck one of the officers, they went unconscious. INM was unable to attain an update on his condition.
  10. I avoid rolling, I'd be very annoyed if my shootout opponent did it to win the gun-fight as it does indeed feel very unrealistic to do a roll, especially if they do multiple rolls, perfectly executed whilst being shot at. I just wish GTA V had a way to simply crouch without having to type out a very long animation, and being able to walk around crouched, as you're not always next to the cover you want to use to hide behind. I think if crouching was somehow implemented, perhaps people will be less upset once rolling is removed. Because yes, rolling does need to go. Or at the very least, abuse of rolling during a gun-fight should be considered powergaming.
  11. Listen, be real. No one goes on forum to check the ads. /cad is the only option for anyone looking to actually find a lot of people and advertise my business. Now, not every business is a physical building, scripted and otherwise. Many businesses operate without a main building, without a script for them, they provide other services or they can also resell goods. Some of them may be licensed, some of them may be not - an advertising company usually doesn't check that and will put up anything that isn't vulgar on their billboards and site ads for money. I understand it can be a little annoying seeing irrelevant ads, so if you want - you can disable ads by typing /togad which is what I usually do during RP anyway. But, all businesses should be allowed to use /cad, regardless of if they're scripted businesses or just roleplayed businesses - roleplay trumps script every time.
  12. Personally, I have always been against forced permanent character kills. In my opinion, and experience on other roleplay servers where this rule is enforced, you end up creating more and more characters - and with quantity, quality of each character and their story declines, simply because I don't have unlimited resources (time and motivation) to create a new character after every death, regardless how non-sense it was. As was already mentioned, there is apparently a rule already in place for those deemed to be "reckless with their lives" by admins, however they decide that. Personally, I'm against any kind of clauses that force a CK, because of aforementioned point I made. And as a deterrent, I wanna create a comparison with real-life punishments that exist as deterrents, mainly the death penalty in US. According to https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/: You may ask why that is? Well, imagine yourself for a moment in shoes of someone who believes they committed a crime that warrants the death penalty. What do they have left to lose? Nothing. So, they will fight as hard as they can, as they have no reason to surrender - they'll be killed either way. This is why, in my opinion, we see that death penalty does not necessarily deter crime and may even sometimes encourage more crime. Similarly, if a player believes their character has already acted in a way that admins would deem to be "reckless," they understand that they are at risk of losing their character upon death. In a way, yes - that puts stress and more value on them preserving their life and trying to get out of the situation they created out alive. However, on the other side of the coin, there will be many situations where admins will deem a simple act of escalation, or a situation they don't fully understand, as a "reckless act" and force a death on a character. Not to mention, players knowing that they will be given no choice but to character-kill if admins deem their actions to be "reckless," they have no reason to hold anything back - and they will take any opportunity given to them to fight anything and anyone even vaguely threatening them under the guise of being paranoid, resulting in more violence than if they are simply allowed to lose. And that's what it all comes down to - allow people to lose without losing their entire character. Don't create arbitrary rules where unaware players don't think about how their actions may be perceived by admins, where there can be a misunderstanding. Roleplay stories always require full context to understand, admins don't have resources to scan through all the context every scene so they often make assumptions, and sometimes those assumptions are incorrect and result in false bans or jails, even without any malice on administrator's part - no one is perfect. I can handle a false admin jail, I can handle a false ban. I don't think I could take having my character forcefully CKed for seemingly no reason because an admin deemed my actions to be "reckless" without given context to the situation. I am strongly against any kind of forced CKs for these reasons. If you do end up going through them, ensure there is a proper channel to appeal all character kills that doesn't include microtransactions, otherwise people will quickly and very justifiably get pissed off.
  13. To be honest I don't mind taking this up as an IC issue and assembling peaceful protests infront of the City Hall and whatnot.
  14. My bad, I already fixed the original post. Still my point about taxing one business more than another stands: prices don't make sense from a realistic point of view. Why is Tobacco license so (relative to other licenses) cheap when California and many similar metropolitan areas across US tax Tobacco pretty heavily. Why is adult entertainment license so expensive?
