  1. As a faction leader, I'm personally concerned that this was completely reversed and management had to get involved. A lot of roleplay could of been created from this and corruption can continue. While yes, it can continue, it cannot run like this. Corruption happens, mistakes happen, mistakes can get people killed. But thats the point of roleplay, no-one is perfect, no-one in SD, PD, FD is perfect and is above the law, but it seems that roleplay must be voided and possibly hours of time spent looking into things is completely gone out the window. Our work funnily enough works on police corruption, and that went out the window with this new ruling, and a upcoming project has now been scrapped, due to this. I think the amount of roleplay created from this could of been huge, and would of been very interesting to look into. But in the end, its a fine balance between server rules, internal faction guidelines, and IC actions. No cop should have a shield from rule breaking, and in this incident, they seem to have a valid reasoning behind it, but in the end, its managements decision and I'll respect that. I'm disappointed but rules are rules, being a LEO doesn't make you the holy shield. But thank you for the shoutout, it means a lot. @Leemabean

  5. Follow our Facebrowser page for up to date news! DISCLOSURE Los Santos News was not paid to cover this event, we thank our #sponsors for helping us remain in business, check them out below! The first ever Government sanctioned event at Fort Zancudo has finally come to a close with L. Levkov claiming the prize of $30'000, along with this he was able to drive around in a Formula One race car. The event was scheduled to kick off at 16:00 but was hit by numerous delays stretching the event out by hours. Spectators was standing in the sweltering heat for hours on end with no signs of food trucks or dedicated water stands. Gruppe 6 security handled the onsite protection, which included protection of the Super Car. G6 has been steeped in controversy for a while now, as many took to Facebrowser to protest the many delays caused by them at the main gates, the main offenders was the queues backed up to the Great Ocean Highway, along with this the lack of staff on the gates extended the delays. Los Santos News Staff on scene at the event Along with the several delays, there was a lack of company booths at the event, only our Los Santos News Van, it seemed that many companies simply didn't bother to attend the event, nor was any proper food trucks in attendance. The issues was extended by a very short notice change to the maps provided to the citizens and the press. The original entrance was blocked off by barriers and the Southern entrance was the only one in use. Security concerns was also raised by many users on Facebrowser as many of the vehicles lacked any roll cages, nor did the drivers wear much protective equipment. The Government provided a full breakdown of the costs through a Freedom of Information request to the event organizer Lia Friuli who revealed the total costs which was $258'900. Along with this, according to Lia Friuli, there was no hit to the tax payer, a 'sponsor' of the event paid for it all. The name of the sponsor was not revealed. LSNN has been unable to verify that such a sponsor exists, there was no advertising nor did any company claim responsibility for paying this event. Credits: Los Santos News Network When we asked for feedback on the event on Facebrowser, many people hit out at the many delays, lack of security, and almost non existent safety practices. While LSNN did not note any significant crashes on the track, the Fire Department brought out an Engine, a Brush Wildfire unit, Air Operations Aircraft (MEDEVAC) and a Public Information Officer vehicle. Although there was a police chase through the Fort, which resulted in a vehicle being pinned against the wall by a police SUV. Additional arrests was made at the event for reckless driving, but that case is ongoing. Overall the event was fairly meh. 6. Los Santos News Network has collected data from the Sheriff's Department and Fire Department's Media Relations surrounding Internal Affairs Complaints. The Los Santos Police was the only agency that declined to provide the information over. We believe that transparency is key to the public so we're happy to share this information with the general public. In a request to the Los Santos Fire Department we requested Internal Affairs data from the last 6 months. It took one day for FD to respond, Freddy Mellet Director of Public Relations provided the information through Media Channels. "Submitted cases: 17 Concluded cases: 15 Cases under investigation: 2 Cases in which action was taken: 5" We thanked the Fire Department for their transparency and moved onto the Sheriff's Department. It took three days for SD to respond, Natalia Florence, Commaning Media Advisor provided the information through Media Channels along with a statement. "Los Santos County Sheriff's Department fully supports transparency with the public regarding the conduct, professionalism and courtesy of all members of our Department. Maintaining the public's trust in our deputies is crucial and is the foundation to community policing, our Department has zero-tolerance for any employee that would violate that trust. Our deputies' integrity must be absolute. Reports received: 20 Reports completed: 20 Reports outstanding: 0 Investigations on-going: 0 Reports resulting in action against a deputy: 9 • Reprimanded: 7 • Suspended: 2 • Terminated: 0 Reports resulting in no action taken: 11 All deputies sworn into the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department are held responsible for their actions on and off duty, whenever there is doubt in their