    Too much violence.

Tension grows between individuals from MPF and West Grove. M-Face and BroadDay are caught in a mid-day shooting after they beat down West Grove affiliates with a help of Harvard Park Brims.

    Late night activities.

BroadDay, M-Face, Ron Brazy and Madmaxx run into 90s affiliates at a gas station in Strawberry. A verbal altercation occurs and all hell breaks loose.

What baffles me the most is the weird mix of IC and OOC in those replies lol.

From an OOC perspective, criminals are supposed to be a part of the game and of the RP. Having criminals is a good thing, it means the server is working as intended, and has players engaging in that type of RP lol.

Then those illegal players remark that in many cases, engaging in that (explicitly encouraged) type of RP, that is a central part of the game, can lead to punishments that are OOC'ly problematic.

And you have people replying "Then don't engage in that encouraged type of RP that is a central part of the game LULZ KEK". Like, bro, what? I'd find it funny to have people take it literally and go "all right I'll just go legal". Three weeks later, those same people will be like "server is boring it's only mallrats and erp there's no crime" xD

The same people that write those replies are the ones that will rather take part in a chase or shoot-out as a LEO instead of doing some passive RP. Then they will complain about every illegal RPer on this server and say "don't do crime bro". Try calling cops when your vehicle gets stolen, chances are sky-high that no one will even bother to show up because they simply find this RP boring. Try to initiate a chase though, you will have 20 units on you in 30 seconds. But according to their brainless statement they would rather have a server full of cops and completely legal characters. Would be funny to see for how long they'd stick around without illegal roleplayers.

This here sums it up yeah.

I wanted to try and play the judicial game, because why not? So I got my character to contact a lawyer IC, and have the procedure opened - this was in February.

The proper judicial thread was created about a month later - in the meantime, my char had the time to serve her time (in the female area that was empty 24/7 even at peak times), get caught again, serve another sentence (where I saw people only twice in an entire week), then get caught again and put on psychiatric hold, then released, and left to her own devices for several weeks. And now, each minor step takes from 2 days to 1 week because someone isn't replying.

Now I'm not saying lawyers, judges, DAs, ... should have an obligation to reply quickly. Just like me they play for fun, if it becomes a boring job then it's just a no-go. But all those facts have to be taken into account: because of those various, perfectly legitimate delays, a prison sentence (or even a simple arraignment) can be the equivalent of having your character banned from RP'ing for weeks or months. There's a reason why so many people say that female jail = ajail. And given the kind of RP there is in the male ward... I may actually prefer ajail, frankly.

Also before someone goes "well CrEAte YouR OwN RP" well, I mean sure go ahead. Create a female lifer, and have fun /me'ing on your own in a locked cell (since they're rarely if ever unlocked). Have all the fun you want, nobody will prevent you. But that's not how I conceive RP, personally. If I wanted to write on my own with no interaction, I'd just write a damn novel.

Exactly... People that say these kinds of things are usually LEO RPers that never tried roleplaying in a prison as a convict. I were in prison for 1 OOC month on one of my characters and I can count meaningful interactions on one hand due to my time zone. There were either no convicts around or there was a lockdown for no apparent reason.

There are open court cases that started in early January... I know people don't want to sit on forums but 3 months to conclude a court case? Good luck to you if you pleaded no guilty.

Right. It's the same, because - and hold on to your hat for this one. It's the same people. Which is obvious in the way they worship the very thought of the good old days, and want to replicate it in every detail.

It doesn't make it correct. The culture was bad then, and it's still bad now.

I agree, I don't think that jail should tick down when you're logged off. I don't think there should be an accelerator when you're online in prison. And I think that the penalties for committing capital offenses should be greatly improved from the slaps on the wrists that are out there now. If you get caught murdering someone, that should pretty much be the end of the character on the outside of prison. Because that's usually what happens IRL. But instead due to the penalties currently enforced, we have 16 year olds that have killed 6 people and are RPing it as being in the YA for 6 months because they don't follow the rules.