  15. Businesses are the barebones of roleplay. I don't see the need to tax some businesses more than others, other than Alcohol and Tobacco because those taxes do actually exist.

  17. Sandy Shores Tuesday, ‎January ‎26, ‎2021 at roughly 10 PM, the correspondent of Independent News Media was journalizing the aftermath of a G6 protests, collecting interviews from multiple witnesses who claim that G6 provoked the protesters and that the Sheriff's Department used tear-gas to disperse an allegedly peaceful protest. In America, whether you're a citizen or not, you have the right to assemble and make your voice heard as long as it is peaceful. If multiple allegations from witnesses are to be believed, the Sheriff's Department had violated the people's first amendment right of the United States Constitution. During one of the interviews, a man previously seen upset with the presence of news coverage, is seen getting off a motorcycle and sprinting directly towards the camera, presumably to attack. The corresponded, who was filming at the time, then dashed off and sprinted for their life until the interviewee rescued her. The corresponded plans to make a police report about the incident, at the time the identity of the attacker is unconfirmed, so are his affiliations with either the G6 or the Sheriff's department. Michelle Jefferson, Independent News Media. Stay safe.
  18. I have a feeling that this will lead to a lot less medical roleplay due to the fact that it's more expensive, and instead most people will just powergame their injuries being much less severe than they would otherwise to avoid having to call an ambulance. And before you say "oh then just report them," we're not discussing an obvious rule breaking - it's very easy to get away with not roleplaying injuries well, because to prove that there was a serious injury - one would have to have video footage of the incident or have it be directly witnessed by an admin. Not to mention that these circumstances become very subjective, and in real life people have both died on the spot and survived falling from planes without parachutes. And in regards to "making people's financial statuses more realistic" - this will unfortunately never happen. The government subsidizes all employees' salaries. GTA World is nothing like real life economy. Not supporting this idea. PS: Really? I never saw PKs as "your character being wounded and woken up in a hospital with no memory," because that never made sense to me realistically. If you PK someone - you can wind up in jail for Murder, because you killed someone. If you killed someone, they shouldn't be up and walking around still. I always saw PKs as "in this universe, this is how your character's story ends, now forget everything that led up to your character's death and continue with your story in a different universe". Still gets confusing, especially if you happen to run into people who witnessed you die (I personally act like the person that had died was someone else) but nevertheless this makes more sense to me than the aforementioned view on PK.
  19. Username: M.Jefferson Comment: My mistake, I initially assumed he was a member of LSPD because of their presence in the area (and because we were in the deep part of south Los Santos). Some commenters have corrected me on this issue, so since I'm now unsure which department he's from I changed the description from "Los Santos Police Department" to "local law enforcement agency". Thank you for your feedback! Furthermore, I just want to again clarify that Detective Cohen hasn't gone above his duties in this instance and I wish to commend him for respecting the rights of a civilian to not respond to questions. The problem is a lot of people feel obligated to answer all the questions police give them and that's simply not true - you are not obligated to do so and it may not be in your best interest, even if you're completely innocent.