conduct, these incidents go through several layers of investigation and analysis. These investigations typically require multiple witness interviews, review of all known video footage, and analysis of significant amounts of forensic evidence, if applicable. We are proud to have such a high clearance rate with these reports. When a report is received involving a deputy and action is taken against them, or, it is believed they could have performed to a higher standard, we ensure that this conduct is not repeated by the deputy themselves, or any other employee. There have been countless pieces of training to further educate, inform and prepare our deputies for what they may experience out on the street or within the county jail. We, as a Department, believe this is critical to supporting our community in which we serve." The Los Santos Police Department had declined to provide the data on Internal Affairs cases, replying to our request with: "we do not have any information that we can release to the public at this time, as we do not track these types of statistics. In the future we are looking to implement certain public data, that will be sent out regularly. At this time, however, we can not provide any information about internal affairs cases." - Armando Rosario - Assistant Commanding Officer of Media Relations and Community Affairs Callie Palencia #ads

  8. The Los Santos Fire Department responded to a MVA in Mirror Park at around 15:24, the Fire Department had dispatched a Rescue Ambulance to the scene so its EMTs can provide treatment for the individuals hurt in the collision. Eyewitnesses accounts provided to LSNN is that multiple units had a arrived on scene from Gruppe Six Security, The Police Department and the Fire Department. Fire Department Air Ambulance or MEDIVAC as its often called A person at the scene initially complained to LSNN reporters, questioning to why an Air Ambulance was sent to the scene when resources was already on scene and that the nearby hospital (Pillbox Medical Center) and even went on to mention that the sound of the helicopter landing on the scene woke them up. LSNN was provided pictures by a onlooker. LEFT TO RIGHT - G6 Security Staff, LSPD, Air Operations, one unknown male and a female EMT The Fire Department was reached out to for an initial statement and provided the below statement. "This incident is currently under investigation and the Los Santos Fire Department can not comment on pending investigations. As to the other requested information regarding the use of an aircraft when an Ambulance is already on scene; Aircraft are used for critical calls and the call in nature was distinguished as a severely critical patient. The use of the Aircraft provided a much quicker MEDEVAC to the correct hospital. The closest Hospital is Pillbox Hill but Davis is the most advanced hospital we have in the state currently. Running the critical patient to Davis was the best option at the time and as such, the use of the Aircraft was justified. Fast Response vehicles are only used for ALS support and have no transport capability so that was not an option for the department. We will provide a further statement when the investigation has been concluded." - Captain II - Roxie Bauer, Commanding Officer of Air Operations Division Callie Palencia

  10. Los Santos News Director Callie Palencia was hit a Contempt of Court charge in a courtroom while conducting her Journalist duties in the case of State v. Ramirez, Santana & Rojas. The Justice sanctioned Palencia for having a camera and ordered her to delete the pictures and to hand the camera over to the court deputy. Palencia ultimately refused, citing Freedom of the Press, yet the Justice continued to refuse, sanctioning her with a Contempt of Court, and a fine of $2'500, ordering her out the courtroom after. Palencia reached out to Kerrigan & Hyde, the industry-leading law firm, and handed the issue off to them. Kerrigan & Hyde took the fight to the Appellate Court under First Amendment grounds, Justice Bruce Maynor was the presiding Justice. Hyde represented Palencia in the courtroom and took a few questions from the Justice who gave his ruling shortly thereafter. The Justice stated in his ruling that "the members of the press are always allowed to film and record unless it directly disrupts the court process" furthermore he said that "The right of the Freedom of the Press guaranteed under the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution can only be restricted in the event of the case being declared at the start a private hearing, where press nor members of the public are allowed to witness the proceedings." He reversed the lower courts decisions for the reason "The Superior Court Magistrates misinterpretation of the rules in relation to the press vs private citizens, leading to an unlawful directive with punishment to be given to a citizen with a press pass who was authorized, compared to how a private citizen without a press pass would have been treated in which the conduct would've been upheld." #ads
  11. User: Admin Comment: The Sheriffs Department has provided a statement "The sentence handed down on the matter of Oscar Marina is justice for the victims of his crimes and the families mourning the losses of their loved ones. Marina murdered without remorse or regret and had an established propensity for violence and remorseless killing. With this sentence, it means Marina will be transferred to death row within a highly secure facility wherein he has no ability to threaten the safety or security of fellow inmates. Marina's sentence should show to the criminal enterprises of this state that we will pursue them judiciously, even behind bars, to ensure their criminal activity will not continue unabated."