You guys need to realize that this is still a game. You already have to wait around a month or more to get a court case finished which is not fun for anyone. I had to wait 20 OOC days just to get a public defender assigned. Not to mention the OOC trouble that court cases bring which turns them into a big headache where player reports have to be made or LFM has to get involved. You complain about people renaming their characters but what do you think would happen if every capital offender caught a life sentence? Yes, they would just rename their character. And if your time zone is messed up you will just end up afking through your sentence or renaming anyways since there are no people to roleplay with. Deputies are already lacking with their activity in TTCF. Enforcing harsher sentences would just increase throw-away characters. This does not solve anything. Make a lifer character If you want to enhance the TTCF culture instead of shitting on illegal roleplayers. Some people find an hour outside their busy schedules to roleplay and have fun and they should not be forced to sit in an empty prison for 2 OOC months just because some judge or other party is lazy to reply on forums.

  6. Just use common sense when roleplaying with residents of South Central. If you are going to treat them with respect you will get the same respect back. But if you are a weirdo wearing cat ears and you give people attitude for no reason when they approach you then you'll get robbed, simple as that.

I own a business there and we didn't have a single shoplifter or fight in past 3 months. I also interact with almost every faction there and I haven't been robbed in the past year. Instead of exaggerating and complaining try to bring some change in South Central by creating businesses that fit the area and enhance overall community vibe for example. All these lies about how gangbangers don't allow anyone else to roleplay in the area do not help with shit.

And yes, there are some bad apples but they usually get weeded out quickly because none of the factions want to roleplay with them.

Your honor, I would like to show the court another photo of my vehicle parked up at the spot to show that there is literally enough space for a ferry truck to fit in and turn right. My vehicle is not obstructing the right lane of traffic in any way. The photo provided by officer Holt is very misleading.

*Kareem would forward a photo to the judge.*

That's not applicable to most jobs nor is it sustainable. I'm not saying it doesn't work for you personally, it might as well, but it's quite obvious it doesn't work for most people and businesses. That's why people are complaining about it, that's why businesses are so short-lived and have so many OOC issues. No one wants to come home from an 8 hour shift and spend 4 hours behind a counter, mostly alone. That's not an opinion, it's as visible as it gets.

If that's how you see it then don't own a business. Join a faction that you enjoy and leave business management to people that know how to do it. @Koko mentioned a great example. Any business/job can be enjoyable if you bring personality into it.

Nah, I don't agree. Most jobs are completely boring and useless, which makes it extremely hard to start any business, and then we get this thread.

Sure, you can create role-play for yourself, but you can only go so far. I've been in that situation numerous times and there's only so many times you can RP mopping the floor, stocking shelves, decorating, or even sparking up a conversation and such. People aren't interested which turns this into a vicious circle, making jobs boring. At the end of the day, you're still spending hours idling behind a counter and typing.

GTA RP is honestly the only video game I've heard of that's so time intensive and yet so boring. It's the only game whre it's not only acceptable but perfectly normal and even regular to spend 3-4 hours online per day, yet only do so much. It's a mystery.

I used to roleplay in a 24/7 for months and it was fun. Yes, the activities that you can do alone are very limited but you can always come up with some fun RP when there are other people around you. It's also all about marketing, you can always attract people into your business if you use your brain. I open my store even when there are 300 people online and it still attracts people and I'm never bored because I create RP for myself and others. When we hit a drought I just come up with a new way on how to attract people, it's really simple. You can make any activity and interaction interesting if you are just a tad creative. If you just stand behind the counter idly like an NPC and bitch about being bored you will never enjoy any interaction.

Yup, but the bigger problem is with employees, and it extends to all business, not just the niche/RP-only ones. It's extremely hard if not straight up impossible to find long-term employees. No one wants to come back after an 8-hour shift or classes to idle behind a counter for 4-5 hours, out of which 90% is AFKing and the rest is boring RP. It's impossible to find someone to stick around and put in the time. Even the ones who do look promising will only stick around until they can open their own business, make enough money, or get bored after 1-2 weeks.

This makes it pointless to role-play any meaningful training or interactions, when you know for a fact they'll be gone by the end of the week.

Ultimately, this isn't really anyone's fault. Can't blame management or the staff team for this, it's just the way it is. We have to deal with it, I guess. We can come up with all of the ideas, but having no one to RP with and for is almost always the biggest dealbreaker there is.

It's because half of the people here are NPCs and they expect YOU to provide RP for them. Even working in 24/7 can be fun if you create RP for yourself and have meaningful interactions with other people. But I guess it's too much to ask people to roleplay on a heavy roleplay server... That's why most people CK/rename their characters every two weeks because they get bored easily. They blame the concept of their character but in reality it's them not using their brain to create any kind of RP for themselves. Maybe if this server promoted roleplay first instead of cops and robbers concept there would not be a drought for employees.
