Advanced Lockpicking/Vehicle Robbery System, Hotwiring, Breaking Open

Short description:

Adding a variety of ways to break in to cars, hotwiring and others.

Detailed description:

1) Scrap the whole current system that we are using. barely any feature from it is working, alarms, locks and whatever.

2) Add a way to silent break-in to cars. Use lockpicks again and add the safe pin animation (or another similar) to break in with a minigame, rather than waiting for a timer.

3) Add a rough way to break open cars. Purchasing a crowbar from a store (or a metallurgist!) and use it to crack open a single vehicle door (ex. open the trunk only, hood only, doors only, not all at once). The action would put you in to an animation or require you to start hitting the car (similar to LSRP). This would take you a few attempts depending on the door lock level (1-3 for level 1, 3-5 for level 2, 5-7 for level 3, etc). Once you start violently breaking in, the car alarm would activate, sending a notification to LSPD, the owner, or whatever the alarm you have installed provides. There would also be, say a 30% chance your crowbar would bend/break and become unusable, requiring you to get yourself a new one if you want to try again.

4) Remove the current hotwiring system. Add a minigame instead of a timer that you have to wait out. The minigame would show a few wires, which you have to connect in a specific pattern (randomised each time). There'd be a chance of failure, making you get electrocuted and unable to attempt a hotwire for the next 10 seconds while your character regains himself. You'd need wire cutters obtained from a shop (metallurgist, again) and use those to hotwire. There'd be an additional chance to breaking your wire cutters.

5) Add an alarm sound, instead of being silent. The car would honk/flash lights and emit an alarm sound.

 

Commands to add:

/vbreakin silent (activates the minigame)

/vbreakin loud (activates smashing the doors/trunk, or any other way to force them open)

/hotwire

Items to add:

Crowbar

Wire Cutters

 

How would your suggestion improve the server?

Better player experience in roleplaying a car jacker. Finally working alarms for vehicles. The system would require dependancy on metallurgists to create the new items, which in return brings back the need for a metallurgist, improving the roleplay between people and enhancing trading/selling. Crowbars and lockpicks would be illegal, thus not being able to be openly advertised.

This would certainly improve roleplay on several fronts, both for metallurgists and car thieves themselves. The dependency on randomness certainly works, although it makes little sense as an experienced picker might end up having a harder time picking a lock than someone who's doing so for the first time ever.

I'm all for it.

I dont think the map icon that spawns in the middle of a car robbery and stays there till the server restats is a ragemp sync issue ? the sound may be, a temporary placeholder solution can be made with a text message to let you know the car alarm is turned on, or make the headlights flash, honk horn.

I think it'd also be pretty sick if we also included a system where when breaking into a car you can steal a stereo/XM radio and sell it or use it. Could also have super rare items that break into cars completely unnoticed. Maybe shaved keys for older cars that let you start the engine and drive off unless you have X level locks.
