  2. Press Play... The body of a 23-year-old girl was found crumpled outside in the backyard of a Mirror Park home, along with her dead 7-month-old son. It was clear to investigators who came upon the scene in the early hours of a Monday morning that the young mother had tried to run away with her baby in her arms. But forensic evidence showed she had been caught before she could escape, and both she and her child were shot in the forehead from above, execution style. In this impoverished community, and far beyond, many were left considering the same possibilities when grappling with who would commit such a heinous crime. The slain woman was Brenda “Minnie” Abellán. Her 7-month-old son was Ismael Abellán. The suspect was her husband, Manuel “Manny Gee” Ros, who went on a 3-day methamphetamine binge before murdering her for sleeping with one of his friends. In court records filed in conjunction with the parole check, officials describe Manuel Ros as a “documented Sureño gang member.” Both Ros & Minnie Abellán were apart of the Vicky’s Town 13 street gang, they ended up having two sons together throughout the years. Brenda battled heroin addiction and slowly gave up the gang banging life in attempt to become clean and care for her children, while Manny Ros practically lived in the streets he gang banged on like he had nowhere to go, almost never home with Brenda and the kids. Manny Ros engaged in a gun battle with federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was wounded before being taken into custody, officials said. Los Santos County Sheriff Rick Boudreaux said Ros, who could face federal charges in the assault of a federal officer, underwent surgery at a hospital and was expected to survive. At the time of the arrest, Manny Ros was already a fugitive, having violated probation in Los Santos’ Blaine County, where he was convicted of aggravated robbery, according to court records. Their other son was 12-year-old Armando Ros at the time, the one who found his slaughtered mother and baby brother after getting off a school bus just up the street from his decrepit 2-bedroom home. Becoming the only child, he moved in with his grandmother in a small backyard bungalow on East Mirror Drive. He’s known to spend much of his time with his friends at Victory Parque. Ros attended school in East Los Unified School District but began having behavior issues and ultimately got suspended for the remaining of the 2023 school year for throwing a chair at a teacher. Before the murders, he was a straight A student.
