mj2002
Detailed Description This has been discussed a few times already; I still think a separate topic would benefit discussion on this. Essentially, this suggestion aims to exchange a part of the new character/beginner $200.000 starter funds for a token that can be used to obtain a starter vehicle. This concept, as suggested here, has two main advantages; Near-instant access to a vehicle for new characters Reduced amounts of money flowing into the economy There are different takes on how to put this concept into practice, but mine would be as following. Reduce starter income by $50.000 (still give $5000/hour, but end after 30 hours instead of 40 hours) Grant a newly created character a vehicle token upon completing the driver's license test This vehicle token can be exchanged for one of the following vehicles, at their respective dealership locations. Relevant starter vehicles; Downtown Autos Dundreary Admiral Classic | Registered: $35,280 | Unregistered: $29,400 | Insurance Price: $700 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 Albany Esperanto | Registered: $39,312| Unregistered: $32,760 | Insurance Price: $655| Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 Dinka Hakumai | Registered: $42,336| Unregistered: $35,280 | Insurance Price: $706| Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 Declasse Premier Classic | Registered: $46,368 | Unregistered: $38,640 | Insurance Price: $773 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 Karin Asterope | Registered: $26,400$ | Unregistered: $22,000 | Insurance Price: $440 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 25KG Albany Primo | Registered: $34,800$ | Unregistered: $29,000 | Insurance Price: $580 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 25KG Downtown General Motors Karin Atlas | Registered: $42,000 | Unregistered: $35,000 | Insurance Price: $700 | Drive Train: All-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 5KG Classique Tahoma | Registered: $38,400 | Unregistered: $32,000 | Insurance Price: $640 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 25KG Vapid Minivan | Registered: $30,000 | Unregistered: $25,000 | Insurance Price: $500 | Drive Train: All-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 40KG Vapid Stanier | Registered: $36,000 | Unregistered: $30,000 | Insurance Price: $600 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 25KG Premium Motorsport BF Surfer | Registered: $36,000 | Unregistered: $30,000 | Insurance Price: $600 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 2 | INV: 40KG Karin BeeJay XL | Registered: $46,800 | Unregistered: $39,000 | Insurance Price: $780 | Drive Train: All-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 40KG Bravado Paradise | Registered: $48,000 | Unregistered: $40,000 | Insurance Price: $800 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 65KG Sanders Motorcycles LCC Hexer | Registered: $31,200 | Unregistered: $26,000 | Insurance Price: $520 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 2 | INV: 5KG Noun's Motors Vapid Chino Classic | Registered: $41,160 | Unregistered: $34,300 | Insurance Price: $686 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 2 | INV: 25KG Utilities Vehicle Sales Karin Rebel City | Registered: $44,160 | Unregistered: $36,800 | Insurance Price: $736 | Drive Train: All-Wheel | Seats: 2 | INV: 40KG Bravado Duneloader| Registered: $25,200| Unregistered: $21,000 | Insurance Price: $420 | Drive Train: Rear-Wheel | Seats: 2 | INV: 40KG Zirconium Journey | Registered: $25,200| Unregistered: $21,000 | Insurance Price: $420 | Drive Train: Front-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 65KG Canis Seminole | Registered: $39,600| Unregistered: $33,000 | Insurance Price: $660 | Drive Train: All-Wheel | Seats: 4 | INV: 25KG This gives players a good mix of vehicles to choose from, and nearly all characters should be able to obtain a vehicle that suits that background, but still remains reasonable when you look at in game prices. These vehicles could act much like leased vehicles, and there is also a proposal to put some restrictions on these. I'm undecided if any or all of these restrictions should be implemented, but it does provide some food for thought. Delete these token vehicles after 100 hours of play time. By the 100 hour mark, players should be able to afford their own vehicles. 100 hours of play time also equals $50.000 in unemployment payments, 100 x $500. As such, the server has generated enough money for the character to allow them to buy another vehicle, on top of the $150.000 they will have received already. Allow scrapping of these vehicles at the standard rate. If you'd rather have the 20% value right away, then by all means. Disallow the sale of these vehicles. This is mainly to avoid disturbing the used vehicle market more than it already would. Especially for the listed models, allow sales of these token vehicles would ensure their value plummets dramatically. Disallow performance and exterior modifications. This is to encourage players to eventually move beyond these token vehicles and keeps the 'original' copies of these vehicles valuable. Primary and secondary painting could still be allowed, perhaps? Relevant Commands/Items To be determined, this depends on implementation of this concept. How will it benefit the server? Near-instant access to a vehicle for new characters Reduced amounts of money flowing into the economy Note, many of these ideas being discussed also mention a house/property token. However, this is a complex concept with our limited supply of residential properties, so this should be discussed separately. 2 1 Link to comment

If you'd rather have $9600, then by all means. Link to comment
MarcoEL
Huge support. Maybe players could also use the token to reedem a van or the Taco Truck (?) if they would like to RP selling food or something like that, the idea is really nice. As for the modifications, it's a bit.. too much? It's their vehicle after all, they can do whatever they want with it. Link to comment
varthshenon
As long as players can namechange and keep their asset, this kind of suggestion is (kind of?) useless. I'm all for strict economy but I don't think this suggestion will fix anything if even change anything. Link to comment

Can you explain why its useless? A name changed character doesn't get another $200.000. Link to comment

This will block/gatekeep new player or character's roleplay while the veteran/grinder can still accumulate money (they can still get money from server, hence money injection). Rather than reducing "income" from new character, I think we should focus on the amount players can grind from the server money. And to keep the feeling of achievement from the grinder, rather than reducing the income, it might be better to increase to "cost of living" instead. Link to comment

I think you're misunderstanding the money injection systems. New players payments are by far the largest share of money that is introduced to the economy. Link to comment

That's one of an example and might be the biggest money injection. That's nothing compared to $5k per hour. Link to comment

Not 20k per visitor. https://forum.gta.world/en/topic/95-game-changelog/?do=findComment&comment=476920 Edited August 26, 2022 by mj2002 Link to comment