  12. LSNN Courts Division Court Transcripts: The Superior Courts of San Andreas has handed down a historic ruling in today's case of State v. Oscar Marina, a case that was initially started on Friday the 22nd of May, 2020. Oscar Marina is no stranger to the Justice system, having already faced an extremely large rap sheet for Murder and other charges. It was stated that Oscar had well over 30 charges, along with three murders. Justice Issac Rhodes handed down the Death Penalty to Oscar Marina, the first-ever capital punishment charge in Los Santos history. It's unknown if Marina will appeal the ruling, or will accept it. The Justice said in his ruling "Mr. Marina. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, and this story of yours will not save you every time you take the soul of another innocent man or woman in our community. I cannot for the love of God, see any rationality in why you'd deserve a fourth chance. Oscar Marina, you have not only forfeited your right to live among us, but under the laws of the State of San Andreas, you have forfeited your right to live at all". He ordered that Oscar Marina face death by lethal injection. The evidence against Oscar was overwhelming, the graphic CCTV footage was the nail in the coffin for Oscar. The Justice was swift in delivering the cold hard justice that Los Santos needs. LSNN will attempt to reach out to the courts and the Sheriff's Department for a statement. Statement from the Sheriffs Department - Sheriff Patrick Machado "The sentence handed down on the matter of Oscar Marina is justice for the victims of his crimes and the families mourning the losses of their loved ones. Marina murdered without remorse or regret and had an established propensity for violence and remorseless killing. With this sentence, it means Marina will be transferred to death row within a highly secure facility wherein he has no ability to threaten the safety or security of fellow inmates. Marina's sentence should show to the criminal enterprises of this state that we will pursue them judiciously, even behind bars, to ensure their criminal activity will not continue unabated." 14. ** There is a disclaimer warning viewers of graphic content within this article. ** File Photo - Unknown Date Callie Palencia La Mara, Mara Salvatrucha, MS-13, they go by many names, but the protectors of Little Seoul is a new name to add to the ever-growing list. LSNN had the chance to speak with one of the group's leaders to learn a greater insight into this ruthless group who happily defend Little Seoul. The Insight Crime blog has conducted a great bit of research into MS-13 and it's history, for further reading, you may check it out. When we spoke with the person that goes by Myth, he was happy to tell us about his growing up life. He started growing up in Vinewood, Los Santos, starting off his criminal career he started to sell bags of weed but then he got involved in the Mara Salvatrucha Stoners which ultimately evolved into the infamous gang we all know today. He didn't have a choice he goes on to say, his family was in poverty at the time, he was doing his best to take care of his mother and sister. He concluded that he didn't have a father figure, as he died in the civil war in El Salvador and never really met him. When it came to his first killing, he was twenty-two years of age and it wasn't by choice, it was either his mom or his sister, and he picked his family before a Chicano who raped a Salvadoran woman, he expressed no remorse for his actions and was glad he took a "One less rapist to grace this beautiful earth". He further continues that a lot of people are scared of MS, but he claims that a lot of us (them) are decent people who haven't committed a murder. File Photo - UNKNOWN DATE & LOCATION When it comes to killings, MS-13 aren't afraid to get their hands dirty to defend their area and the people from crimes and extortion, he blames a lot of the typical stereotypical blame that MS-13 are ruthless killers, when in fact it's not, He states that many of them have backgrounds in computers, financial advisers, etcetera, etcetera. La Mara claimed Little Seoul ever since the 1980s and few of the original cliques that were formed there still exist to this very day. Just because they don't stand in the street as most gangs do. He stands firm that MS will always be lurking in the shadows, and they will continue to protect Salvadorans in Little Seoul. In a very strange development, LSNN received a tip-off that another murder had occurred just as we were writing this article, which bared a strong resemblance to the MS-13 style killings, brutal, savage, and ruthless. LSNN will investigate further to see if this is indeed another MS-13 killing and the exact reasoning behind it. Further information can be located on the DoJ website: The Department of Justice today, on the April 26th has requested the Superior Court to issue a Gang Injunction against the Dead End Harpys XIII (Harpy's 13 hereinafter) after the extreme amount of violence around South Los Santos. 19. Your right to know Written by Callie Palencia Credits: Ashley Cross | Los Santos News The Los Santos Police Department organized a large DUI checkpoint at Vespucci Canals this evening at around 20:00. The Department stated it was done to attempt to cut down on people driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol. LSNN staff took part in the checkpoint, which consisted of their vehicle being checked over by a canine unit which sniffed the vehicle for possible drugs or weapons. Each vehicle was stationary for around 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how busy the checkpoint was at that time. The LSPD has confirmed it had organized this event on the 23rd of April, according to a press release, in hopes of giving people advance notice of some disruption in the area, however, it was fairly limited disruption according to Ashley Cross, who spoke to Los Santos News.