  20. YouTube video showing Michelle's phone recording with the following description: A late-night interaction with Detective Edgar Cohen of the local law enforcement agency, badge number 26349, who stopped me near Grove Street in Davis and questioned me. While the police have the right to approach anyone and question them, just like any civilian does, everyone reserves the right to remain silent and should exercise this right when speaking to any law enforcement. Key points to note: • As a license holder I was required to disclose this to the law enforcement officer as soon as possible, which I did. • I filmed the entire encounter on my own phone, with the storage device of this phone set to upload the footage to the cloud if anything was to happen. This is crucial as even if law enforcement have body cameras - they are known to "malfunction" at convenient moments, meaning if the Detective in this case was to conduct an illegal arrest, make a mistake or act malicious - without the recording I would have no way to hold him accountable. • I immediately requested his badge number for purposes of reference, if any misconduct was to take place this is the best way to hold them accountable. Law enforcement are obliged to provide you with an identification number and identify to you as they are public servants, failure to do so might indicate that either that law enforcement officer is not acting in best interest of their duties (also known as being corrupt) or that it's not actually a law enforcement officer and they're just an impersonator (after all - everything that law enforcement officers carry can be obtained by anyone, regardless of their position in law enforcement.) • Notice how even after I stated that I would not answer any questions, Detective continued asking questions trying to trick me. Law enforcement are allowed to lie to you, to trick you, and to tell you anything at all to coerce you into either speaking with them, giving a confession or anything of that sort. If that happens, make it clear that you are "exercising your right to remain silent," and if the issue is pressed further - request an attorney. At no point are you legally obliged to speak to an officer about anything beyond identifying who you are. "If you have nothing to hide, then why don't just come clean to the police?" There have been numerous accounts of law enforcement misconduct, and while I am by no means saying that Detective Cohen was in any way beyond his duties by questioning me - I was just out for a jog and having experienced law enforcement corruption in the past I intended to exercise my right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you, even if you make a minor mistake about recollection of your events in the past which is likely - that in itself constitutes a crime. There is no reason to take this risk. Moral of the story - beyond identifying yourself, do not talk to police, always identify the officers you are speaking to and ALWAYS film police encounters that you have. The video:

There are no NPCs in 24/7's, and I strictly remember people roleplaying being clerks - this is a passive role that people CAN fill if they desire to do so. Operating a train or a blimp aren't passive roles, those roles can cause havoc if they aren't communicating with emergency services or ATC, and they serve no practical purpose when operated by NPCs. Nobody needs to, we are roleplaying in Los Santos and there's very little if any traffic, and that's okay because we know how to roleplay and we know how to interpret real life. I'd much rather look around me and be able to interact with everyone than having to search for a tiny amount of real players among a crowd of NPCs. "Global activity of realism", if you want the game to look realistic I suggest you play Grand Theft Auto V single-player. By far the most realistic sandbox game out there. I'd much rather have all of the "global activity of realism" be carried out by real people I know I can interact with. If you think you cannot roleplay being a blimp pilot or a train operator, you're seriously mistaken. I have quite a bit of imagination, and I'd like to not be limited in the actions I can perform with other characters around me. If those characters are "non-players", then I cannot interact with them, and that jeopardizes the whole point of having a roleplay server.
  24. I think the feature where you are flung out of a windshield should be off regardless of whether your character is wearing a seatbelt or not - that feature is a gameplay feature in GTA V made for fun, not for realism - it doesn't even calculate the velocity accurately and majority of the time it causes passengers of cars who didn't crash to fling out because they got desynched and the car crashed on their screen(this is probably why you can't fly out of your windshield in GTA Online). Adding a command that you have to type every time you enter a vehicle is nothing short of a chore and should be removed.

    Bots

I don't support this idea. As it stands - every person you see is a real player who you can interact with. If we start establishing bots this will change and this will ruin the immersion. I can see things going wrong if you establish a system like this. Imagine for example this is established, now we got trains and blimps, cool. Fast forward to when the server grows more popular, LSIA is established, a trained pilot is taxi-ing his Boeing plane onto a runway to fly off. He roleplays the whole thing, communicating with the ATC, finally, they take off - it's amazing. People look up in the sky, they see the plane and they know it's real people. And then boom, out of nowhere it's a blimp! The pilot didn't see it because he was playing in first-person for added challenge and realism, the ATC didn't see it because the blimp is an NPC and doesn't communicate with other players, and then after the whole situation is pretty much ruined over an NPC and it has to be voided. All for what? So that you can look up in the sky and see a lifeless, pointless blimp? Or another example - much more prevalent. Say a car runs out of fuel on the rail tracks, cops arrive and they can't stop the train because there is no scripted way to do so. Now they have to rush roleplay, roleplay sub-parly just so they can get the car off the tracks quickly enough. Or maybe the person inside the car doesn't roleplay his injuries to the fullest extent because he doesn't want to be rammed by an NPC train. Better yet, what happened on other roleplay servers with NPC trains was that criminals would love to end their chases on railroad tracks, so they'd be killed by the train and got out of serving jailtime.
