I set goals for my character. Just as we do IRL... Its virtually impossible for a character to have a mind of its own... A lot of things happen organically that causes a deviation from an original goal, however the "end game"/Background was plotted from day one.

As someone born and raised in CA, and with a subtle southern draw, I can say this is a great discussion. However, misled. You can't just hand pick the description of a state with a very diverse populace. Not agreeing with the country bumpkin roleplay, just saying there is plenty of country folks in the land of liberals. Humboldt County, Weed, Fresno... Places where hunting, fishing, cooking dope and farming all prosper... There is more of the white trash redneck types than in most Southern states that I've worked and lived. I'll just drop this here.. I think you are missing Smiles ultimate point.. Even if your lamemans definement of self defense were true, it is shadowed by supreme court precedence.

I can only assume your legal analysis is restricted to the dockets within GTAW's judiciary.... In that case I 100% agree. Outside of GTAW, the matter is still unsettled, with no SC ruling definitively allowing open carry as a right. As Scallia stated in DC v. Keller, "We find that they guarantee the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation." The argument would be heavily articulated within Federal/state preemption law. Theoretically, with no real precedent and challenges on the matter.. A crafty attorney could systematically chip away at the "baseline" rule of law that the SHAFT act provides.. The biggest hurdle, in which I can attest to as fact, is that FM is not going to allow it unless its fit for the dynamics of our server. Which is understandable. I am litigating against all FLD regulations outside of SHAFT, and to be honest, I see a path to legalizing open carry in the near future... Although FM would most likely disapprove... 😅

The irony of someone playing a cop on a video game.. calling others fake cops... 🙄 Without drawing into the toxic portion, I do feel a need to point out that the LSPD & You thread was not all peaches and cream the last time I checked.... And having been involved heavily in PD relations as a DA, or court room foe as a defense attorney... I can attest that the LSPD has plenty of realism issues of its own.. And thats fine, as this is a game and nothing can ever be replicated 100%. With that being said, its hard to criticize someone (Or something) when thier is an outstanding need for self reflection. I have had the pleasure of working with Zaxer in the past, be it trying to take over his faction with the Union/Mob in a quest to monopolize the industry... Or serving as thier corporate counsel and hashing out thier legal troubles.. At no point in time did I ever feel any less than valuable vibes from thier management staff, or thier base level workers. It was a well ran faction built with limited resources... Such work and effort to build a large, functioning faction with an independent system to supplement roleplay... Thats a feat, and no words or baseless statements can take that away from @zaXer. I believe Zaxer has set the bar higher than most, and he has kicked ass growing even in the face of backlash from those who simply have OOC spite for anything outside of thier own networks.. The thing is the honestly and attention to detail in replicating what a camera would see when it is proposed as IC evidence of an action occuring.. As a former DA, Attorney, and the likes.. I can honestly say that what most people think are the smallest of details, are sometimes the biggest in terms of court RP. Consequently, using such textual representations of video recordings usually ends up in both sides having to sacrifice details for their own good, either towards the good or the bad of the individual. The administration does not have time to validate every CCTV claim, and I have seen people say "Oh we installed them" with no proof.. I've also seen people say "I had a dash cam" and when told that logs needed to be checked, they instantly recanted that statement knowing they never did... It's a hard subject to simply trust everyone with, and those of us who actually are involved in using things like CCTV as evidence know that without the ACTUAL video recording from shadowplay (etc), it is going to be a hectic walk on the path of pleasing two parties who naturually are trying to one up each other. I think that if actual footage is provided, that it should instantly be used... If you cant record, well, that shouldn't allow others to be exempt from providing tangible evidence that something did in fact happen, and it was infact recorded.. The truth is the truth, regardless of our capabilities.

Etiquette and being just... petty are two different things.. if its a passive rp experience then it only heightens the level of immersion, and is always open for interpretation within the situation. If you did not use common sense you'd end up with a never ending loop of players just agreeing with obvious outcomes.

I think good RP replicates that of a great writer... It almost the exact same thing, only we get to do it from behind a character and the story is told on the fly..

So in retrospect, if the new mayor does nothing at all except keep business registrations and licensing rolling... well... we are simply in the same boat.
